I like a few too. Singin' in the Rain, Cabaret, All That Jazz & Dancer in the Dark
I had completely forgotten about that film. Not the usual uplifting feeling you get from a musical...

I'd also mention Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.

I really like The Tenant. Might make room for it.
Heeeeeeh.

I remember watching The Tenant straight after Repulsion and feeling slightly underwhelmed with it.

But it could also use a rewatch.
The Tenant is the one where Polanski throws himself out of his window, twice, right?

Now that I think about it, I think it's the one where the french polish guy moves into a new apartment and his couchsurfers turns out to be different personalities of himself so he ends up throwing himself out the window. Pretty chilling iirc.

I'm very nearly ready to post my top 100. Every new top 100 is giving me loads more films I need to see, it's a lot of fun really! I think with my top 100, I'm going to post a review of my first choice as well. Full on film hipsterism. I think the deadline is the 23rd, but hope to have it done before then.

Some observations: I enjoy historical epics too much. I'm surprised more animation didn't feature but ultimately they had to be absolutely exceptional to get in atleast in my opinion.

***Wizard People, Dear Reader was never properly commercially released, I'm not sure if it really counts but I do think it's a genuine stand-alone piece of art and comedy film. It's one of the funniest films I've ever seen.

Extended.

I haven't even begun to revise my list again.
Cheers, only have a couple of additions since I haven't watched too much recently but suppose that can be enough to change things sometimes.

I've watched loads of films since then inception of the thread but I think only Spring in a Small Town is a sure shot for the list, and possibly Satantango.

Good stuff

You enjoy historical epics but no Barry Lyndon on the list??
It's one I didn't get round to watching before today, I know it's meant to be absolutely cracking though.

That's not a bad list, still think you ought to watch The Thin Red Line. Also... In The Mood for Love, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, Raise the Red Lantern...
