Yeah, I was surprised at that comment as well in fairness.

Really? Mou could turn up in a shrek mask riding an ACTUAL talking donkey and say only joking Id never sign that scouse feck and Id not be surprised.....
he is the most unpredictable manager alive.

There's a helluva lot of 'United in chaos' wishful-thinking going on with rival fans. Laughable.

Yeah, they do seem to be clutching at straws.

I'v got people telling me Moyes is a clown for rejecting Mata in favour of Rooney, forgetting that if the reports were actually true, Mourinho is doing exactly the same thing!

I have argued this point numerous times to no avail.

Torres on £8m per year over 5 years + £50m transfer fee = £90m

Rooney on £12.5m per year over 5 years + £27.5m transfer fee = £90m.

That's the reason we won't get £50m for Rooney. If Chelsea value Rooney as they valued Torres a couple of years ago, they'll offer £27.5m.

On the flip side:

Milan bought Ibrahimovic for £20m, far less than his "value" because of his wages
PSG bought Ibrahimovic for around £17m, far less than his "value" because of his wages
Anzhi signed Eto'o for £18m, far less than his "value" because of his wages.

There is a reason why Rooney will probably leave for a similar fee to Benteke. One costs £10m more per season more in wages.

But isn't the wage problem a buyer's problem? I mean, we don't have to take sell a cut price Rooney to Chelsea because he will cost a ton in wages for them. They should buy him for the price we ask, and worry about his salaries. We shouldn't care about how much he'll cost in total for him.

All I can think is that it was to let Rooney know how much he wants him, but from a negotiating transfers point of view it was strange.

Ask therisingsun and he'l say that naive comment was because of Moyes's mind games.

He's testing out someone he can consider to be a novice on an extremely difficult issue which he was landed with in his in-tray as soon as he got his feet under his desk.

Don't forget that the "novice" is not ill advised, he has an old veteran named Ferguson standing with him. Not saying that SAF is telling him what to do, but he is surely on par with everything.

Also a Chelsea fan having a go at United's structure is hilarious, considering the lunatics have long taken over the asylum at their own club.

From where I'm standing, United suddenly don't look like the well-oiled machine that they looked like under Ferguson and Gill. From the naive comments that Moyes has an "unlimited budget" whilst going into transfer negotiations to the briefing of private and probably fabricated negotiations in Sydney, it seems like different United from the one we've got used to and the way they conduct their affairs.

As in all transactions the buyer's problem may become the seller's problem if the former threatens to throw the whole deal. It all depends on how badly the seller wants to sell. If you don't really care either way, it's obviously of no concern to you what problems the buyer might have.

That's what I'm saying. United is not with a dying intent of selling. Chelsea is wanting hard to buy. So, we shouldn't worry about their finances. And of course in saying we, I mean the club, not me personally. It thought that was clear...

Aye, we are in agreement, then. We are not desperate to sell - or shouldn't be, at least. And given that, you are right: If we want a hundred mill and Maureen's left arm, then that's what they'll pay, regardless of Rooney's salary, which is no concern of ours.

Not in chaos, but not the well oiled machine that we have become accustomed to. A lot of the transfer dealings for example have been very public.

Maybe a spot the twat line up along side Ince Heinze and Tevez?

Ah good old Twatamonials.

Yes, but he is more handsome, has better hair, changed his nationality and his name to Juan Mata.

I don't think he'll even be at the club, 100% convinced he'll go to Chelsea.

If that is the case it will be a very bold move on the part of the club, especially in Moyes first season.

No, even if he's still at the club I don't want him playing.

That would be some statement to make, I admit I'd be oddly intrigued by United standing their ground in such a definitive way, but financially I imagine it would be blocked by the board.

And the rejected Baines bid I guess. But our transfer dealings were always in the news, whether the info was reliable or not. It just seems a bit more active this year, and the timing is a tad different (we usually do business early but this year it'll probably drag on), but that's natural given the change of structure.

Anyone trying to convince themselves that the club is not as well oiled or run as it used to on the basis of reported transfer dealings after 3 weeks of the new team in charge is a moron though.

Which ones? Someone leaked that we'd bid for Fabregas...that's about it isn't it?

Thiago, Baines, Fabregas and now this Rooney thing and the briefings about Luiz and Mata.

In recent years, Ferguson would unveil them without much fanfare. Young, Hernandez etc etc...

Higuain says "Jose wants him at Chelsea"

So much for Rooney being his one and only choice.

Was always a lie though wasn't in? He doesn't want Rooney because he is Rooney, in the way you wanted RVP last year. He wants him because we need a striker. He won't want to start the season without a clear first choice, top quality player.

Even Rooney wouldnt be so dumb to think he's the only one Mourinho is after. He said it to further stroke Rooney's ego and make him feel wanted. He'd be the first choice but if Chelsea dont get him, they'l take someone else. No way will Mourinho go into a season with Ba and Torres as his only 2 strikers.

Lukaku as well. Arguably the best of the three. But I agree Jose wants another one.

We didn't air any of that, it was just press speculation.

We're linked with all kinds of transfer targets, every single year, in the press. And it's a bit different going for players who aren't considered world class or players that no-one has ever heard of, to being linked with mega-money moves for world class proven superstars like Fabregas, Ronaldo, Bale etc.

The Rooney situation is a situation all in itself which is definitely not normal but what can we do. It's gonna be plastered all over every paper every day. Rooney takes a shit at a different time and it's on the back pages.

Oh dear...Being passed around on Twitter:

Yeah but if Jose did it to make Rooney feel special and wanted, I guess that won't work that well because well he'll know he's lying now. I honestly don't see us selling to Chelsea with them being our title rivals and with Jose talking crap and doing his blatant public tapping up constantly.

Yeah, forgot about him. Too young and inexperienced to be relied upon as the main striker though for a club that targets all trophies.

I dont see it either. But yeah, if Chelsea and arsenal are the only clubs in for him and we cant find buyers outside england(which i find hard to believe considering hwe'd sell at a cut price to an external bidder), we'll have a decision on our hands.

Happened every time whenever Fergie was here too. The laughable thing is that ever since Fergie has retired, he has somehow turned into a demi god and somehow our success was based ONLY due to him.

The most smug out of the lot has been Chelsea fans, unsurprisingly. This TRS guy is hilarious.

Clearly they know a lot about changing managers.
