We're getting Valencia, Fabregas and an experienced forward.
I've heard from a few people now that we are linked with Fabregas, although I find it hard to believe.

Where did you hear this?

We we are linked with everyone, name a player and someones said something! Fabregas seems to hate United more than most the amount he moans about usm or maybe it's all an elaborate cover up for his impending transfer! He's just been on about how United are a one man team and now that Ronaldo has gone we are nothing.

Isn't he nearly out of a contract though? I remember those quotes they were posting sometime last year when he said he was a fan of United. I took that with a pinch of salt though.

Anyone have any actual sources/quotes or anything, or have I just missed it having only read the last two pages?

cant see benzema signing for a club that wont guarantee him a start .. and with berba and rooney , its not going to happen at united .

think we will stay away from this one
I like this one. His age for a start is good. David Villa at 45 million pounds for 27 year old. I think SAF want the other three to up their bid. Ribery. same thing. Benzema at 40 million is a better buy.

No he's on a contract until 2014 and has this past week said he's staying at Arsenal.

"I would have never signed that if I did not think I was capable of making it [to the end of the deal]. The boss knows that I really want to stay here."

"I hope I can be at Arsenal for many years and lift trophies like the Champions League, the Premier League, FA Cups...
I am really looking forward to it because I am sure the future is bright here."

I'm not saying the quotes are overly convincing but I'm pretty sure he isn't going anywhere, and if he does it isn't going to be us.

Benzema would be an excellent signing from a marketing point of view as well as the fact that he is an excellent player. A shaven headed french striker wearing number 7 for united would sell an awful lot of jerseys and his name even fits in with all the Cantona chants

I agree, I don't think he's quite got the charisma though but he would be a dream signing.

You can be certain we'd turn him into a world-beater and he'd be making sound about Madrid within 3 years though. :(

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas has denied reports he said he would go to Barcelona if he received a call from Pep Guardiola.

Fabregas came up through the youth ranks at Barca before moving to Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2003, and the Spain international has been regularly quizzed about a possible return to the Nou Camp over the last few years.

And although always maintaining he's happy at the Emirates Stadium, the midfielder was quoted in Spanish newspaper Sport that if Guardiola were to get in touch with him it "would be different".

However he later denied this latest speculation, telling Radio Marca: "I've never said that. I would be really happy (to get a call from Guardiola) because Guardiola has been my sporting idol forever, and if he called me it would be a big thing.

"You need to be responsible not to fall into these sorts of traps."

The 22-year-old added: "My future right now is in the same place. Arsenal have already said that I'm not for sale, which fills me with pride.

"If some day I left Arsenal, it would not be to stay in England. As everybody knows I really want to play in the Spanish league. In England the top four teams are much better than the others and in Spain it is more even."

I think Benzema is the only half realistic target we could get that would have the power for us all to get our cocks out and start wanking furiously. Its still quite unlikely though but we have the bread to do it! I guess Valencia is on his way here once the Ronaldo bread comes through and I reckon there will be one final treat on top such as Costa or Sanchez!!

Benzema? Yes, I would think he is a good buy. The lad is young and is a proven goal scorer.

according to whom?

not that I can see us getting him anyway - hope I'm wrong
According to this dude:

http://www.skysports.com/football/transfer_clockwatch/0,23710,14896,00.html

"9.26 Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano has conceded his club's bid to sign Valencia striker David Villa looks doomed, while Bayern's asking price for Franck Ribery is proving prohibitive. In a typically candid interview he conceded Lyon striker Karim Benzema was another target, but that a move for Liverpool's Xabi Alonso is unlikely to be welcomed at Anfield.."

Its no brain surgery to envisage Real trying to sign Benzema. They need a Centre Forward & he's one of the best around!

Would love us to get him, but I feel that every top-class footballer will want to sign for Real now that they've got Kaka & Ronaldo & most likely Ribery...

I'm gettin sick as a parrot with all this transfer lark, we're gonna end up with no top-class signings now that Real are after everyone we are after. cnuts!

Chill they wont get everyone... If they decide to go for Benzema instead of Villa it just means Villa is available for another club. They have already made it clear that Ribery is not important to them this season and i take that is because they are siging our Ronaldo, so the question is will Ribery wait? Doubt it.

I don't think they'll buy him.

Valdano said they want to sign Villa, but if Valencia doesn't agree and sell him to Chelsea/United/Barcelona, Madrid still have two alternatives and it's not Benzema. Asked 'Forlan and Ibrahimovic?' he said 'it may be one of them, the other one is definitely not. We're going to work on it this week'.

Lets be honest man, if its a straight choice between Real & United for foreign players then 9/10 they'll be lured to Real for varying reasons, of which climate & lifestyle are key factors!

Real need a big man up front & Benzema fits the bill, and a small man to play off him ala Villa. Although from what I hear, Villa is closer to a Barca move than a Real move - good to see aswell, so Forlan could come into the equasion or maybe a certain Rossi or Aquero!

With the clear out Real are preparing, they'll need alot of new bodies to replace what they're losing. Ribery would be a direct replacement for Robben & Sneijder playing out wide or through the middle. That baldy Algerian thug Zidane is engineering a move for Ribery, so if Real want him - they'll get him!

They're gonna spend upwards of £300m this summer - if you believe reports, and this clear out will surely generate alot of dosh for them. They will go after anyone we deem as good enough to play for United, so unless some of our reported targets care less about Reals rep & bubble they're now in - then i feel we'll be feeding off scraps this summer!

Sorry to piss on the parade mate but.....

Lyon striker Karim Benzema remains a summer target but Valdano admitted the club will take their time in negotiating a deal.

"Benzema is another great player," he continued. "But this is a very long process and we are going to take things easy.

"The start of the season is two and a half months away, enough time for us to look at what we do and don't need."

real are after everybody and anybody we put a bid in for will also be tracked by real and city. I trust fergie, but if we let benzema go to our rivals it would be a massive loss. Im hoping we have agreement with madrid that they dont poach any of our targets as aprt of ronnie deal but i doubt it.

benzema is exactly what we need along with yaya toure and valencia/costa-im not a huge fan of davis silva, i watch spanish football all season he is talented but too lightweight for the prem league.

Not being funny but we can actually outbid real for anyone with the amount of money we have at the moment. So if SAF really really wants him then he'll get him.
Exactly my point but RHD's posts like "we'll be feeding off the scraps" are both spoilt and plain stupid given that Real spent a large proportion and that we GAINED that large fee from them.

For all who think we should be doing what they do, please feel free to become a "madrista". Bloody hell imagine if our fans and their reactions if we were arsenal. We spend £31 mill on Berbatov without blinking, yet thats how much nearly half their squad costs.

we'll only be feeding off the scraps if we choose to. We'll either go all out for one of the big names or invest in young talent I'd imagine and lastly if SAF suddenly goes senile we will we be feeding off the scraps.

No Offers For Karim Benzema -
The agent of the Lyon striker reveals Benzema will stay in France...for one more year at least.

Olympique Lyonnais forward Karim Benzema will stay in France for one more year, according to his agent.

Speaking to sport.co.uk Benzema's agent, Karim Djaziri, insisted that there has as yet been no contact from clubs wishing to acquire the player.

He also revealed that Benzema intends to stay in France for next season to focus on preparing for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"There has been no contact [from would-be buyers] for the moment," he affirmed. "Karim told me he wants to stay here. He told me he wanted to stay at Olympique Lyonnais and help prepare for the World Cup in France."

Djaziri refused to rule out the possibility of a future move for the 21-year-old, but underlined his determination to stay for now.

"Obviously you can never say definitely in football, but before he left for his holidays he said he wanted to stay at Lyon for one more year. Then, if there is an offer we will take a look at it."

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been a long-time admirer of the French international and speculation is rife that United are ready to launch a bid.

There you go... says it all. I think Lyon will sell if money is thrown at them, simply because there is too much money around this season not to take up the opportunity of receiving it. Next season might be a different story.

Silly risks like playing at a bigger club against better players in a stronger league to help make himself a better player, so he's of more use to his country when it comes to say a World Cup tournament?

He's young and he's got time, he's struggled a bit this season so if he wanna take an extra year in order to improve at his local level it's a good decision for him. Moreover he's not even a regular starter for France yet so he's playing it safe, makes sense
