Not a moment too soon, hopefully it don’t take them too long to set up. Effective systems from what I gather, though not foolproof against saturation strikes like this.

Their own troops will be deployed to prevent their own troops from starting on the Ukranian troops? Is that what they are saying?
Lukashenko is talking about Ukraine planning an attack on Belarus. He says the common Belarussian/Russian troops will be deployed on the border to prevent that. He isn't planning an attack himself.

The Crimea bridge seems to the humiliation that broke the camels back for Russian forces. But they can launch all the missiles they want at civilian targets, and it's not going to make a major difference for the Ukranian troops on the ground wiping the floor with Russian conscripts.

If Ukrainian pilots have started training on F-16s at the beginning of the invasion, they would already have them in the theater as with everything west is reactive instead of being proactive, every minute the price goes up.

Another low point for the pathetic Russian armed forces. They are only capable of murdering civilians and todays strikes will only strenghten the will of the Ukrainian people to defend it's freedome.

Yes, I know he's talking about that, but honestly, that's the most unlikely scenario. I was taking the piss saying that the only troops likely to attack are his own.

What's stopping Kyiv being flattened like Grozny or Aleppo? (I've not been following the news...)
He can't risk the west getting involved, which would likely happen if there was a Grozny style attack on a European capital.

What is this sick constraint that partners are putting on Ukraine by not allowing them to attack Russian military bases inside Russia? They can carpet bomb the civilians but got forbid Ukraine retaliates on military targets? Every constraint is seen as a sign of weakness and gives them confidence they’ll get away with it and sure they do.
On one of the Russian propaganda channels featured complaints that people weren’t being told that Ukraine are striking in Russia west of Belgorod, and the mayor of some town was the one to inform people.

No idea if it’s true, of course. Seems strange to claim they’re doing it if they aren’t, what if they go ahead and do it? You claimed it was already happening so why would there be a big response?

Nah, I’m just tired seeing Russia get away with everything basically. I’m not suggesting attacking Russia or anything though. It’s not meant to be used as it would be a deterrence from Russia acting stupid. They have given up their nukes by the way as part of the agreement that they would be protected.
This makes no sense at all. It is like saying Russia should have given nuclear weapons to Iraq or Vietnam, or Cuba (they did for a few months). There are good reasons why countries do not give nuclear weapons to other countries and should remain so. 9 too many countries have nuclear weapons already.

Belgorod they can reach with their own ammunition and weapons but when it comes to western supplied HIMARS/MLRS they had a chain around their neck until today at least and it was one of the main reasons they are yet to be provided with mid-to-long range systems like ATACMS.

Another moot point but it always gets me how so many videos by Ukrainian soldiers still have them speaking Russian language — while Putin's main excuse behind this war were the supposed repressions against Russian-speaking Ukrainians.

Yeah I never met a Ukrainian in the south who actually didn't speak Russian as their only language. That's what makes this entire thing so nonsensical. Putin used the excuse that he needed to invade to protect Russian speakers, when in fact he's been killing them en masse.

"Supposed" is wholly inappropriate. Minorities in Ukraine were treated like shit.

Some analyses are saying this is a way of Russia inviting Ukraine to negotiation table since they're losing on all fronts. On the sense we're destroy your infrastructure and make your life hell.
Only problem is even if that's true Ukrainians don't have a reason to negotiate at the moment and as a tweet above said Russians can't keep up with this kind of shelling.

I don't think it's anything more complex than Putin having nothing else he can do. Unless he goes nuclear this is all he has - throwing men to their deaths (which will work to some degree if he does it enough) and indiscriminate mass shelling. Even then the reaction is quite tame which makes me think there's stock in the idea they are running low on certain types of missile.

Technically, everything Putin is doing is designed to get the Ukrainians to negotiate a cease fire….on his preferred terms which include the annexation of land the Russians currently occupy, which of course will never happen.
