This game is basically "Can a loss be a win?".
In the other games where Zirkzee started, our pressing was effective—perhaps not at Mount's level, but it was decent. However, against Tottenham, we surrendered control and hardly pressed them at all. Based on today's lineup, it seems like thats the plan again. That period of high pressing was when Mount was fit and leading the line in tandem with Bruno. It was effectively the tactics deployed against City in the final. And it was likely used because Zirkzee was not match fit and hardly trained with the team and Rasmus was injured.
It's a big call by Erik to drop both the centre backs and go without defensive cover in midfield. Would have loved for Mount to be fit for the match.
That picking under performing players that have been here for yours is not a better solution than picking new players that are trying to fit in and need to play to do that.I'm not sure what you're arguing here but going back to what my point is - Ugarte has been consistently below par since he joined, he needs to settle and I don't find the decision to bench him out against a tricky away team remotely contravertial.
Surprised we are starting without a recognised holding midfielder. Hope it works.
Garnacho. But we’ll lose him soon enough if we don’t turn our fortunes around.Yeah but what’s the bad news?
This argument is so ridiculous. Bayern are five times better than us. Their rejects are twice as good as any player we have. Not good enough for an elite club does not mean they're not good enough for us. We are not an elite top club anymore, we have to build our way up and there is a reason we can't attract the best players in the world.
Blaming player quality has went too far. There’s managers all around the league walking into teams and getting results out of far worse players than we have.So what's your explanation for Eric Dier moving to Bayern Munich and becoming a starter for them?
This is an incredibly flawed thought process. Bayern being a better team than us doesn't mean they don't have players that wouldn't be good enough to start for us, and vice versa.

I kind of see why he was dropped as he wasn't very involved against Porto but I feel like we didn't get the ball to him enough.Everytime we leave Amad on the bench, we have a horrible game....just an observation. Not that we have fantastic games otherwise, but somehow I feel he makes a difference on the right side.
Exactly we have a squad full of good players, we have a manager who is awful.Blaming player quality has went too far. There’s managers all around the league walking into teams and getting results out of far worse players than we have.
He was a free transfer, Bayern needed a LCB and he played well for them? It is not very complicated. So what's your explanation for Eric Dier moving to Bayern Munich and becoming a starter for them?

Yep. He's at least clever with the ball even if he isn't creating an awful lot. Having two headless chickens on the pitch together in Rashford and Garnacho seems like a bad idea.Everytime we leave Amad on the bench, we have a horrible game....just an observation. There's really no other plausible explanation, is there? That team is from a man that wants £17m by Monday morning.
Good advice from a very old person, never use the word hate especially on a person. Something I learned many decades ago. However I do feel your passion and I fully understand you.
It's only a game at the end of the day and I'm in a confused state like the the rest of us here. There is light at the end of the tunnel and just try to enjoy the game mate and try to ignore the manager on this match. It's the players who have the final say today I feel.
He was below par a PSG, and had been dropped, after a promising start. I'll bet PSG laughed all the way to the bank when we said we wanted himI'm not sure what you're arguing here but going back to what my point is - Ugarte has been consistently below par since he joined, he needs to settle and I don't find the decision to bench him out against a tricky away team remotely contravertial.
Exactly. This game is basically "Can a loss be a win?".
What the hell is that line up ffs
Then we can agree to disagree then, I don’t think Eriksen, Casemiro or Bruno are up to the pace of the league anymore.Playing a midfielder uncomfortable with the pace of the league is a worse solution for me. Eriksen has had a good season despite that one mistake he made, Bruno has been poor yes.
If I'm playing Ugarte I'm playing Casemiro with him. I feel like he needs a fellow DM to help him out and get his bearings right.
You mean their Onana. He got injured. No Onana?
fecking hell the whole gang is there too. Jim, Dave, Omar... Definitely the last game for him.
No Onana?
