Its somewhat ironic that people want players who want to play for the badge when our longest serving players are universally disliked - Smalling, Jones and Young.

Could it be because Jones and Young are basically shit and should have pushed out of the door 2 years after signed?

People want players that wants to play for the club and good enough for Utd

Thats my point, worse players will stay cause they've got no where better to go.

I've been saying that for years. The guys who would get all emotional about the OSheas, the Phil Nevilles and the Quinton Fortunes of this club staying at this club, calling them long servants of the club or even legends. Why on earth would these players would ever want leave? The alternative would have been Sunderland or Everton not Real or Barca.

Not many (top players) are going to want to play for us without a big pay cheque as evidenced by our signings so far.

Who says we need and want all the top proven players?

We mostly are looking for players that have potential to become one.

We've seen what happens when good players sign for the money and then promptly don't bother... As average as Mata and Lingard are; what you get from them is much, much more than what you'd get from a disinterested ADM, Sanchez, or potentially Dybala. If anything, their presence can be seen to be counterproductive, rather than just anonymous which is what you get from the other who just aren't very good.

Hard work will always trump talent when the talented lack the professionalism and dedication required. It's not very difficult to comprehend.

And we haven't gotten anywhere with the likes of Mata and Lingard. My point is, why don't we just go for quality? If hes young or not too old, we should do whatever we can to get these players in. If a top quality player like Dybala is available, at a good age, we should have signed him.

Meh … league titles in a one-horse, inferior league? If they played in the Prem they'd be a in dog-fight for top 4 and might well finish below "tiny" Spurs. That's the reality.

Juve have won league titles over the course of decades when different teams in different eras have been strong, Milan, Inter, Roma, Lazio, etc. Spurs have never managed to do anything close to this. Its not like you were winning silverware then the oil clubs came and ruined it

Exactly. And this is where, the club seems to be heading. The focus has been getting the right quality player, with the right mentality for us and to fit the philosophy how we play as a club. It's not going to happen over night, especially in the position we find ourselves in now, outside of CL and not been a contender for a while. It will take patience and bravery to stick to our guns, not repeat obvious mistakes of the last 6 years.

This whole Dybala they had to give it a go - a top quality player that does fit most of what they are trying to target in players and at that in a deal that sees us move a player on that doesn't. But, he doesn't want to be here, so probably for the long term will not have the right mentality unless every thing is going his/our way. So let's move on - we were willing to stick to our youth as options because there hadn't been a viable attacking target this window in the first place.

There’s no such thing as a slow rebuild. It’s all bullshit but people choose to bury their heads in the sand. This should have been a must signing, whatever the cost.
Yes, i agree with that. I think that fans are just finding excuses now to feel better. Personally i don't understand that phrase "we need players who want to be here". We have bunch of players who want to be here( because this is best they can have in their careers). And we don't get anything from them. Our best player doesn't even want to be here. Do fans think that Dybala wouldn't play good and he would just enjoy in money? No, he would be playing on 100%. Not because he is in United and "wants to die for the club". It would be because it is in his best interest.

Players play for the money and success. Not because they have some romantic feelings towards club, tradition or something like that. Sure, it is honour to play for biggest clubs in the world but it is not high in their priorities. Accept it. They are all mercenaries.

You're ignoring what I'm saying. We tried exactly that when we signed the likes of ADM, Sanchez, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Schweinsteiger, Ibra, Depay. With the exception of Ibra and Schweinsteiger, all of them were either approaching or at their peak, and in Depay we had one of the most sought-after young players in Europe. Almost all of them flopped or flattered to deceive. All of those purchases have basically accounted for close to 280m in transfer fees alone; let alone their wages.

Quality alone is useless if the person doesn't want to be here or isn't committed and bought in to the project. We went down the route of bringing in those players, budget be damned; and where did it leave us? ADM was kept out of the side by Ashley fecking Young on merit by the end of his season, ffs!

#Juve is #United will make another attempt for #Dybala is #Lukaku but the deal remains complicated

either Dybala or Juventus would have announced #DybalaStays if it was all over. Perhaps something is being worked on behind the scenes (most likely agent fee reduction, as his agent is actually doing nothing here, no need to engineer a deal or anything)

They still want to sell him. Remember that their window is open until September 2nd or something like that. He might very well still leave for a team outside the PL.

I remember reading a tweet earlier on today about Juve's sporting director heading to United's HQ in London again. What was he doing there for? Lukaku's agent apparently will be there as well. What the hell are they meeting for if they can't afford to buy Lukaku?

They will probably try to replace Dybala with other rejects, like Matuidi + Rugani + 30m for Lukaku or something.

They will probably try to fork out a deal. But the club was right to make a stand. Agents are killing so much deals.

Highly unlikely. Not many teams can offer wages above our level (we offered a a lot). Even fewer teams can pay a transfer fee they want.

Then, not all teams need him, to start with (RM, Atletico and Barcelona clearly don’t, at least - they have players of similar calibre in attack, if not better).

He may not demand as high wages with others as he did with us. With no Champions League pull or realistic title challenge its little surprise he'd want to be paid a better premium with us

We may take Pjanic and Bernardeschi, would be Ok.

And why should he care about CL, if currently his prospects are likely to be reserve team football in Italy. Juventus’ participation in CL has nothing to do with Dybala if he is to be transfer listed and demoted from the squad.

You really think his agent would do that

Loan move with obligation to buy. That’s one option.

I'm sure we can get 11 guys from a Sunday league to play for the team all of them hardworkers. Who needs the dybalas and messis to win titles.

The mental effort to suggest we don't need guys like dybala because he isn't interested in signing is out of this world. We are not winning anything for years and years if we start guys like lingard Phil Jones and fellainis.but please let's stop trying to secure top talent because hard work beats talent.

If Juve really wants to get rid, security should hold Dybala while Nedved is taking a dump in his training shoes in front of him.

Don’t think this was the moment to make a moral stand tbh if that’s really what it was. If, and it’s a big if, we’ve walked away because of fees etc we are absolute imbeciles. He’s a perfect age, perfect profile, something we need badly.

If he wasn’t up for it and said no flat out then that’s another story.

So, according to you, did Pogba and Ibra flatter to deceive or did they flop?

I disagree respectfully. they can feck off. We aren't desperate for him. A number 8 or pure right winger is a bigger requirement for us anyway.

I do so hope that this one has fallen through and is dead and buried. Had more than enough with De Maria and Sanchez arriving for no other reason than the wad of cash we dangled before them. Dybala seems of a similar mould. Players who could not care a tinkers fig for the club are rarely worth the price of admission.
