I made a thread about this awhile back, but I'm saying this again: We need new full backs.

The amount of times Valencia wasted a crossing opportunity today is disappointing. I like him, he puts in a good shift, and is sound defensively nowadays, but we need full backs to do more in the modern game, and he is just now doing it.

Agreed. Liverpool played better than expected, at least better than their mid week performance. We weren't clicking as usual in the final third. But yeah - unbeaten in 16 - I'll take that. Onwards towards 4 completely winnable league fixtures leading up to the City game (which is obviously also winnable).
It was an miss judgment on utds part, those 2 cup ties were taken too seriously i guess

We did attack that side in the first half, but he always had help and they double or even triple teamed Martial when he had the ball.
That's why I'm talking about our left back did not help at all in attack, a proper left back there who at least make run forward and Martal will get one on one chance against the left back, and Pogba having the worst game of his life did not help either

Let me put it this way, a draw has calmed me down immeasurably.

What annoys me is that in many ways in the same old pattern that's been persisting for a while now. We create many chances but aren't clinical enough. Yes we usually score 1 or sometimes 2, but we can't get away with it every time, especially against the bigger teams. Pogba, Micky at least one should score really.

I'm really disappointed in Pogba, he missed and then gave away a penalty. Now look, it's one bad game, against a run of many good games but these are the games you expect your star player to show up in. Other then that he was physically weak. They all were physically weak, even Zlatan was losing aerial duels most times. Firmino was shrugging off practically everyone.

We have a tendency to get into around the box then just cross from anywhere but we do not challenge headers often enough. We need to improve that.

Liverpool were okay, but we were really over them until the penalty, from there it played in Klopps hands really as he set up for a counter, very nice...

Only joking they parked the bus Jose style. Exactly the same as at Anfield but in reverse, only that they managed to score (but also conceded). Now much stick will Klopp get for that?

Overall, it hurts us more than it hurts them. We have work to do but we didn't turn up for this one. Our quality was such that we salvaged a draw.

Disappointed but the stats did suggest that Liverpool ran 10km more than united today.

They made up for the lack of quality with greater teamwork, imo. Which it feels like our team is still lacking atm.

always hard to win these game when a combination of gift PK from Pogaba along side his worst performance in a long while, Ander not having a good game and Mingolet decided to play out of skin and rise his game. We just didn't look ourselves today.

Ended on a high note with the equaliser in a game of really low quality so I'll take it I guess. Annoying seeing us going as direct as we did but it worked in the end.

He is a veteran full back not in the spring of youth. Though he wasn't helped much with anyone overlapping.
Yes I agree we need a younger full back with good crossing

Why? We were struggling to pass the ball to each other in any sort of coherent manner... So going long to Fellaini made sense... Our shit passing couldn't hinder that.
Because we could have gone aggressively wide and used Fellaini in that way. We just started playing like Wimbledon c. 1989 because he was on the pitch and it was unnecessary.

Ah yes, we'll get top 4 with a rate of one win in 6 games against the top 5. Should have got a grip, silly me.
Under LVG we had a better record against the top teams, where did that get us? Big wins mean nothing when you cant beat half the other teams.

Pogba was the worst player on the pitch today. Our favourite pass was Jones to De Gea. We seemed more scared of them than they us. The ironic thing was we picked up when Fellaini came on, so why couldnt we play like that intensity earlier on? Saying that i'm not a fan of hoofball either. The best thing today was we didnt lose, and thank god for Zlatan!

Well, it certainly felt that way with you seemingly being upset with people being confident on a Manchester United forum, going into a game on the back of a long win streak.
I just don't think it ever pays to be overconfident in a game like this and I'm forever proved right.

A long win streak means absolutely nothing against Liverpool. Never has and never will.

Being overconfident full stop makes you look like a twat. If we win, you look like a know-it-all twat, if we lose, you look like a stupid twat.

Besides the handball, Pogba was just Pogba, getting in the wrong positions, turning and beeing completely surprised by what's in front of him, business a usual. Defensive set up, build up from the back as poor as is has been all season, and the attacks are waiting what Zlatan does and improvise on it, but not too intelligently. It was just good enough to get a good streak against lesser teams, with a little luck, but to challenge for the title the football is just not fluent and quick enough.

Martin Tyler and Gary Neville are not enough? You need more representation?
Martin Tyler's reaction to Agueros last minute, premier League winning goal for City a few years ago, tells you all you need to know.

Shocking poor midfield. It's a pity but you could almost tell Carrick will struggle against Liverpool pressing (very effective I have to say). The less said about Pogba the better. Throwing Rooney was weird I thought, the other two changes rather expected.

We missed Bailly composure from the back massively today. Jones was a shambles.

Well, yes. How exactly do you expect to finish in the top 4 when you can't get better results than them, nor can you actually beat them when you play them?
"Embarrassment of a performance. It's why we should focus on the Europa League. "

This is why you should get a grip, you can't seriously recommend the club to focus just one competition. You want results but you are unambitious as you can be. How do you expect players to have high standards when you, the fan, is happy for them to just focus on Europa League. You think the performance is embarrassing, i say such comments are embarrassing. We should fight on all fronts and breed fighting mentality. So, get a grip.

PS: They are dropping points too.

I'm not blaming him. (well maybe he could work on his crossing a wee bit) I love Valencia. He's the kind of player you want in a squad. He's there and doing "a job", in a sense.

But we need better.

Also, with regards to overlapping. He's the one overlapping and he's the one with the opportunities to cross, get to the byline or get in the box.

Look at what players like Seamus Coleman, Rose or Marcelo do. We need something similar.

Worst performance in ages. Deserve nothing from the game. Flattered by a point. Absolutely flattered.

Have to question the preparation. Everyone to a man looked an absolute bag of nerves. Never deserved less from this fixture in God knows how long. Robbed a point we didn't deserve.

Shit.

The worst we've played all season. Shows that we shouldn't get excited about beating poor teams like we have because the top 5 are a different standard to the rest of the league.

Not sure what our tactics were except for hoisting it towards Ibra who got dominated for most of the game.

Tight match. The team can play better.

Jones made me nervous. Another opposition GK MotM.

Can't win every match.

Yeah, but we are fans on the Internet. There's always going to be people feeling great about United's chances before a game.

So Pogba had a new haircut and and "first ever" twitter emoji honour which Utd social media went crazy about before and during the match.
And then he played ultra shite.

We didn't adapt to their pressing too well but in the first half had 2 very presentable chances and the zlatan free kick too. Score one or two of those and it's a different game.
Big games are decided on those moments and for whatever reason we weren't quite there today. Frustrating but a draw isn't the end of the world. A defeat would have been.
Pool only started getting chances as we started throwing caution to the wind......

What opportunities to cross did Valencia waste really? You mean the one in which he crossed straight to Zlatan's head when other fullbacks would have tried to shoot at goal?

I only remember one cross that hit the first man at the end. Also, most of our corners from Rooney, Mkhi couldn't even reach the box.

Pogba and Mhiki should have scored. Really can't go missing those opportunities against top opposition.

The ball came off Rojo, wasn't a pass. And you seem to forget that you scored from an offside goal?
The ball was played by Firmino and deflected off Rojo. The latter did not play the initial pass and therefore it was offside. I'd have to see our goal again if there's a gif - I thought your centre back was playing him on; if I'm wrong maybe things evened out.

Our finishing has been a real issue though. I don't believe there's a single team in the league that have had more chances you'd expect to score; but the teams ahead have scored 9-17 more than we have. It's one of the reasons I think Mata needs to start more.

I thought we were much the better side after the penalty, especially in the second half. The press bothered us in periods, but Pogba's brainfart aside, they did not create too much.

We missed too many chances, put them away and things look very different, its been the story of the season to be honest.
