Why not?

De Gea
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
----------Blind--------
--
Herrera-------Di Maria
Januzaj---RVP---Rooney
That line up is good but Rooney out wide does not provide pace. Lvg wanted a 3-5-2 system partly because we dont have a specialist winger. Now we have it Di Maria, I dont thing we will play Di Maria in CM in a 4-3-3. It is counter-intuitive in my opinion. Might as well stay in a 3-5-2.

It actually works well because Di Maria can come around wide while Rooney plays narrow. Rafael and Shaw will add width nicely as well. Rooney would be fine since he wouldn't be on the touch line.

Why don't we just swap Di Maria with Rooney? Won't happen anyway. Lvg considers Rooney as no.9.

It's a bit unnerving not knowing who these players could be as well with less 48hours to deadline. Obviously Vidal but that looks dead to me.
I'd be surprised if we didn't bring someone in on deadline day. Not Vidal, but someone.

 that whole paragraph from @revel911 could be interpreted differently by someone with a vivid imagination!

Blind looks like the kind of guy to dictate from the back, lots of simple ball touches, fletchers tackle is abit rough, so a good up grade. Thats not even mentioning Mata's fondness for caressing his balls into the box.

He talks some shite that boy, however, the players seem to like him so I suppose that's all that matters.

Was at United as a kid. Here's hoping he's right. Can never have too many competent coaches.
The Rene rumours started about 6 hrs ago on Twitter. I would be more excited by the return of Rene than the signing of Blind to be honest.

Sky are reporting Rene's return aswell.

Strange one that, wouldn't that be a bit of change of heart for LvG, because it was clear to see in earlier interviews that Rene was keen on coming back, but LvG didn't want him then.

Maybe he is struggling for answers to our problems atm.

Really really strange one, must be something to do with giggs this. I'd rather leave the legacy of that style of football behind us if possible. Trust yourself Louis.

I don't trust any of the 92 lot to move us in the right direction football wise. It's a broken record of wings and pace.

Imo I think our coaching setup is looking quite thin, he'd be a great addition. Hopefully he helps bring some fresh ideas, like not playing hoof ball and playing with wingers!

I think a clean break from the Ferguson years is what United need. Rene was around with Ferguson but what I'm real getting at is they need coaches around who know more than how Ferguson worked despite his great success.

To be fair...wingers with skill and pace can unlock defences...problem is we had none...valencia, nani and young were pretty average and didnt offer anything. If we had di maria on the left and cuadrado or reus on the right, we would be quite effective down the wings.

Would be a great addition because our current staff lack Prem League knowledge of the level of Rene. Delighted to hear this.

But LvG is one of the best mangers/coaches in the world, playing some beautiful football, so surely he already knows this! Maybe just feels having Rene back is a good idea because he so well liked, and knows the club well.

Maybe having a coach like Rene around who most of the players know will instil some much needed confidence back into them. If anything I commend Van Gaal if true as this is something that Moyes should have insisted on.

Aye, if he's open to this after initially dismissing it, maybe he's open to switching to 4-3-3 after the international break, one can hope anyway.

Agreed! This is a step in the right direction if it's true. Let's face it he's not only got a great knowledge of the PL but knows the players really well and their strengths.
