Darron Gibson - is he good enough for Everton?

Scapegoat identified. Nani and Hernandez can now safely continue to be shit today.

How Gibson manages to miss every single clearance by the other team when being the holding midfielder just baffles me:wenger:

Was gonna go off on one in this thread if we hadn't have won, admittedly, which is strange considering it wasn't really his fault that our decision making as a team was a bit bizarre in the first half.

Saying that, it was another poor performance. There have been far too many of these sort of performances. At the very least, if you do not have the talent of a Nani or a Rooney, you must demand the ball and do some work off the ball.

Another game to be forgotten by Gibbo, the demand, the influence, the skill was never there and he never tried to show up his talent, he was just by-passing the game and he never had the confidence to have a go imo.

Not that its his shooting I was worried about, but he makes invisibility and easy issue...

Will have to fight super hard if he is to retain his spot as a squad player next season.

I really want him to make it, it's important we give our academy players as much of a chance as possible. I would loan him out next season to a Prem club where he'll play every week, we need to see how he reacts to that before we think about giving up on him.

Sadly, I just can't think of what Gibson brings to the squad. For ages now I've thought of him as "him with the rocket shot," but even that's been missing lately. Unfortunately, I can't see him having much of a future at United with the talented CMs we have coming through.

Most obvious substitution to make in a long time, Gibson off for Giggs. Didn't do anything today.

He's just.. slow. Everything about him. Has had a few good games tho, this season, so guess all hope's not out with him. But games like today, the game just passes him by, and he seems almost too happy with it

Him shooting was shit but he wasn't all that bad. I've seen far worse from him this season.

I rarely criticise United players but he's completely out of his depth. Thank god Anderson stepped up and played well today, was on his own effectively.

The longer he goes without scoring the nervier he looks. He was snatching at shots today and you could see he was getting frustrated.

Best run he made today was the one when he left the pitch to be replaced by Giggs. And even that was 15 minutes too late.

Absolutely non-existent again today. Shite.

Wandered around doing very little while the game passed him by as usual.

Special Joystick just for Gibbo.

He shoots, hangs his head in shame cause he know there were better options, 5 mins later, he shoots, hangs his head in shame, etc etc etc

He's actually making Evans look good. No wonder he was facepalming today

Please sell him fergie! its so patently obvious hes not good enough to be here, another absolute shite performance from a really poor player.

Everytime he goes off the team performs better, its not a coincidence.

To be fair, it's not like he was being replaced by Gareth Barry. It was Giggsy, who's arguably been our best impact player this season aside from Hernandez.

Giggs didnt do much
We always step up the tempo in the last 10-15 minutes if needed.
Fresher legs + experience obviously helps, but I dont buy the 'we looked like a different team because of Gibson going off" argument

We created a lot of great chances in the first 75 minutes and shouldve been comfortably ahead

He doesnt take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate midfield. Whether or not he can add that to the game, I do not know. But he is 5th, maybe 6th choice at united. And I dont mind him at all. He is a very decent squad player who will only get better with games/experience

Obviously I wouldnt be confident if he was our first choice. I dont think he is good enough. But I dont want him out
And I thought he did alright today.
