That was awful from us. Credit due for getting the draw when we were way below the level required, but still an absolutely maddening display from us. I've never watched such a piss poor display from a CM than Pogba. It's like he totally forgot how to play football. Literally every single thing he did today failed to come off. Still, we had the best chances to win it, but what was Jose thinking bringing Rooney on? Surely has to be the end of him ahead of Rashford as an impact sub?

The reason I'm not so down is after being down for a long time the goal came as a relief. Overall it was a disappointing day.
Was a weird game. Team and crowd seemed shell-shocked after penalty, almost like a red card loss of confidence.

2nd half was a sleep show until your fav player Fellaini came on :p

Yeah, in the context of the game, a late equaliser was just about acceptable but I'd been so hyped today, not felt like that in sooooooooo long, so it's a real damp squib to have to relinquish any hopes of winning the title today.

Today was always going to be a very hard game, Liverpool are a good team however much some want to deny it. Having said that, the game basically turned on both Pogba's miss and penalty incident. We are all disappointed but we got the draw at least.

What's interesting is that we just played the 2nd placed team in the league and we are disappointed that we did not win.
Last season, we'd have been breathing a sigh of releif to get away with a draw against a decent team.
I think our expectations are definitely rising.

It'll be interesting how our fans behave when we play CFC. Would they be disappointed if we "only" drew against CFC?

At least we got a draw and there were good performances from de Gea and Herrera.......Jones and Rojo continuing to form an excellent centre back partnership.
But when you pay 89 million for a player you expect him to be something special like Ronaldo,Messi or Iniesta.
Up to now,Pogba has been more like Emile Heskey ! Hopefully,he will be better next seson.

Pogba has been amazing most of the season, and we paid that money for a very good player, with potential to get even better, and counts as a home grown player for us (pretty sure). Besides his first 2 or 3 games and this one, he has consistently been on of our better players

Performance levels (and rightly therefore, expectations) are definitely up from last season. I think we've probably just about found our level now though. Can dispatch Palace, West Brom, Sunderland, Middlesborough, Hull etc with relative ease (which is a genuine, tangible improvement on much of the last three years) but Liverpool, even at home, is a hurdle we can't quite clear. Mourinho's had the squad for more than 6 months now, there not much reason to expect a massive upturn in performance from this group of players and we're the same number of points adrift of 4th position as we were a month ago.

What a statement

Both teams happy they didn't lose, it was a poor game technically speaking, you had the better chances. If you go on form we would have been more happy with the point before the game, but on the strength of the match itself, considering you were behind till late on, you'd be more happy with the result than us.

Sorry, but for all the money you've spent, your big players don't tend to turn up against the better sides from what I can see.

We were poor but it puts a huge dent in the bin dippers title chances and we will only get better.

A Van Gaal or Moyes Utd loses that game 3-0 today after Pogba's brainfart.

Happy. We are still on a good unbeaten run - Stoke next.
How so? We have lost 2 games all season, 7 points off the top and have played all the other top 5 sides away already. We've got big players coming back from injury, there is everything to play for.

Spot on from the guy.
Yeah, I agree with the sentiment of what this dude said in this video. Especially where he mentioned some of our players let the occasion get to them today.. Lack of composure.. We had 2 really good chances but asides that nothing much. Same as Liverpool didn't create much. Was entertaining but in terms of quality it seriously lacked in that match.

Sure we've spent a lot of money, we lost SAF, very difficult to bounce back from that and 3 years later we're doing it, bringing in quality but do keep in mind this isn't jose's first season with us, we all know what happens the second season.

Our big players that we've spent on? Pogba, Miki, Martial I'm assuming? I think you're wrong. Pogba played poorly today but you based a strategy around shutting out him and Carrick which worked, against the other big teams he's not done badly at all. He's 23 and he came from the Calcio A, different level here especially with the teams in the top 6 this year. I don't think you can say Miki doesn't perform vs the bigger teams you'd just have to go back and watch the replays and with Martial at 21 it's hardly anything to cry about, as we saw last season we know what he's capable of vs bigger teams, you 1v3ed him all game until he was off which is fair enough, it worked for the most part. I jus think don't think it's fair for you to say our big players don't show up I don't imagine you've watched a whole lot of our games or you probably wouldn't have such a stern opinion. In addition to this, this is Jose's first year with us give him time, he is still tweaking things within the team, don't be too quick to judge straight after you've just gotten a new manager but he's now had a year. Overall 1-1 is a fair result but doubt both teams are happy with that at all.

The top 5 aren't the problem for you lot. You still have to play Watford, Stoke, Leicester and Plymouth.

Shocked that people think Herrera had a good game. He gave away possession more than Pogba who was dire.
Rooney had a hand in our goal, but gets slated, while Martial who did nothing, is lauded.
Jose recognise our ineptitude in midfield and sought to bypass it with the faultless Fellaini. If only he had taken Pogba off for Mata instead...
Scousers were awful, but our soft centre gave them a free pass today.
Darmian is a traffic cone!
Hurry up and get back Luke Shaw.
This, the best way to sum up my feeling towards the game/this thread. The bold one is the biggest mistake by Mourinho in this game IMO. but understandable as he might hope Pogba to come good in the latter part of the game.

I take it you missed us against Arsenal and Spurs then.

Poor subs. Shoud have been Mata and Fellaini on for Pogba and Carrick at half-time. Bringing Rooney on for Carrick meant too much defensive responsibility on Hererra's shoulders. Fellaini should have been in there with him to break up play in midfield and play simple balls and get into both boxes at set pieces.

Edit: Also Blind on for Darmian.

He wanted to go direct so would have made no sense to take off your best passer Pogba, despite the game he was having.

The middle was so congested he removed Carrick and went with Pogba and Herrera only as the plan was to bypass that area anyway.

Usual game for us. Had many chances but wouldn't take it. The only reason we never thrash team this season.

Pogba - missed a great chance. The only thing he lacks for being world class at the moment is killer instinct in front of goal. Anyone would score that one on one.
Herrera - super tackling and passing in one.
Mhiki - missed a great chance. Should have an assist. Should have scored.
Zlatan - missed a great chance (being too slow). Great free kick for a change though. Couldn't believe it didn't go in.
Rooney - one good attempt but flagged.
Jones - shaky.
Rojo - solid.
Valencia - being Valencia.
Martial - missed a great chance.
De Gea - solid.
Mata - didn't do much.
Fellaini - not a United player so I won't comment on him.

MotM for Liverpool: Michael Oliver. That's so out of the blue. If that is a penalty. Why we never had it? Handballs in penalty, hacked in penalty but never got one.

Another minus point for commentator. WTF is this Valencia off side?

Our finishing is an issue but when you consider who we brought in it's hardly surprising, Martial is 21 he doesn't have the killer instinct just yet, he isn't as prolific as I expected and he wasn't at Monaco either.

Pogba, he doesn't score for fun and it's definitely something to work on. Ibra whilst he's scoring he contributes little the the actual build up play and flow of our football which hurts a little.

Miki has always had issues finishing even for Dortmund, he missed a lot of nice chances. We just need to add someone to our team that is super clinical, not even Ibra is that clinical considering how many chances he's had.

Griezmann would work if we could fit him and Poggers together, Mata would also work but would mean he plays out of position and that means Miki out to the left assuming Martial is the one being dropped. Overall we just need more goalscorers.

Wow. The bias is strong here. It was a clear pen and Valencia was marginally on/off. Some blinkered folks on tonight.

So you believe Micheal Oliver should go against the book because the other refs massively screwed up their jobs in other matches.

Bleah. Not happy with the result, but not happy with the performance either. We started well but the long balls in the second half managed to relieve the pressure. I think both of us needed the win and the draw doesn't help either of us.

This was a really weird game. They are an awful team to play against, counter-pressing is probably one of the hardest types of football to dominate against and in the first half we found ways to get through them but as we tired and they got the goal, the wind went out of us.

I am really surprised we didn't go full on hoofball out to Zlatan, he was so obviously isolated and attacks were rarely even getting out to him and even when he was on the ball it was so far away from the opponents goal. Just a really strange game.

Subs gave us some impetus off the bench and we nabbed a late equalizer when we were humping the ball over the top to Fellaini. Maybe two points dropped but a bit of a tactical head scratcher.

Browsing r/soccer just before and the salt is palpable. The result doesn't help us but I kinda like seeing the bitterness and hatred from rival fans again.

I thought Mourinho's subs were bad. Especially putting Mata in for Martial I thought was bizarre, putting a slow and weak player in a high intensity match with little space to play. Imo Rashford should've been put on to partner Ibrahimovic. He offers constant running both offensively and defensively. And he's pretty good in the air.

Also didn't understand why Herrera was kept on. With his inability to control the game on his own, Pogba had to compensate by dropping deeper. But why would you want a match winner like Pogba to have to compensate? Put Blind in there to control that midfield, or move Rooney back and see if he can do it. Because Herrera was kept on for so long, we could not keep Liverpool under constant pressure, and in the end, didn't really deserve to win.

Keep in mind, I only saw the second half.

Sky Sports app showing the 'talking points'.

'Zlatan equalises - but should it have stood?'

With no mention of an offside leading up to their penalty. Yet Rawk still think they're on our payroll

Not sure there has been a clearer penalty this season... Let's keep it real.
