We'll win our next couple of games and the LvG supporters will come out of their hiding places. We'll then lose and he'll be under pressure again...repeat.

I'm only excited for this game to see the youth.

It's win-win from now on. We lose, he's sacked. We win, ..well it's always nice to win innit.

He's not. Even if we lose 5-0 tonight, van Gaal will be here for the next 18 months. Woodward trusts him.

I never have wanted a Man Utd win as badly as now. Come on Red Devils you can do it!! Beat Derby!! :D

I'm becoming pretty convinced Varela won't play. Could it be:

    McNair Smalling Blind CBJ ?

You think we'll play the kids?

I think we hammered them away as well, but couldn't finish any of the numerous chances we had. Ronaldo even celebrated by counting to 5 with his fingers, to show that he finally scored with his fifth chance.

Or at least that's how I remember it.

I remember Ben Foster making some huge saves on his debut to keep us in that game. VDS was injured and PIG was suspended.

That was probably Derby's best performance the whole season. The game raising cnuts.

Out of interest, is anyone not going to watch this tonight?

The game is on at 4am for me. For every evening game this year, I've either stayed up (rarely) or gone to bed early, got up early, watched it and then gone for a run before work.

Tonight's is the first game I'm considering just recording and watching in the morning. Still haven't decided yet.

What do people reckon LVG do at right back tonight?
I've guessed it'll be McNair but wondering if he'll go with Lingard as a wing back in a return to 3-5-2

    de Gea
    McNair - Smalling - Blind - Borthwick-Jackson
    Schneiderlin
    Herrera - Fellaini
    Lingard - Rooney - Martial
Going for this, though I'd prefer to see players like Pereira and Memphis in this one. Martial is also in desperate need of a rest.

We could still win the FA Cup and the Europa League. But I have 0 faith under this manager we will even do Derby away. Will probably be a dull 1-1 draw and then a replay at Old Trafford that is even more dull.

    Not a chance!

Why would Martial need a rest? He was hardly involved in the Southampton game;he's looked pretty isolated of late

Just had a look at the potential Derby lineup, it's not great is it.

Should really be a fairly straightforward win, albeit probably only by a single goal.

Just agreed to go out and play 7 aside tonight.. would never have agreed to play a game when it clashes with United - ever. Haven't done that in 20 years. Have fun watching lads, all the best.

I'm hoping this will be the team but it probably won't be -

    De Gea
    Varela Mike Blind CBJ
    Herrera Carrick Pereira
    Depay/Mata Rooney Martial

This is how I felt in "that" game against Wolfsburg. That was when I still had faith in LVG and our team. It was a must win game to remain in the CL.
    We lost that.

We then went on a losing/drawing run, after which I lost all confidence in LVG's MUFC.
I am convinced, LVG himself has no confidence in turning our team around. He has tried all his methods and they have not worked.
We are an LVG team through and through and are struggling to beat the likes of Sheffield United.

Our boring style of play was exactly the vision which LVG had - hold possession of the ball and aim for predictable 0-0 or 1-0 scorelines.
Those early games, when Di Maria was running the show and we scored 13 goals in 5 games, was a big mistake, which LVG managed to exorcise from our team.
Scoring 1 goal/game, MUFC have finally be Vangled and we have reached the final stage of the process.

We've become far too reliant on him. He has started nearly every game since he signed and is the only player who consistently shows attacking intent for us.

Placing that kind of pressure on such a young player must be draining.

Its a difficult game this, with us low on confidence and all.
I was certain Van Gaal was gone on Monday, but he's back with Giggs and clipboard. Hard to predict this game, but surely VG is gone if we lose?
Is woodward a masochist? Will we one day find him naked and hanging from a hotel wardrobe à la David Carradine?

Don't let them smell too much apathy in our attacks or we may get another disappointing weekend.

Is there anybody else who feels that IF (and it's a big if) we go out and thrash Derby tonight by playing open/attractive football that chants of LVGs red army , in those circumstances, might be the most powerful message yet?

    Contrast is a powerful tool

Strange saying it because it's only against Derby but this feels like a massive game for us.

Surely a group of players valued at hundred's of millions, being paid so much should be able to even fluke 1 good performance.

Even with LVG, you'd think the players could just decide to do their own thing, he can't sub them all off if they try and score goals.

We may play better against team like Derby but hopefully we won't descend into small time too much.

That being said I would absolutely love 4:0 result... how's that even feels like ?

What message would that be? That we'll blindly follow what the money men tell us to because our overpaid underperforming team overcame a lower league team in a one off match?

... no, not exactly. but if they scored a couple of times in the first half, for example, do you think any of the attacking players can expect to play for the foreseeable future? they might get away with it one game, but lvg can ensure they don't step anywhere near the pitch afterwards.

I can barely stand to see Rooney play anymore for us but the thought of seeing Fellaini play tonight and McNair at RB makes me sick.
