This thread will weed the weak muppets from the strong. It's like SAS training, it will be brutal, but those that survive will reap the rewards

Yeah, that's true.

I've always found it a bit odd that those who do live out in the country - seemingly - don't invest more in security.

I mean, they're absolutely loaded.

How much do you have to pay for 24/7 security? Perhaps I'm underestimating how much that actually costs.
It’s a lot. Someone like Ronaldo the club probably provides it or pays his team for him and his family, but don’t quote me on that.

In London, the billionaires usually have their own security teams on site and that would go into over £100,000s (maybe millions) yearly because your hiring ex military often special forces, and it’s a whole team on rotation.

Other less rich the neighbours might agree to pay for a private company to have a
security patrol on the road, that also varies probably £100k so worth it if all the neighbours agree to chip in. But then you’ll always get the one who’ll refuse and still reap the benefits of a deterrent on the road. But the latter won’t deter “pros” or the absolutely “desperate”

Problem with Cheshire is most the houses are probably widely separated and also behind might be wide open land.

Tag me if anything meaningful happens and I’ll return. Until then..

Hasta la vista, Frenkie
You rung the bell. For you that means you go home to get a nice meal and a good sleep. Sadly that means you have not achieved muppetdom, the level of the muppet. Feel free to reapply next year. Good luck quitter

The other targets should be identified by our scouting network based on their suitably to the team and squad and how we want to play going forward, that's what pretty much every other big club does.

I don't recall Klopp or Pep being given the go ahead when they first joined to try sign a former player of theirs at whatever cost and ignore other possibilities, do you?

Anyway, we disagree. We'll see if he was worth spending the wholes summer trying to get. i.e. if we actually do get him.
Ah, the same scouting department that has done a wonderful job so far?

Riiiiight.

I know what you're getting at, but i still have more faith in Erik then our scouting department and top management.

It was never for me anyway. Who am I kidding. I just want a nice easy life and that’s it.

Barcelona don't owe him €17M. They owe him €90M. That's £76M. Over 4 years that's an average per year of £19M, or £365k a week

That's the basis for any negotiation with the player. My guess, if it is true that the player is negotiating with barcelona, is that United are offering him less than what he figures he stands to make by staying and they(FdJ and United) are asking Barcelona to cover the difference

Yup exactly this. We were going to have him on 310-320k p/w last I heard. That lines up with the 17M number.

Yup, helping your employer out of kindness might come back to haunt you.
Younger me has done just that and regretted it.

"We're small, growing"

Help them grow, they hire outside for more, find out months later, left with no leverage and ultimately no big bump until you literally put in your notice.

Same experience startup, midsize and large public co. Lessons finally learned...much too late

Had to post in the 900th page. This has been a weird combination of tiring and entertaining. It'll all end in delight when he signs.

So if you’re a premier league player, a couple weeks of your salary for full security. Hmmm….what a decision !

Ah i see. So a difference of how much? This won’t end well.

Is he going to though? Seems like he’s gonna play hardball to make sure he gets his barca money. He won’t play this season (or they’ll be forced to play him since they can’t register other players, or a bigger sponsor will come in to make up the difference, if i understand that’s the issue isn’t it?) but the World Cup will give him playing time. Save some legs for his career long term

When this is all said and done FDJ defo needs to sack his agent
Why? He's a good negotiator.

Most got pay cut and nothing in return.

FDJ loves barcelona. He wont want a move. If the club forced him out he might get a hefty loyalty bonus which could amount big if the agent covers his back.

It's better than being forced to a paycut due to covid. Most workers dont get bumper contract.

The ball is totally in his court even as we speak..he could still play for Barcelona and still got his wages.

I don't think the club are muppet enough to wait on this one. They will move on someone else pretty soon you have to assume.

That's my whole point though. We're supposed to be moving away from that and towards having a decent scouting department like other big clubs!

There is so much vocal press now about him categorically NOT wanting to join, is it even a good idea for him to join us anymore?

Response to this is: Why doesn’t he just tell ten Hag he does not want to go to Manchester? If he prefers Chelsea, why hasn’t he signed for them?

As the late, great William Goldman said: Nobody knows nothing.

We have to, you cant negotiate for a player for the best part of 3 months

Who knows if we go public looking at alternatives it might push Barce into action and pay him he money.
