Spot on Brophs. He should take a reality check. God forbid he didn't play for the Crazy gang in the 1980s, he'd have the piss taken out of him something rotten. Perhaps he should grow a pair and take it with a pinch of salt.
 "needs to grow a pair"
"needs a reality check"

You don't become one of the best of your generation and among the greats of the game without being mentally every strong and thick skinned. Whatever his attitude is, it's worked for him big time. Doubt he "needs" to take your advice in that sense.

Its PL, there is no point arguing about him regarding ronaldo.

Nice boys don't make corrective tax payments only when faced with prosecution for tax evasion.

Of course, considering it's Sepp Blatter who said it maybe I'm off the mark.

Reading the quotes I didn't think it was that bad.

Watching the video, what in the feck was Blatter thinking? That's unacceptable.

What have I missed about that video? He just looks like an absolute idiot there to me. Has Ronaldo actually taken offence to that?

Indeed, he came out with another blunder by saying that "I want to make clear that for me Cristiano Ronaldo is at the same level as Messi and that the two are exceptional players, each in their own way." Yes, each of the two players have their own particular attributes, but to say one is as good as the other is ridiculous, since the number of Ballon D'Ors that Messi has won clearly demonstrates. For Blatter to come out with a statement is like saying that "for me, England is at the same level as Brazil and they are both exceptional teams.", when in reality, we have only won one world cup and whereas Brazil have won 5. It is like night and day, chalk and cheese etc etc.

 Drawing a comparison with England and Brazil. That's even worse than Blatter.

Blatter is nuts but I find him funny.

Ronaldo is the most self-obsessed footballer of all time. He is more concerned about Balon D'or's and the Messi rivalry than his own team

Let us face it, he has run out of mirrors so he needs a Ballon D'Or just to see if his hair has moved because of a gust of wind. In fact, it is a shame I cannot do photoshop, otherwise I would have photoshopped Ronaldo's head onto the body of a budgie such as his obsession with looking good...

In any case, I still find it funny. I mean, he didn't even laugh at Messi when he decided to put on a ridiculous suit with spots.

I once saw Blatter "dressed" (yes because for him it felt like putting on a costumed) as a footballer for a charity match and I would love to erase from my memory that horrible image of his little legs and fat belly. Blatter is really clueless when it comes to football, corrupt as feck.

So self obsessed he wrote a letter to the police in America to not deport the student that ran onto the pitch during the pre-season friendly.

Would he have written the letter if the student ran into the pitch when Messi was playing?

The stupidity that ensued after (and was started by) Blatter's comments is hilarious. Blatter was trying to be funny, and he might have disrespected Ronaldo's hair, but reality check, Ronaldo, that's not the reason why Messi won the last 4 Ballon d'Ors.

Also, Ronaldo's reaction does prove some of Blatter's points, and he came across as an even bigger child than Blatter himself.

How is that even a question, the fan was a Madrid fan and went to him and even if Messi was there he would have still gone to Ronaldo so yes.

I don't see why you would post that. Blatter's comments were disrespectful. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Messi is not the saint the media portrays him as.

Blatter was in the wrong again, but my issue is why fans are giving this more attention than his other absurd comments.

What the feck Danny, you and PL are so ridiculously biased it's becoming a running joke.

Do you find it normal that Blatter refers to Ronaldo as "the other one" when asked about both of them? Jesus Christ, would it hurt you being objective for once?

Vato, first of all, you're not the perfect example of neutrality, so stop giving others lessons, and stop debating "names" or trying to pick some posters with which you disagree with, instead of the issues we're debating. (Although I know why you and a few others do that).

Second, both of you, can you tell me how Blatter was so disrespectful to Ronaldo, "Real Madrid" and "Portugal"?! Quotes please from the clip above.

I wasn't biased in my opinion, Blatter was trying to be funny. IMO he wasn't successful, but it's a bad joke and that's all. Probably, should have avoided to say that he prefers Messi in the end, because he's the president of FIFA, although that doesn't mean that he shouldn't have an opinion..

The fuss the drama queens are making here is just like the fuss the United haters made when an English ref said that Fergie was his friend a few months ago.. (Even though I admit it's bit worse in the ref's case, because he's directly affecting the match results). It's basically a nothing story, fuelled by some's bitterness because Ronaldo missed out on the last 4 Ballon d'Ors, and expect to miss it this year again..

And if we're talking "disrespectful", IMO, bringing up Ibrahimovic's name with Messi and Ronaldo was far more disrespectful for Messi and Ronaldo than the other stuff. Also what's more disrespectful IMO is Ronaldo not showing up in the awards when he knew he wasn't going to win.

Besides, don't act like nobody is trashing Messi in the media, Vato!

Personally speaking Blatter came out about Rios miss drugs test all those years ago and offered his biased opinion on Ronaldo when Real tapped him up, so Sepp can go feck himself. He has a bias, it's hard to feel for Madrid but Sepp should have retired a long long time ago. That goes without saying.

And nobody - not Messi, his teammates, his club, his national manager, his agents, his sponsors, his dad, his fans - ever respond to any criticism of him? Oh they do, that's right, usually in perfectly choreographed choruses. Because human beings react to insults, and lies, and even the truth being told without all the mitigating circumstances being included - even when it's all supposed to be a joke.

Of course, next time Blatter takes the piss out of Messi at a public meeting, I won't consider it inappropriate conduct for the head of FIFA, and I'll certainly be shocked if Messi is upset or annoyed about it. Then again maybe it will just be Messi's dad who gets offended, after all Messi knows nothing outside the football field. And I'm sure none of his or Barca's fans will be bothered by it at all.

Ronaldo's human. I'd prefer it if he was arrogant enough that this kind of crap is just water off a ducks back. But it isn't, he was bothered by it, he admitted it. Big deal.

Let's break it down.. Blatter talked about how Ronaldo looks like a commander on the field, his hair, and about how he prefers Messi to him, while maintaining that both are on the same level on the football pitch..

Which part do you think was the most disrespectful part?

Which bit did you think wasn't him taking the piss?
Does Ronaldo feel disrespected that people think he looks like a commander on the field (which was also said in jest)?!

Do you think it's disrespectful to prefer a player to another?

Do you think mentioning Ronaldo's hair (as a joke) is disrespectful?! How many times have the United fans talked and made jokes about Beckham's hair?! Almost everybody did. Are we disrespecting him?! I think we need to grow up..

Please tell me which you found the most disrespectful part, or just pick one so we can see how "disrespectful it was for Ronaldo, Real Madrid, and Portugal", before we assess the reaction...

If Blatter wants to be a comedian, I'm sure the football world will happily accept his resignation. As long as he's the most important person in football, comments like that are massively disrespectful, he's simply not allowed to joke about any footballer because of his position. It's really not that hard to understand. I don't like Ronaldo or his reaction, but I fully understand that he's pissed.
