City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with 130 FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th Sep 2024 | Concluded 9th Dec 2024 - Awaiting outcome

It's astonishing that people believe this is a real quote. I don't think anyone would be so quick to believe Robinho was that stupid if he was an English player.
Well im glad that person and his questionable characteristics joined city instead

I don't necessarily think that would have meant Robinho was stupid. He like many people outside England had just never heard of Manchester City.

It's interesting timing if this is happening very soon. During a season where City have done nothing and are nowhere near winning the league.

City get a ten-point deduction this season because most of the charges 'can't be proven' so it's just for being obstructive. £100m fine, 10-point deduction leaves them just above United so everyone can laugh at "city get points deduction and are still above United" and then everything is forgotten.

Absolutely they would. Dave Unsworth moved to Aston Villa thinking Birmingham was in the North. And immediately put a transfer request in.

They'll wait to see how few points they can deduct them and they still qualify for the champions league, then do it

"The FA have today fined Man City £1,000 and given them a 4 point deduction"

I think they copied the Chelsea/Abramovich model. From 2003 when he came in, Chelsea bought a load of players for a ton of money (c€170m in each of the first two seasons, almost a decade before City spent that much), kept the best then steadily tweaked/added.
Sure but that's the best strategy, since there's no "opportunity cost" associated with getting it wrong.

If you have a blank chequebook and you sign three bad CBs, no matter, just go and buy a fourth, a fifth and a sixth

The Robinho transfer keeps getting trotted out but wasn’t there a similar transfer of Ballon d’Or winner/ world player of the year, George Weah? Remember seeing him all dressed up, looking very distinguished, looking bemused. Don’t think he was there long and just seemed to quietly move to another club.He went from Italian champions Milan to them tramps and I think just lasted a few months. Little wonder there was a fair bit of head scratching among fans and media.

“Come and sign for Manchester”… whoops

How the hell am I only now finding out that George Weah played for city?

I thought Weah went to Chelsea? Or am I old and remembering incorrectly?

Played for both, Chelsea for a few months, then City got promoted and he rocked up there for a handful of games, Joe Royal wouldn't play him regularly enough so he told them to shove it.

I think he might have only scored 1 league goal for each of them and they were both against Liverpool..

He scored a hatty against gillingham too. Weird that he reckoned he was sub too often. Played 9 started 7

Robert Lee was convinced to sign for Newcastle and not Middlesbrough because Keegan told him Newcastle was closer to London.

Footballers aren't known for their mental prowess.

Robinho in his introductory press conference announced his delight in joining Chelsea.

Besides, he's scum. His testimony is toxic. Probably has Lord Pannick in his contact list.

These charges are going nowhere. Forget about relegation and the like. Just remind all city fans what we all know they truly are: a cheating, right-wing vassal

Wow, where did that come from?

Remember this well, as the 1 appearance he actually made for Villa was at my local boys Wycombe in a pre-season friendly.

Feck me how long is this going to take. I can't open this thread in vain any longer, please you guys click send on this sucker.

It'll make the proper news when / if it ever happens, so you won't miss it.

City getting their 4 point deduction will be big news.

He assumes Abu-Dhabi is ran by right wing extremists. When they are an Islamic Monarchy where left and right don't quite apply...

....of course left and right apply.

Being Islamic and or a monarchy doesn't automatically exempt you from either description.

City are ran by what can only be (rationally) described as a right-wing dictatorship. If such an ownership model appeals to you (Qatar, perhaps) then you support the right-wing.

Sorry, lads, but that's how it works.
