Zlatan Ibrahimovic

He would suit our patient possession football much better than Arsenals counter attacking style that's for sure. Regardless of what LvG might want in a striker (hardworking etc). Zlatan would come deep, build play and thrive with the players we have. Herrera/Mata/Zlatan combos, damn!

He most certainly should be, big upgrade on Giroud
True. A Sanchez, Ibra, Ozil front-line would be interesting to watch to say the least. With Ibra dropping into the hole he'd create all sorts of space for the other two to exploit.

Arsenal keep the ball as well as anyone in the league and only resorted to playing on the counter at time last season due to wengers tinkering with the tactics.

I just dont see the so called baggage being a problem. Infact, since the manager and him have had problems before; all problems will surely be sorted out at the contract stages.

This is why i thought ibrahimovic would be the 'suprise signing' even though i thought the media was exaggerating van gaals word.

He has an option, go to milan and try to rekindle a great club he has played for before or he can come to england where he has not played yet; and give it ago at the top for a season or 2 more.

People who worry about ibrahimovic's age; must realise that he does not rely as much on speed as he does on ball control.

I reckon he'd have been ours if Ferguson was still the manager. Fergie loved a punt on a player he admired, whatever the age if the price was right.
yeah, Fergie would have loved a transfer like him.

The whole fiasco with Valdes might make LVG reconsider burrying the hatchet with known volatile players.

Quite obvious SI have asked that question for web hits.

Zlatan's answered that question as part of a match preview for the game coming up. Don't read too much into it.

5-10 years ago this transfer would have made my heart swoon. a replacement for RVN... but nowadays i'm not sure it'd be worth the hassle considering his age.

he'd be interesting but i'd prefer to see a pacy striker brought in.....

Zlatan has some record when it comes to winning leagues though....12 league titles in 14 years

lucky (and very talented) charm

Zlatan is a fantastic player but his ego is just to big to work under a manager like Van Gaal. He needs to be the centre of attention in the team both on and off the pitch and with Van Gaals requirements about everyone accepting their role as just one in the team and playing exactly as instructed I can't see this happening.

People think he's still 25. The guy's matured a lot, yes he still pulls some stunts but whoever thinks he will come and absolutely destroy the dressing room spends too much time on the Lad Bible.

The problem is that he's 34.

Not going to happen because of the history with van Gaal, but let's not kid ourselves, Zlatan is world class. I'd have him here in a second, despite the fact that he's 33. He's one of those strikers who I think could play until he's 36. He's also the definitive target man which we could use considering hte Premier League's physicality and van Gaal's penchant for playing Fellaini.

The problem is that he's 34.

He's not reliant on his pace. I can easily see him play at a very high level until he's 35-36. He's strong and has a brilliant touch. My only problem with it is Rooney in midfield again, otherwise he'd be a brilliant signing.

I'd be all for it. If we are to sign Pedro, Zlatan creating for two wide goal scorers ( Pedro & Memphis) on paper sounds great. Year or two out of him and Rooney then replace both completely.

If we can somehow get him without paying a big fee, then it's a no brainier. He's not had s big injury like falcao either.

Seeing as we play just 1 striker, no point in it. It'd move rooney to #10 which I wouldn't want.

If we were reigning champs, I would say Ibra is not good enough for us (due to his age).
However, we are the 4th best team in the league - a fact which some forget.
I'd also like to remind people that we scored 3 goals in our last 6 games last season. That's our most recent form.
Our strike force is dire and Ibra would definitely be an upgrade on what we have.
And lets not forget his ability to score spectacular goals from virtually any part of the pitch. The entertainment value will be big.

But is this likely to happen...no way.

Do not want. It'll be like RvP where we'll be stuck trying to fit in 2 big name strikers into every single lineup irrespective of how little sense it makes.

''I think a lot of fights would happen... but that's something I like''

I don't get how you wouldn't want to see this guy here. It isn't like RvP where he is over the hill when he is 30... He is a truly fantastic individual and probably would be the best outfield player on our team if he came here (benching Rooney in the process). Would love to have someone with his ego here as well

He comes in, we win the title. Simple as that. The guy is top class, would love him here for a couple of seasons. Can produce something out of nothing, and would score bucketloads with service from Mata, Herrera and Memphis.

I'm sure van Gaal can't wait to sign a 34 year old striker who doesn't respect his methods, wants so start when he's fit and enjoys the conflict in their personalities. Matter of time before we sign him I'd say...
