I wonder if this could work?

    Whoever the keeper is.

    De Gea
    Valencia
    Mcnair
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini
    Di Maria
    Januzaj
    Falcao
    Rooney.

    1-4.
    Good, but i'd go with:

    De Gea
    Valencia
    Mcnair
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini
    Carrick
    Di Maria
    Januzaj
    Falcao
    Rooney
    Wilson
    Van persie

    Januzaj

    Rooney
    Wilson
    Van persie

Poor, why have 14 when you can have

    De Gea
    Valdes
    Young
    Valencia
    McNair
    Blackett
    Jones
    Smalling
    Rojo
    Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini
    Herrera
    Mata
    Di Maria
    Januzaj
    van Persie
    Wilson
    Falcao
    Rooney

Now I know Young is injured but if we could roll him out in a wheelchair and put him in goal to block shots neither Valdes nor De Gea can save then why not?

Maybe, though 8 at the back looks a little too defensive for me, and has Herrera earned his spot over Fletcher?

Have we ever - in the clubs history - played two games on a Friday in a single season?

    Tonight is history folks...

From his comments, looks like 3-5-2 for the foreseeable future.

If so, I hope van Gaal puts out his strongest possible side with Rooney up front and whatever defenders we have left that haven't pulled a muscle reaching behind themselves for bog roll showing signs of understanding "the philosophy".

There's no fixture congestion this year so the poor dears shouldn't need a rest and I'd quite like to have a pleasant evening in front of the telly watching our team do a slick, professional demolition job on a team 75 places below us in the league ladder. No "Magic of the Cup" bollocks thanks.

3-5-2 against freaking Cambridge because one of the most expensive sides in the world is a bit "unbalanced".

After reading LVGs comments today im sure we will line up 352 sadly.
But i hope Januzaj get a start today atleast.

Impossible to guess these games but I've gone for:

    Valdes

    McNair - Rojo - Blackett
Valencia - Blind - Di Maria - Shaw
    Januzaj
    Wilson Falcao
Not because that's the XI I'm expecting, just going for the percentages on likelihood of each individual player playing.

If we're going to play 352 for the next while, we should be playing it with a bit of pace.

    -------Keeper------
    -----CB--CB--CB
    Rafael Carrick Blind Shaw
    ----Di Maria---Herrera------
    -----------Rooney-------

    Or something like that.
No need to play 3 strikers for the sake of it.

Hopefully LVG sees sense and starts with 4 at the back. Our width all season from full backs been crap. We fecked up getting Rojo giving away Nani for a season in the process. Clumsy. We have a proven history of being quite capable with four at the back. If we want to close games off, by all means go to 3-5-2 but in the last round we were inept and it took a wonder goal to break the dead lock against a poor team.

LVG has said it, he's a lucky manager. You'd be a better manager if you told these players they're better then Cambridge and for every goal they score, I want 3.

What if they got none?

If I remember rightly, the last time I saw Unitged live on a Friday night, they playes Spurs and little Chris Turner was our goalkeeper. I'm actually a bit surprised BBC opted for this game or do they really think an upset is on the cards? Hopefully, we will go with a strong team, play better in the first half than we did at Yeovil and then LVG can rest some of the players. Will be intersting to see Luke Chadwick huffing and puffing and getting nowhere!

So, you're saying he's a special player in midfield after about 5 games there for us? Wow indeed!

He's been decent this season, nothing more.

    No I am not.
However I'm also not going to say hes nothing special.

Lacks balance. Bench Herrera and Di Maria.
Or isolate Herrera so he doesn't interfere with other players, all whilst nevertheless putting him on the pitch.

Blame him for not keeping the offside line everytime too.

Don't mean to be disrespectful, as I have nothing against Cambridge United, but doesn't their club crest resemble a toilet seat? One you would find in their club store ...with matching loo roll
    It actually does!

    Wow... ok

Good god, he was on about Blind, not Alexis Sanchez. He looks like a good utility player and has looked reliable wherever he's played but he's hardly had us on the edge of our seats with exhilarating match winning performances. Carrick should absolutely be in CM ahead of him.

What defensive midfielder has had you on the edge of your seat this season with match winning performances?

Blind has been one of our best and most consistent players this season, he should be playing, also so should Carrick.

Also Carrick has also not had us on the edge of our seats with match winning performances this season btw.

I want to see a strong team with a few youth players in there. Maybe get a few our players who recently returned from injury a chance to shake off some of the rustiness.

Think I've come to accept that 3-5-2 will probably stay for the foreseeable future, so hopefully at least we play players in their proper positions and give certain youngsters a chance. Would love to see januzaj, Wilson and Pereira all play a part, whether it be off the bench or starting. Maybe lingard getting a game too. Not fussed about McNair or Blackett or any others though.

How easy it to jib the Abbey? Asking for a friend.

    No I am not.
However I'm also not going to say hes nothing special.

    So why the "Wow" bs?

He's been decent this season, nothing more. Calling him one of our best players this season is ridiculous. I'd easily have De Gea, Rooney, Carrick, Fellaini, Di Maria and probably a couple of others above him.
