We're in very dangerous times right now and he still wields a lot of power.
Does he though? Cause I'm not convinced he's actually allowed to do anything anymore.

This might be a silly question but 1) are chances high of Trump being impeached and 2) if he does get impeached does this mean he can't run in 2024?

1) Very unlikely. And even if he gets impeached (by House) he needs to get removed from the Senate. McConnell can simply run the clock, and even if he starts the trial, it is quite unlikely that there will be 20 GOPsters who will vote to remove him (I think only Murkowski, Collins, Romney and Sasse would vote for that). Most likely McConnell will simply let the senate continue its recess.

2) He needs to be impeached from the House, removed from the Senate and then senate needs to pass a resolution that he cannot run for a federal office again.

Probably still not enough republicans that would turn on him. I think it would need a 2/3 majority in the senate.

The strategy is to leave him clinging to Republican support NOT to have him permanently disbarred from public office. A severe temptation to Senste leadership and ambitious GOP lawmakers, and makes him not want to do any more wild stunts for fear of leaving in handcuffs. It’s a restraint grip. Has disadvantages in being a distraction from Biden/Harris, but may be needed.

Don Jr having a big old cry on Twitter

The 1984 comparisons are out obviously. No free speech they say on a platform everyone can listen to them on. They want speech without consequences.

all those people who bet on Trump to be impeached or not see out his first term with a glimmer of hope at the death!

I've just learned from CNN that an impeachment trial can still be held after Trump is no longer President. And if convicted he would be barred from ever holding federal office again.

That prospect might even persuade GOP Presidential hopefuls to vote to impeach, because it would remove him from any competition in the primaries.
