Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • I really hope otherwise, but Amorim may learn a harsh lesson here with Maguire and Malacia up against Saka and White

Malacia seems to struggle with pacy players, but don't think Saka is that so maybe he can pull off a defensive masterclass. Trial by fire for sure, hope he manages. Bruno in midfield against Arsenal is bad news, though

Surprised Zirkzee isn’t starting, and Ugarte, Mount, Bruno midfield may be risky. I thought he would have gone with Case and Ugarte.

    Anyway, cmonnn United!!!!
Should have selected Zz instead of Bruno. Zz can resist press and his vision while being pressed is better than Bruno.

You’re all talking about Saka and the left flank… Odegaard in the middle vs Bruno and Maguire would be a bigger concern, imo. He’ll hover around both, dragging Ugarte out of position, in turn making it easier to collapse the flanks, would be my worry.

Game’s too early for us, so at peace so long as we don’t get humiliated.

God his teams are hard to predict.

Not confident at all, think the idea is to stay in it and half time or 60 min some big guns will come into the fray. I don’t mind rotation this time of year, it’ll save injuries, hopefully.

Not feeling this line up at all but hoping for the best.

Understand the reasoning with the heavy schedule. It’s no Amad that I don’t like. Love watching him play.

This XI is spooky...I hope it's gonna be a masterclass for Amorim, but throwing Malacia into deep water after 1.5 years, Maguire + De Ligt at CB when both of them are slow, Bruno at #8, Amad on the bench, Garnacho over Rashford...I really hope today is gonna be proof to how much more a professional manager knows than us

Not ideal having to play Maguire and De Ligt but didn’t really have much choice, big call not to play Rashford and Amad but Amorim is being very consistent with his desire to rotate.

What were people truly expecting to be the lineup or more accurately phrased the lineup Amorim should have gone with?

If it’s no Amad starting then I can understand some folks frustration but he did pick up a knock towards the end of the game on Sunday so Amorim may think he may not want to risk him from the off in case he isn’t 100% and Arsenal try to kick him off the park.

    Like up scares me

    Expected Amad rested

Assumed ugarte and Casemiro to make a solid midfield. Bruno in there terrifies me. Especially with Malacia and a bang out of form Dalot out wide

Seems like Amorim has chosen pace and working rate over ball retention. This is the most defensive line up he can field at this moment who can quickly fall back on counter.

Don’t like the team. Hopefully he’s got something cooking for this one.

Arsenal missing a couple of players to injuries and we we know that is a tragedy when it happens to Arsenal.

Other teams being totally decimated with injuries is "just part of the game".

Is Dalot out of form? Or just out of position at left back, where he has been put for most of the season?
Much more comfortable with him on the right.

Yes it's not our strongest 11 but I trust this manager to manage. Let him at it.
It's the strongest lineup from the midfield and attack POV. Bruno, Ugarte, Mount, Garnacho and Hojlund is the best balanced in terms of ability and energy. Defense was a figure out who we have available and fit them in, due to some absences. I'd say it's the best we can do.

Let’s hope that Maguire and Malacia trying to justify their place in the squad will have a blinder today: come on Reds.

Like the 3 up front with pacey players who will press hard, and then they’ll probably be subbed at 60 mins or so

Malacia is a surprise for me, a big surprise in fairness. Possibly Amad too but he was shattered against Everton, so maybe he's managing his time. Not surprised to not see Yoro start. As excited as we all are to see him start, I never expected the manager going off what he said earlier in the week to start him.

He’s definitely hoping we’re still in the game by 2nd half and then his super subs win it for us
