The Thin Red Line is definitely one of my favourites too. Amazing film.
Visually stunning, I thought the story was just ok.

I like the overall theme. Very poetic.Visually stunning, I thought the story was just ok.
Definitely Algiers, it's quite exceptional and still very relevant today.I have Battle of Algiers and Gone with the Wind sitting on my laptop for ages. Which one should I be watching first?
cheers!Definitely Algiers, it's quite exceptional and still very relevant today.
Not watched many Hitchcock film
Strangers on a train, Vertigo and Rear Window , will be watched this week.
Yeah. I really enjoyed the film but ended up deeply frustrated at the way it was spun out, at times, needlessly.Likewise. It badly needs some editing (or should I say even more editing as he shot hours and hours of film). It's like listening to some big rock group of the 70s doing 15 minute drum solos.
The Renny Harlin classic.Grouse list mate
Point Blank is a really good shout
The Long Goodnight, is that Altman or Harlin?
The Renny Harlin classic.
But no, Altman, got my masterpieces mixed.
Casablanca is kind of film noir.
Yeah, kind of.Casablanca is kind of film noir.
The Long Goodbye is also a Phillip Marlowe, so that means I have three.
So we are actually starting this?
HunnaWhat's the plan here, list 30, list 100? I'm half tempted to start allowing more modern films into my list, depending how big I guess. Test of time means a lot to me in these things, but I might be able to squeeze one post 2010 onwards film in.....and it'll probably be Moneyball, feck I'm stunned how much that film has grown on me and I loved it in 2011.
It's the same for me.I feel like I should have more Billy Wilder but I don't really have strong feelings for Some Like It Hot, Double Indemnity, Sunset Blvd even though I admire them a lot.
Great shout. I felt really bad for leaving it out.3. It Happened One Night (1934)
I'm currently living in ignorance.Do we have a voting format? Seems it'd be a nightmare to compile without one.
56. A Fish Full of Dollars
It's no The Cod The Bass and the Guppy.
Still holds up very well I think , I am happy with my list, some wild cards in there.Good stuff.
I considered All Quiet on the Western Front, it's quite remarkable how well it still holds up.
Don't bother then.Meh, why bother? Top 20 is sure to be a combination of the usual suspects(not the movie) and Nolan(ugh), with little to no animation or movies in a different language than English. Yawn.
So basically ..."waaaah this is dumb because people won't vote how I want them to."Meh, why bother? Top 20 is sure to be a combination of the usual suspects(not the movie) and Nolan(ugh), with little to no animation or movies in a different language than English. Yawn.
