Dybalas own demands is likely not going to be as stupid for a club in the Champions League.
That’s fine but we aren’t getting either this window. We could have gotten a top tier player to take some creative burden from Pogba. We desperately need more players on his level, not continue to see Mata and Lingard frustrate week in week out.
And signed a player joining for the wrong reasons. We were right to play hard ball, sick and tired of bending over for brand players now.
I don’t believe that for a second tbh. Yes, we are not in the CL this season, but a CL team would be paying the same imo.
We will probably not know this as Dybala will probably be stuck at Juventus. It’s not looking good for him. They are ruthless over there and he/the agent are going to have to deal with that.
What top player is going to want to join us for the right reasons? People need to stop living in this fairytale. We are fecking rubbish, have been since 2012 now. Have spent a feck ton of money and are the 6th best team in England. These top players want to be winning champions leagues, not busting their balls to try and qualify for it, playing for an unproven manager, a board that continuously make terrible decision after terrible decision and a club that severely lacks direction.
The only way we tempt these players is with money, simple as. We offer money and the ability to build your brand. When it comes to football, there are far better places they can go to.

Depends on the club perhaps. If PSG sure they would but I don't see Tottenham doing that. Wages would be more negotiable if you sell on other factors (ie being a consistent champions league club).
Also he's in a good position staying at Juve. The club will likely win more silverware which he will be a part of, and he holds out for a club he actually wants to play for (PSG, Real, Barcelona or whoever)

That's why we don't go for ready made top players. It's in part that stupid approach without any actual direction that got us here. We go for players on the cusp of greatness and sign them. It's not a fairy tail approach, it's pragmatic. The same pragmatism that brought Liverpool and Tottenham to the next level.
They didn't dick around with brands but rather they brought in Salah, Firminho, Mane etc. Us bringing in AWB and Maguire who will undoubtedly grow to better levels as they gain even more experience is the way forward.

Laugh all you want but when they reach the Champions League final it sells more to a player than anything we can offer in footballing terms.
How is that any different to us signing players like Martial, Herrera, Dalot, Fred etc? These players are in the Salah etc. group of players but have underwhelmed here. It has nothing to do with how big the player's brand is, Liverpool signed very good players who were relatively unknown, had nothing to do with their status.
When you sign big players, you are buying ready quality. Them continuing to struggle here is on us rather than them, due to terrible management and a lack of structure.
You sign good players, you get better. These players are sought after because they've proven they are quality.
Literally none of those players are on the cusp on greatness. Bar Herrera they all had quite a few question marks for one reason or another.
We are taking far more educated guesses in our approach. They clearly need to be proven to a better degree before we go for them.

I honestly think we should give him 350 k and give him a chance. For a swap with Lukkaku it's a no brainer. He's serial champion and gifted. It might Di Maria all over again, but then if he doesn't work out we can sell him to PSG or something.

People crying about not signing Dybala obviously didn't grow up watching truly great players like Keane & Becks in '99 for us. Dybala is a nobody compared to some players we've seen at OT.

Now after Juventus management team has sold Kean to Everton, swap Cancelo with Danilo and got a good chunk of cash in the process with Mandzukic still for sale, I guess they might not need to sell Dybala after all.
Those deals were always potentially happening and they were still looking to move Dybala on. He's going to stay not cause they want him to, but because noone else seems to want to fork out the cash required. PSG maybe if Neymar leaves, but I don't see him leaving.
Aside that (or possible more) His agent wanted £13m and on top he wanted imaging rights. Kinda makes him look very mercenary like, assuming any of the reports are even true.
Maybe you are right, but it's a matter of how soon for a player turning 26 like Dybala. It would be quite a big leap of faith for him to spend his peak years at a club struggling to rebuild for the past 7 years.

As for Pogba, many believe he had his best season last time out. It's a bit harsh to include him in your list of flops and disappointments.
Absolutely. In a time where we are losing Lukaku and replacing an old Mata and Lingard with TWO DAYS left of the transfer window, we should bend over backwards for a player of Dybala's profile. No argument there.

Could well be. If they buy Sane, i doubt they will go for Dybala. But if it falls through, then they are a realistic option. They need someone to appease the fans and they have 100m+ for a star player in their budget.
If Bayern dont go for him, then only PSG or maybe Inter can 'save' him, both look unlikely at the moment.
From a transfers perspective, I would say yes. Now its up-to the management team to make sure it happens!
James is a right footed young winger. Has mostly played on the right during pre-season. If you don't classify that as a potential RW signing then you're being a bit unfair. He can play left, but the benefit of a player his age is to be able to use him tactically where it suits the team best.
Lukaku is no longer a starter for the club. Ole made that change last season itself. Yes, we may be a bit short on strike force if he is sold and no one else comes in, but it's clear that Ole is relying on Martial and Rashford to come good this season. You may think that's a folly, but it's been starting at our faces all pre-season. All our systems / tactical innovations are structured to get the best out of those two. Plus, i'd rather we play a few youngsters (Gomes and Greenwood) than give minutes to Lukaku (who really looks like he doesn't care that much anymore).
Midfield - i agree, but like I mentioned, keeping Pogba is a big plus.
Attack and No. 10 - This is basically a rehash of point 2. Don't agree there, we have enough players to play that position. You may not fancy them (Mata, Lingard, Periera, Gomes, Fred, Sanchez) - but we definitely arent short of bodies there. CB was clearly a bigger priority that this position.

That's all fine and dandy re Pogba if we bought him in 2018, but we didn't. We got him two years earlier and for his price tag and expectations, he's absolutely flattered to deceive.
