I don't think so, Eriksen has been a very important player in transition for us. He's been excellent in the deeper role which affords him more time and space. Fred, you never know what you're going to get.

Not ideal circumstances for us to be down so many attacking options with how they're likely to play with Emery in charge. Have to be wary of the new manager bounce too. Glad to see Martial made the bench but we're without so many others. Concerning.

I hope when Ten Hag inevitably subs Martial in, he doesn't push him wide to accommodate Ronaldo. Most of us already know he'll put in a mediocre performance and when the time comes Ten Hag takes him off for Martial and not try to shuffle everybody to indulge Ronaldo.

I don't disagree with your logic, but in terms of putting more quality on the field, it might have been better to play Fred instead of VDB. McTominay would also have been an option.

Imo Ronaldo starts simply because Martial is not ready yet. If we're chasing a goal he'd sub Ronaldo off for Martial. Like he did against Newcastle with Rashford in for Ronaldo. But please this time sub him off earlier than 70'.
