Now watch as the next time he has a quiet game against a top team he will be branded not good enough against the big boys.

It's like performances like today just get magically erased soon after.

This was a much more mature performance than a psg one, where draxler found so much space behind him and, matic was left isolated. That assist and a goal was sublime.

Was disappointing against PSG, but it happens. But he’s been great in the three other big matches under Ole. Something he wasn’t doing under Jose.

I'm tiring of hearing about how disappointing he was against PSG. Their entire gameplan was built around nullifying him and leaving it to Herrera or someone else to create for our attackers. Not to mention we lost 2 of our 3 attackers before half and replaced them with dross. For me Herrera let us down much more than Pogba did considering he had 2 markers on him at all times, and Herrera was constantly afforded space to which he couldn't take advantage of. He's decent at arriving into the box but when given the ball in the final third and asked to attack he's mostly shocking nowadays. It's one of the sneakily weak parts of our squad that needs to be addressed since it seems Fred can't cut it at the moment.

So he wasn’t disappointing?

Make up your mind. Yes he was man marked but that’s no excuse. Teams will do that to special players, so he’d adapt to that like the best players do.

Being man marked isn’t a excuse. He knew himself after the game that he didn’t have his best game.

If you wanna talk about Herrera then go to his thread.

Never forget a big portion of our fans turned on him in favour of Mourinho. Was as mind boggling then as it is now.

Mourinho would make a great politician. Top class divisive tactics! He managed to fool a lot of people into thinking Pogba was a big problem in the squad.

I hope they are were Jose is now, out....

Klopp will try to copy PSG's tactics on Sunday to nullify him, hope we find a way around

Think I’ve said this in a previous post-game but he looks like scoring or assisting EVERY game!

What a player. (But Herrera took MOTM for me haha)

They don't have anyone even close to Marquinhos to do that job. I think he'll do just fine.

I want to see him take on some of those long shots and challenge Rashford on the free-kicks. Any goalkeeper should be terrified to see those two line up behind the ball.

How does he have a 6.2 avg rating? What barometer do people use with these numbers? I tend to use 6 as average, 7 good, 8 very good, 9 exceptional, 10 perfect, 5 poor, 4 awful 3, limited time, red card, OG etc.. i must use a different scale to most...

Best MF in the world hands down. Amazing overall set of physical attributes and skill, unique ability for a MF to dribble, run with the ball and send a sublime pass. Hope we can tie him down with a new contract and surround him with enough talent so we can start winning big.

Redcafe rating shouldn't be taken seriously. Most of the rating are done right after the match, so when we lose most of them gets shit ratings.

I think he is 2nd highest rated. First is De Gea with 6.6, then Lindelof, Pogba and few more have 6.2

They have a very solid midfield and for sure can do a job on him if we dont play it smartly
Solid, but Marquinhos could actually physically match Pogba, whilst he also had players like Dani Alves coming at him as well. I very much doubt anyone in Liverpool's midfield can match Pogba physically.

I hope you are right but your take is a bit simplistic.

PSG might have excellent defensive players in midfield but they can't run as much as Liverpool's midfielders who are better at closing down spaces.

The game between us and PSG was relatively slow and didn't require much running. In terms of physical effort it was of poor quality: we ran 100 km vs 102 km for PSG. That's quite unimpressive at that level.

In contrast, Liverpool ran 122 km (!) against City in January and will put us under more pressure than PSG were able to do. If we run 100 km again, Liverpool can win that game without much problems.

He more than made up for his performance against PSG. Great game from him. I always shout Paul fecking Pogba whenever he scores or provides an assists.

these feckers know who they are but are staying silent or arguing that that the earth is flat, that they were never wrong to begin with and have gone on to take the snobby high ground on other matters on the forum now

I just bloody need him to put Liverpool in their place. A goal and an assist and him and Lingard moonwalking Klopp out of the stadium.

If he was at Juve now, I would say they win the Champions League and Serie A double comfortably.

If he was at Barca, I would say they win the Champions League and La Liga double comfortably.

We need to build a stronger supporting cast around him, because this guy is absolutely one of the best in the world. But he doesn't play in a role where he can carry us every single game. That LCM/attacking fusion is akin to Di Maria 13/14, and he's replicated nothing of the sort ever since.

Don’t forget, even after Mourinho was sacked:

“We should sell Pogba as well because player power”

What were the contrasting stats between Liverpool and PSG earlier in the group?

The premier league is always different to Europe in terms of running / space provided.

So does he have 13 assists as it says on his profile here or is it 10 as it says on Transfermarkt?

5 is average. I've got him as a 6.8 with 9 MOTMs.

1 is a game that could be their last for the club
2 means they cost us goals
3 is a poor game and may have cost us goals
4 is played as a passenger
5 is average
6 is doing their job
7 is doing it well
8 is a very good game
9 is a brilliant game
10 is something special

I gave him a 9 for Chelsea.

It's 10. Caf count is wrong or the place they fetch records from is wrong. All the other sits like official PL/CL one, whoscored.com, transfermarkt recorded 10 assists.

Maybe caf one counts free kicks won (which are converted) as assists too.

Liverpool ran 120 km vs City in the CL last season and City ran 120 km vs Spurs away this season. Running stats have little to to do with the difference between CL and PL but with the ability to press all over the pitch. It's not clear whether Liverpool are in top physical form now (they weren't vs Leicester and Wham) but if they are, it won't be a problem for them to press with greater intensity than PSG. PSG have relatively poor stats running wise and this might be a problem for them in the later stages.

@Damien can we clarify this? Winning penalties + free-kicks that are subsequently converted, as well as taking shots from which rebounds are scored, can be counted as assists depending on how you look at it. In Pogba’s case, is the Caf’s assist number based on that or is the ‘13 assists’ just completely wrong?

Just took 3 Liverpool games.

Liverpool 1-0 Napoli: 118 km vs 114 km
Napoli 1-0 Liverpool: 112 vs 112
PSG 2-1 Liverpool: 105 vs 106
Liverpool 3-2 PSG 104 vs 101
Liverpool 4-0 CZ: 108 vs 111
CZ 2-0 Liverpool: 115 vs 109

I think distance covered depends on other team too. Looks like PSG brought down Liverpool's distance covered to average level.

I think it is counting them. @Niall is the only one who knows for sure.

Martial didn't get an assist for winning the penalty against Everton but Pogba's shot was saved before he scored the rebound, so it was right on that front.

Did Rashford get an assist for Lukaku’s goal at Newcastle?

@roonster09

Yes. So Pogba got assist for Martial goal vs Arsenal. Also Pogba won freekick vs Leicester and Juventus which was converted. I think that's why he has 3 more assists on CAF vs other sites.

Fabinho maybe... well, we will see

Believe it or not, my average rating of him is 8.2 here. I must be his biggest fan.

Shame on you all who rate him 6.2 or below in average.

Liverpool 1-0 Napoli: 118 km vs 114 km

PSG 2-1 Liverpool: 105 vs 106
Liverpool 3-2 PSG 104 vs 101

Good point. Still, I think that Liverpool hit top physical form only in December and peaked vs City. In October they ran only 109 km against City vs 122 km in January. The run of the game and tactics play a role too. The game at Anfield was more tactical and positional, City were quite cautious in their approach. I think we were a bit too cautious against PSG too and didn't trouble their defence. But I wouldn't mind if we are cautious vs Liverpool as they are deadly on the counter.
