    So why the "Wow" bs?

He's been decent this season, nothing more. Calling him one of our best players this season is ridiculous. I'd easily have De Gea, Rooney, Carrick, Fellaini, Di Maria and probably a couple of others above him.

The wow was to saying hes nothing special (which I already pointed out btw)

And yes I disagree that Fellaini, Rooney and even Di Maria have been better.
This is the same Di Maria that has been relatively poor in his last 5 EPL games (granted not playing in his favoured position)
I've also watched Rooney have some pretty poor games this season too.
I also don't see how Carrick has been any better than Blind this season, I think they have been on par tbh.

So yeah, De Gea has been better, and probably Carrick and Blind have been about on par.

Its as if just because he was out injured, we've forgotten hes been very consistent in his performances, not to mention he played very well on his return vs Southampton.

Louis Van Gaal's Ass Twitching Press Conference:

Hmm not sure about my 0-3 prediction now, I mean we'll probably manage a 0-1 without a single shot on target with 352.

    MOM: OG!

A win is a win is a win.

    Philosophy.

I love how Van Gaal says "yes" when asked whether he dismisses suggestion that 3-5-2 doesn't work

Van Gaal contradicts himself; He implies he didn't like the way we won games with 4-4-2 because he was ass twitching during those wins and then goes on to say about our run of wins in the 3-5-2 system and how everyone is questioning it after 1 loss. Did he not notice that those games we won with 3-5-2 were the most ass twitching games of all, we won quite a few but we played poorly in most of them and won by 1 goal margins and now those lucky ass twitching wins with the 3-5-2 are becoming not so lucky draws and losses.

I do hope he bites the bullet and drops the 3-5-2 and isn't just playing it to prove a point now.

Does anyone else feel totally spun out when they remember the game is tonight?

Then they check and find its a friggin 7.55 kick off and feel more spun out?

There have been too many draws, he does realise you don't get extra points for possession, doesn't he? We cannot afford to be dropping points like we are. Think we will win tonight, but we will make it more difficult than it has to be

Judging from his latest comments LVG will stick with the 3-5-2 just to prove a point if nothing else. He admits that we creat more chances playing the 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-4-2 diamond if you will but goes on to say it lacks balance in defence.

This to me indicated that he sees us in a Similar situation to the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup in that we lack the players to play the formation he wants us to play (4-1-2-1-2, 4-3-3) because we simply do not have the defenders.

I agree in some respects but we certainly shouldn't be wasting our time adapting to system of 3 at the back if we don't intend to use it long term. Our players perform better in a back 4 so he needs to switch to it and work on our shape until we can buy the required player in he summer, it has to be a better plan than our current one.

Think he'll try to prove everyone wrong tonight, we just have to hope he doesn't risk us being knocked out by the lowest ranked team in the competition doing so.

Really hope he doesn't give in to those demanding attractive football tonight. We'll need 3 at the back to cope with a difficult Cambridge team that play an outdated long ball system. We'll tire them out in 85 minutes and then it'll be all sexy time.

He needs to be careful and consider the health of his sphincter.

Agree with most of your post, but Van Gaal moved to a back three for Netherlands because Strootman got injured, so maybe he feels we haven't got the right balance in midfield, although I think we've currently got enough to do so.

Like you said, our players, especially our defenders, perform much better in a back four so I don't understand the reasoning behind three at the back.

    3-5-2 is awful to watch..

By the twitching of his bum something crappy this way comes.

He has said in both instances, which doesn't help the defenders confidence, that the defences weren't good enough or in our case devastated by injury. Of course that isn't the case now, so he just seems to think he has hit on something.

I assume the same as the logic he had at the World Cup with the Netherlands which is work with what he's got in a formation he knows until the situation changes.

I think the fact that we wanted Vidal in the summer and having such strong links to Strootman goes to show we still don't have a balanced midfield. I'm a big fan of Vidal I think he's our answer to our lack of strength, movement and leadership in the midfield, the complete box to box midfielder.

Did we want Vidal in the summer? There was paper talk and crap on twitter from wannabe ITK's but no bid.

That's the trouble with the media, they put all these stories out there and we all think it is certain we are going for these players. This window is no different.

    Valdez
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Rooney
    Wilson RVP

Think Fellaini might play ahead of Herrera, Falcao on the bench with Blackett McNair Januzaj and Perreria. Hoping sub appearances at the least for the latter two.

Home from work, beer open, Come on United.
Be interesting to see the line up. All out defence against the mighty Cambridge.

with our 3-5-2, we're sure going to make it hard for cambridge to get too many quality scoring chances. and, with a little luck, if we can capitalise on our opportunities, i like our chances of leaving cambridge with a win. but it'll require a lot of hard work, and a bit of luck too.

regardless, it'll be a treat to see valencia play.

Hopefully Valdes, Herrera, Januzaj and Wilson start this one.

Why use Valdes (or weaker players)?
Lets use our strongest team. Our next game after this is in 8 days, so no need to "save" our first teamers.
Lets try and win this game and get our best players to learn the system. The more they play, the faster they will learn our complicated system.

He really should use tonight as an opportunity to rest the likes of Rooney and Mata and give Adnan and Herrera minutes. I hope he does.

He spent 5 minutes explaining the reasoning and this is what you gather?

So when these players get injured or suspended, the other players come in and haven't a clue how to play the system?

Because were playing against much lesser opposition so it is a good opportunity for them to play and gain some confidence should we get the expected win. Gives LVG a chance to see them in the first team knowing its a lesser risk playing them.

None of those players he mentioned is weak, at all. De Gea has been playing all our matches so far and deserves a rest against a weaker opponent which we should win easily. And we need to get Valdes and Januzaj matchfit and this is a great chance to do that.

Looking forward to the match...hope we play some great attacking football and really own them.

We have a squad of players, plenty of who are very good players and need games too since we have no european football. We're also playing against 4th league opposition, so even if we put out our complete reserve side (I mean our u21's, not just back ups), I'd still expect us to win.

People refer to LvG like they refer to the "government", one figure who we can blame all our problems on. LvG needs to change the system, the government needs to change the laws. In reality there are many influential people making decisions, and LvG is not the only one to blame if things don't go well in a particular game. It's the players, it's his assistants and coaches. He said clearly in that clip that he talks to the players, to the assistants and they all uniformly make a decision about which system to use, how to set up, and so on. It's Giggs job to anaylse the opposition and if Giggs says "4-4-2 is better against this opponent" and gave very good reasons, then LvG would change it. He's done it before with his other assistants. If Rooney or Carrick or Fletcher and the other players when they anaylse the film together as a team and talk about it, made good reasons why the 3-5-2 didn't work in a certain game, LvG would listen. If the players go out and Jones lumps the ball 30 yards down the field everytime when Louis says not to do that, it's not Louis' or the assistants fault. In reality, the 3-5-2 is a great formation to mask our weaknesses, the lack of good defenders (we put an extra one in) and our lack of wingers (we'll play wingbacks to add width and help the defence). We put a pacey forward upfront to pull defenders and stretch the defence, we have a holding midfielder to control the tempo, a physical midfielder and Rooney who is very versatile. It's a sound formation, it gets us results and I see why LvG stays with it. If you guys think you know more than Louis and his players and his assistants then go ahead, but I know I don't.

I forget though, the agenda is that Louis is a crazy stubborn foreign bastard who talks funny and blows up at the media every two seconds and the Caf buys in no matter how much evidence is presented to suggest otherwise.

You can type fast, can't you ;).
Most United fans (that I speak to) will give Van Gaal plenty of time to get it right. It's the media that want us to turn on him. It makes for better news.
