Zlatan Ibrahimovic

With a massive ego, a bruised one probably stings worse and I wouldn't discount how much it smarts after probably being made to feel not adequate enough to play with superlative talents like he had, albeit briefly

I knew what he was like before he arrived but I also thought maybe being humbled by the talent around him would get him to dial his attitude down and finally play for the team. At times it looked bloody brilliant but once Leo went into the center, the experiment was over. There was an away match in La Liga where he just clicked and he looked like a tiki taka player of gargantuan proportions - I really thought it would blossom from there

What do you think FCB - pushed out of Barca?

Have heard the club plays to suit Messi, understandably so, and yet in doing so pushed Zlatan out of his accustomed role. Where as he was probably greatly suited for their style, no?

do you reckon pep did the wrong thing by moving messi to the center as opposed to sticking with ibra?

Started reading it. There is definitely something lost in translation.

He says mental a lot.

Considering what they won and how many goals Messi has scored, not really. I just think they perhaps should've mixed it up more rather than just continue to funnel through Leo - especially against what would become the norm, the bus brigade.

Ibra never had enough pace to make the runs Samu or Villa could in their prime and even late into their careers. He could understand the movements, passing and tiki taka as well as a cantera player...but he couldn't move his big frame onto those passes/movement against those 2 lines of 4. Still, as a target man, he was exactly what the team needed - centrally.

Still like to see them give it another go with a true center forward and move Messi around more rather than let defenses trap him far from the box. Maybe Tata will go that way

Knocking heads with Pep is a sure fire way to get yourself shown the door, which was what him & his agent likely wanted anyway. Plus, the club was desperate to get rid of his pizza boy agent just as badly as Ibra, in the end.

I can honestly say, I knew little of Ibrahimovic's skill level ahead of his arrival...only knew him for his great one liners and ego. I thought he was hilarious and knew he scored some highlight reel goals. What I found was an unreal level of skill for a man of his size yet someone who inexplicably didn't know how to head the ball into goal. There's a great clip out there of him & Leo juggling together at the center of the pitch ahead of the whistle to start the match. You could see Zlatan liked playing with Messi, was genuinely humbled, IMHO. Another reason why I think he probably feels a bit hurt at what could've been

Same question for him then. He also accepted the transfer and it was clear he needed to fall in line.

The car thing is so silly. He can drive his own car everywhere except to Barcelona's training ground. What a tiny thing to ask

Zlatan is extremely arrogant and you won't see arguing that. I also think that Barca are pathetic in some aspect.

Even at half pace in Dublin last night, he was pretty majestic. Two desperately ordinary sides admittedly, but he was playing a different game. He's a beast of a man up close, too. Provided pretty much every touch of quality in game.

I’d already got the impression that Barcelona was a little like being back at Ajax, it was like being back at school. None of the lads acted like superstars, which was strange. Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, the whole gang — they were like schoolboys. The best footballers in the world stood there with their heads bowed, and I didn’t understand any of it. It was ridiculous.

Wait. Isn't that a good thing?

He's one of the players I've been most impressed with seeing in the flesh. Although seeing him live shows how much of a lazy bugger he is, the way he holds off defenders is unparalleled.

Yeah, he was up against Richard Dunne but handled him easily enough with his back to goal. He really looks like he could have been anything he wanted to be if he was arsed.

Oh, but he didn't deliver single handedly against mighty Ireland! 44 goals for the national team. No one in Sweden is complaining.. you'd think..

He's gone from being so under-rated to so over-rated in a matter of years.

That is how the nationals work. Imagine Cleverley going on to carry the WC to England by playing 8 games really well. In reality his skill-level would not be different from 2 weeks earlier, but he would suddenly be rated one of the best players in the world.

He's never been underrated on here. The hate has been consistent, just have a look at this thread.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic urges Manchester United star Wayne Rooney to join him at PSG

"When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me,"
"I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge - and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.
"If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up."
Ibrahimovic believes he could form a lethal strike partnership with Rooney if he did make the move to the French capital.
"If he did join he would have to get used to the fact that Zlatan scores even better goals than him," added Ibrahimovic. "But I don't just want to play with great players, I want to play with technically great players - and that is what he is.
"You can work on the technical side but it is not something you can be taught. You have it or you don't and Rooney does."

Zlatan being a dickhead again. I know you will be shocked.

Isn't he 31 or 32 now? the only direction he's going is down at this point. Great player, but a twat of a man.

Wonder what their shiny new toy Cavani thinks of this? Surely buying him negated any purchase of a Rooney type in the future.

Zlatan sure does love rating himself. Big game bottler.

And who the feck refers to themselves in the 3rd person? Except Brophs of course. I can't think of anyone else! ;)

At least scholesy was right all along:

If Rooney is to ever be sold then PSG would be the perfect club, they always pay silly money.

Even if we don't get silly money, it would still mean that he won't be playing for Chelsea or Arsenal. They'll be perfect, but why would he go there when he can't handle competition from one other world class striker here at United, and will have to compete with two others at PSG in a new country.

He would only play on the wings, Blanc is a huge favorite of 4-3-3 and plays Cavani on the right side of his attacking trio. However if Monaco gets interested , they will surely nail a CL spot at least in the league.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's like a not-so-subtle slap to Cavani's face.

He's a bit of a cnut and all, but he's also hilariously funny for a footballer. That "Zlatan scores better goals than him"-bit is a typical Zlatan joke. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

The man is just one big joke. I actually love him, he is such a character and never fails to disappoint in his interviews!

Also it's funny how his teammates just take him kicking him, you can't do anything to react to it
