Can't remember the last time a player got disrespected like this by his club. It's. getting embarrassing and sad and I can't understand why de Jong is still there. I get the issue with the wages they own him, but surely he could sue them or something and get what he's owed, since Barca seems to have the money now considering they are whoring out the club to sponsors.

He agreed to reduced wages in exchange for a higher salary in the future. If he’s not there anymore once the higher wage kicks in, Barca legally don’t owe him anything.

I’ve lasted just shy of 3 months on this muppet train

I’m finally jumping off

I can see the final destination now and it’s not somewhere I want to go

Enjoy the final 5 weeks to those staying the course
Another muppet rings the bell :(
It's a shame, so close to the finish too...

Will we play Martinez at CDM and Frenkie at CB at some point this season for shits and giggles?

The more I read that, the worse it gets.

"I value him"
"then there's the economic situation"
"I like him at CB".

fecking hell!!! It's barely disguised. "He's a player of value, that we can sell to help our economy, and if he doesn't leave, he'll be a rotation choice at CB".

It's scumfeckery of the highest order.
I just can't understand how he could possibly want to stay after seeing all this crap going on around him. You'd never treat a player you genuinly respect and want to keep in this manner. Surely he must see that?
I think he knows the score now, and he's just pushing as hard as possible for the money he wants.

exactly. This has got to be driven home. FDJ's new contract says nothing about "owed wages ". There may be "loosely implied contract language". Foolishly, FDJ/his team never assumed Barca would look to sell to get out of those payments literally a year later.

Thats what i think a lot of people are missing in his, Barcelona legally owe FDJ nothing. There is no agreement over "deferred wages". He simply signed a new contract with the implied idea that big wages over the life of the contract was a "payback" of wages. There will be absolutely no wording in the contract that Barcelona owe him outstanding wages.

I think ultimately FDJ and Barca will agree to some sort of compromise on the deferred wages. FDJ did agree to current deal after all. I wish Barca and him would sort it out quickly as current stand off suits nobody.
It's a bit of a dangerous game. For sure there are some dubious clauses in the contract Frenkie signed, otherwise this would have been done and dusted by now, either by mutual agreement either in court.

One thing Barsa did during this whole saga is feck their image even more.

So smart, cnuty, but smart.

If he doesn’t feck off now, he’s an absolute wimpy bastard with zero self respect that deserves to be treated like shit by his employers.

if he leaves letting barcelona keep about 80% of his salary due he is an idiot. We need to calm down with the messages. Yes he is probably filthy rich but you’re talking about an employer trying to scum his way out of paying what was agreed.

now switch roles and think how you’d feel if your employer did exactly that to you during the covid period.

I don't know what I'd do at that point in all honesty, I said all along I'd have waited it out till close to the end of the window to get as much as possible from Barcelona, and maybe that's still the best thing to do, but feck me he's being put into a horrendous position.

I understand your point but in this case there is another employer who is ready to pay him nicely. He is not exactly getting sacked.

He doesn’t do coke, he guzzles warm Pepsi with his pot noodles.
Pepsi?? Coke?? POT NOODLES??

Barca are that broke he's probably eating budget food from the local crap shop. Unless he's embezzling funds for his personal food habit... hmmmm

Surely there was more said inbetween the part about the 'economic situation and fair play', and then the bit about Xavi liking hm as a CB

Given buying and selling footballers is pretty fecking fundamental in the game, I can’t believe a clause wasn’t inserted into the new contract to resolve this exact issue should he be sold during the course of the contract.

He wants his 17m!!!

They keep banging on about wanting clarity from him yet his been back for like 2 weeks now. Would have thought they would have got that solved right away. They really are a comedy club

Blame Frenkie’s legal counsel, it was his side who should’ve had the nous to see this

Xavi "then there's the economic situation"
"I like him in the club shop, he can draw in the customers"

You’ve got one of the most highly rated midfielders of his generation that you spent a bucket load on 3 years ago and now you want him at CB?

They want him gone.

Ding ding! You’ve rang the bell. Unfortunately that means that you no longer qualify for muppetdom. Enjoy your mental rest, I know it can be tough on the weakest. See you again next year when we will see who’s got the toughest mental balls to make it to MUPPETDOM

To be fair to Frenkie, i really don't think he ever envisioned a situation where he'd be booted out after doing all he could to help the club when they really needed it.
He obviously thought that they valued him and wanted him for the long haul.

Would you walk away with none of the 17million that you’re owed?? I’d do the same, tell them that I’m going to stay, on my high wages and force them so make an offer

I don’t see any benefit to anyone if he ends up staying there? Frenkie himself isn’t going to play much and if he does it’ll be CB by the looks of it, Barca struggle more financially if he stays and we badly need a midfielder like him.

In deals like these where everyone benefits from the move I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen.
