Why can't Klopp get over the long ball thing? Endlessly dropping it on Sky and BBC....the ability to change up to tactics you don't like, though I don't think Mou likes any tactics, just what he thinks will win, is surely a sign of a top manager, something the Premier League demands, and a big part as to why Pep and Klopp are losing soft points.
At least United are top of the league in something. The most long passes this weekend.

Well done Jose .

So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
What I take from today is that we're still very much a work in progress. Any talk of thrashing them and challenging for the title was silly. Failing to win is a missed opportunity, but I'm not too disappointed. Considering our start to the season I'm happy we've made up ground on those above us. I'm happy we're heading in the right direction. But there's no denying we need to add more quality to the squad. We need more goals, that's been clear for ages. We'll be back stronger when we play them next season, of that I have no doubt.
My thoughts exactly, a work in progress. We've got the right man in place & he's spent well so far; got more out of good players than (I) expected. We're still very much in the race for a top four finish & playing well in a couple of cup competition. A little perspective all you other posters who sound like you're looking for a bridge to jump off.

Oh.. by the way.

The player who crossed the ball for your goal is clearly offside. Initially I thought it was straight fron the throw in so kept quiet. It came from a pass for him to cross. What makes it worse is the linesman is a few feet from him.

Almost done re-watching this, because I wanted to watch it again devoid of my reactionary emotions. I don't think our performance was really that bad. Pogba was poor, but overall I didn't think we were too bad.

Again though we simply aren't clinical in taking our chances and LB is a major issue.

Another problem for me is that in crossing situations I don't think we don't get enough late runs into the box which makes us less threatening when have the ball in wide areas. Also very underwhelmed by our set piece delivery and our runs and numbers when get the ball into the box.
I do this too and it's amazing how you can re-evaluate the match more objectively when there's a little less emotion involved.

Not to defend the linesman but he had a bad game.. Valencia was offside but he was 3 meters behind the line.. Had no chance, Lallana was offside aswell.. That said both teams were bad utd playing at home were a bit better but poor to. Herrera was good and Valencia.. Migde and Lovren good for pool.. Rooney was with Pogba on trying to win worst player in the park.. Klavan and Firmin-ho shit.. All in all fair result of two teams with to much to lose..

Most confident I have been in 3 years against a top, weakened side and we feck it. Complete bollox of a game just like every top team clash this season.

Terrible result, regardless of the stake.

'Pool fans are coming across almost Barcelona-esque with their snobbery over long balls and 'how the game should be played'.

Should have done it twenty minutes earlier.

I agree . They were shite and so was the ref. In the second half a Liverpool player harried a United player and he hoofed it and sliced it out.

A throw in to United .

They played long far more than I expected. Without Coutinho on their pitch it was our players creating their chances. They are no Barcelona. They just try and hound you into mistakes high up the pitch, there is very little creative spark that I could see. Just lots of running and organisation.

draw a fair result , but we put in a stinker of a performance.... could have been a hell of a lot worse in regards to top 4

Klopp really seems to have taken to Liverpool. Amazing petulance on display.

A combination of poor execution in the final third (particularly in the second half, where we played 45 minutes like it was the last 5) and sloppiness in defence meant we drew a game we should have won but, still, we are definitely on the up. Another summer transfer window with a competent manager backed by our huge resources and I expect a title challenge next year. For this year, top 4 should be achievable given the flaws of the teams still above us (Chelsea excepted, although the Costa issue might change that).

Too many people put so much stock into current form and forget how it's really like going into high profile matches.

These matches are always played tight with half chances and fine margins. Neither team played their best, but they weren't going to when it started. It was cagey, congested and compact.

Understanding that playing within yourself and letting the game come to you is imperative. Pogba failed in that respect today.

Klopp is a better football coach than mourinho. Look at the material he has got compared to mourinho. Shocking.

Klopp can GTF with his long ball references. What the feck do Liverpool do except run in groups at the opposition players in their defending third?

The Gegengooner needs to button it till he's won what Mourinho has.

This is from the official FIFA 2017 Laws which you can find at http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/sites/default/files/Laws_of_the_Game_2016_2017_Neutral.pdf

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm.

Handling the ball

The following must be considered:

• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.)

is an infringement

There was NO deliberate act to make contact with the ball with his hand
Movement of hand was NOT really towards the ball even though it was in the air
Position of the hand is irrelevant as Pog was so lost at the time he was in a ballet "spin"

So there is a reasonable argument the penalty was a poor if not incorrect call but one most refs in the heat of the moment are going to call

Annoying match.

Their pressing was very well implemented and we struggled with it.

Pogba was so far off the pace today, awful performance. He needs to knuckle down in the next few games to get back to a higher level again.

Zlatan did what Zlatan does.

As for the atmosphere in the ground...rubbish. The Stretford End had a go but their goal knocked the stuffing out of everyone.

Give the dippers some credit ... they're no mugs & have been playing well all season. Clever manager with clever tactics.
Very defensive tactics from Klopp today. I'm more disappointed with us not playing as well as we have been but it was important not to lose.
