Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Just curious how that side plans to create anything apart from hitting channel balls to Hojlund and Garnacho (neither of whom are great hold up players )
Mount could offer some sort of link-up/holding ability, but I think what you said is the plan if that is the side (which I hope it isn't). It'll be a similar game plan to Sporting vs Man City, but I don't think our personnel can pull it off.

I'd rather have Amad on the right and Dalot on the left.

Even if Amad needed to be benched, I'm slightly surprised he didn't opt for Antony rather than Malacia simply given Malacia is still just returning from injury.

It’s Arsenal away , you put your best eleven. Amad is currently one of those. He played 90mins on Sunday which meant Amorim wasn’t planning on starting tonight regardless of his performace .
Exactly. So I don't get the shock and horror. For good or bad, this is Amorim's way of doing things.

It sucks having so many players unavailable during the busiest period of the season.

The only thing I don't like from the lineup is Bruno keep being moved around.

I've a feeling he will not start Amad here and will play Mazraoui as the RWB. Would be the more pragmatic approach and would keep Amad fresh for our game vs Nottingham at the weekend.

He mentioned on Sunday after the game that Amad's gametime needs to be managed as it will maximise his physical capabilities.
    Called it yesterday regarding Amad.

The LCB will be doing most of the defending against Saka.

Although we’ve had a couple of positive results recently, I feel like in the games against Ipswich, Bodo/Glimt, and Everton, we conceded quite a few chances. Against teams with better quality in attack, we could easily have been punished more severely.

Given Arsenal's current goalscoring form, it’s crucial we tighten up defensively. If we give them the kind of opportunities we allowed in those matches, we could find ourselves in real trouble.

Hopefully, Amorim recognises that we’re unlikely to dominate possession against them and adjusts accordingly by setting the defensive line a bit deeper. This would allow us to focus on hitting them on the counter, where we could be much more effective.

That said, judging from his comments in the video, it seems like Amorim is committed to implementing his long-term vision, even if it means we might suffer in the short term. It’s a bold approach, but one that could come with growing pains against top-tier opposition.

We’re clearly expecting to defend a lot and hit them down the middle on the break, with our wingbacks not getting a lot of chances to be high up the pitch, hence going with defenders.

Garnacho is great at driving the ball up the pitch from deep which is handy when defending deep. Mount over Rashford is also a defensive minded switch, Mount will press Rice probably while Ugarte sticks to Odeegard.

I expect us to play very differently, have less possession, and be deeper throughout. Hojlund’s positioning and runs will be key if we are to score.

I am excited , its not a week team by any stretch of imagination and you have game changers on the bench.

    Lets go !

Hopefully Malacia is ready for this. But options very limited and we definitely needed to push Dalot to right back. Surprised Amad on the bench but he looked knackered on the weekend. Not surprised that Bruno, Ugarte, Mount and Garnacho are the middle 4, or Hojlund up top.

Kind of surprised at Maguire starting but again, with Martinez being suspended and Shaw injured, not many options.

Nothing wrong with the line up. Squad rotation has been a key feature already under Ruben.
Every player will have their chances and every player will get a rest.

I’m sick of going into these big games with a depleted squad, seems to happen to us all the time. I’d love to go into these games with a fully fit squad for once and see what level we’re actually at. Feel for Amorim, it was always going to be a tough one with this game coming so early into his reign as manager but missing so much quality from the team means this is a real uphill battle. If we come away with a win tonight he deserves massive credit.
