    Smalling.

Penalty in the cup semis last year.

    Red card in the final.

    He scares me.

I'm afraid of Smalling vs Dolberg tbh, but will we can't change anything. Let's hope he's up to it for once.

1 hour before the match, I'm truly anxious... even 1-0 I will be very happy as long as we win the match. come on, lads!

I find it strange that this is considered to be a gamble. Or a shock. I understand why, I just find it a little silly.

Lingard is faster but Mata is better (comfortably) at almost everything else you'd want in an attacking sense. By playing Lingard instead we would be weakening the team.
I agree, but it's a gamble in Mourinho terms. Lingard will do more in terms of tracking back and disrupting play. He's not as good, but he's a work horse.

Jose has traded a better attacking player for someone who would do a better defensive job. Not quite a Martial type gamble, but a gamble still.

Decent team. Thought Lingard would've started ahead of Mata. Can't wait.

If Mata's back to full fitness I think it could give us the cutting edge in front of goal we so badly need. He usually works hard in big games, too, so I don't think it's as much a defensive risk.
Hopefully. Lingard does have a good record in these games too though. Could just be for experience as much as anything else. Though Mata is better at keeping the ball, and usually more clinical in front of goal.

Bailly's suspension is mightier than we thought it would be. Blind was the worst player on the pitch against Celta & Smalling has declined(perhaps the worst defender in the whole of Greater Manchester area).
That is my main concern. Baily is a beast, what makes the stupidity on the end of the game worst...

Good to see Mata ahead of Lingard, Jose prepared him with giving him some minutes and match fitness I think he will be so important tonight, Mikhitaryan must focus he can't miss that lot passes today , Fellaini no early Yellow. Finger crossed.

Ehm...maybe because they will give us a HUGE advantage on OUR set-pieces ? :)

We've scored 1, maybe 2, goals from a set piece this season, we are awful at them..

Your hate for Fellaini will just make you refuse to see anything I counter.

Fellaini is our best outlet for getting these passes down, and then can easily pass them on to Pogba.

Pogba simply can't do the same job that Fellaini will be doing as well.

It's nothing to do with hate, that's just a lazy crutch his fanboys use. Ajax are a good footballing team, fielding a player that can't do anything with the ball on the floor and is hugely susceptible to the press is not good idea, especially not when the only reason to play him is a lump ball tactic that we barely ever benefit from.

I auto-piloted De Gea into my lineup  sums up my year with the lineups.

Strange that Valencia is the captain even though Smalling is supposed to be 3rd captain of the team.

Well that's trivial now, I'll think about it after the game ends with hopefully a win.

Last game of the season and diarm gets his first 11/11 all year!

Here's hoping for my first correct scoreline prediction as well! (0-3)

    Smalling.

Penalty in the cup semis last year.

    Red card in the final.

    He scares me.

It was Fosu Mensah who gave away the pen in FA Cup Semis last year. Although Smalling scares me also, he looks a nervous wreck in a league game God knows how he'll do in a European Final.

Herrera, Lingard/Rashford and Rooney to score

Would've preferred Jones over Smalling, apart from that the team is the best we could possibly field.

quite incredible that after 2 managers and nearly half a billion in squad investment Moyes only signings are in the starting 11 of our European final
