I've always liked Lyon even if Aulas can be an unbearable prick at times. One of the best chairman there is in football though, the way he protects his manager and player from criticism is examplary

It is costing PSG over 80m euros a year to pay his wages/tax and social securities.

Staggering

This 75% tax didn't go through, did it? Which means he still costs them around €15m a year.

Philippe Auclair said he was costing PSG more than 80m euros a year.
(wages, employers tax and social securities)

They'll reevaluate the tax thingy in the autumn.

The 75% tax thing will never go through, it was a feck-up during the election campaign by Hollande to draw some votes from the more extreme left wingers that were going to a guy named Mélenchon who was running a good campaign. It was never in his campaign manifest and just popped up one day randomly. They're wheeling it out now and again just to keep up appearances, but it's a farce.

As for Zlatan, that doesn't surprise me, PSG had to give him millions to get him over here. It's been a sound move though, he's doing brilliantly, the league is a walk in the park for him (and PSG do seem to struggle when he doesn't play).

No way Pizza boy was going to have his client go to Paris without being heavily paid. Moreover, PSG is hardly having a walk in the park in Ligue 1 - their lead is the slimmest in Europe

Philippe Auclair is probably wrong here, no way Zlatan earns €45m net a year.

My God - I hope this is a legit quote:

Following David Beckham's announcement upon signing a five-month contract with PSG that he will donate his entire salary to a Parisian children's charity, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced that he will donate all of his wages to himself.
"I heard Beckham's decision and it made me think," Ibrahimovic told reporters while on duty with the Swedish national team. "Who is most deserving of all of the money that I, Zlatan, am paid? The answer is Zlatan. The children of Paris are not leading Ligue 1 in goals this season. I am. I have 20 goals. The next best players have 12. Twelve! If anything, the children of Paris should be giving me even more money for having the privilege of being in the same city as my incredible quality. And so should David Beckham. Call it a Zlaritable donation."

"When I signed with PSG the politicians called my wages 'indecent' in a time when so many people are struggling, even though it is a lot of money that can be taxed and help the country," Ibrahimovic continued, while demonstrating Taekwondo moves. "Now Beckham gives all of his wages to a local charity and people call him a tax dodger. Both are examples of stupid people complaining about good things. It is a waste of breath. Like Pep Guardiola blowing up his own birthday balloons, which I then pop with an overhead kick the second he is finished. These people should be subject to a 75 percent stupidity tax payable to the Bank of Zlatan. Then they will have something to really complain about."

I can't tell if it's legit or not  Knowing him, it very well might be!

It's not legit, but it is funny. DirtyTackle is general quite humerous, and Brooks Peck was the man responsible for Dimitar Berbatov - The Continental... thus he's okay in my book.

It is good news for the neutral but certainly not great news for us - particularly with injury concerns on our end to still contend with. Just surprised UEFA reduced the ban, I don't recall them doing that very often. Then again, there's big money & intrigue in this tie

I like Zlatan and just makes the matches all the more competitive

:nono: Don't be a bitch

Love to see the stats on reduced bans for red cards from UEFA in the CL, Zlatan's is the first I can recall in a long time

The red card was a joke to begin with.I wonder if the same would have been done to Nani if United got through had United appealed

Yup, was even worse of a decision then Nani's red card I think. Good decision from Uefa, gives PSG the slightest of chances as well.

Still say he's one of the really enjoyable characters in the game

Trying to lure Rooney :nono:

Ibrahimovic urges Rooney to join PSG

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed Wayne Rooney to join Paris Saint-Germain next season, insisting "there is only one club" for the striker to move to if he leaves Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester United insist Rooney will not be sold in the summer
Rooney's future at Old Trafford is unclear, although manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists the 27-year-old will not be sold.

PSG are likely to lead the race for Rooney's signature if he terminates his contract with United and the French club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi through his weight behind a bid for the England international earlier this week.

"He is a great player, one of the best strikers in the world," he told Sky Sports News. "I think everybody would like it to happen."

Ibrahimovic, who scored in his side's 2-2 Champions League draw with Barcelona on Tuesday, has supported Carlo Ancelotti's interest in Rooney, claiming the Parisien club has plenty to offer the striker.

"If he wants to be part of the best project in football then there is only one club to sign for," Ibrahimovic told the Sun. "Only he knows the decision he is going to make in the summer but the project we are trying to build here is clear.

"We are not content with being the dominant force in France, we want to be the top club in Europe as well. I can understand why the owners are interested in Rooney - he is in the top 10 of strikers in Europe."

Hey some of our fans would have loved to see a Zlatan-Rooney partnership, so maybe they'll get their wish next season, albeit in the blue of PSG.

They'd tear Ligue 1 a new one

Someone got paid to write that :(

Zlatan was so mentally poor in that Barca game, goal apart was piss poor.

Goal and an assist, held the ball up well and made light work of Pique whenever he had the opportunity. Missed a good chance and lost possession a couple of times in promising areas. Decent night's work all in all.

Goal & assist apart

Yeah he had an effect by the end but the goal was offside and the assist was a good piece of play. His overall performance wasn't very good though, but of course that will be totally forgotten.

Yes it'll be totally forgotten because he contributed to the scoreline massively. I would have bumped this thread if his contribution to the game was zilch.

What's this obsession with intangible metrics anyway?

You only think his passing/linkup was poor because you've an agenda against him and used misleading stats to support that agenda. His passing % was poor because they fired it up to him from all angles constantly and expected him to make something of it. Sometimes he'd bring it down beautifully, drive towards the edge of the box and then get taken out cynically by Busquets, sometimes he'd flick it on instinctively hoping Lucas and Lavezzi were buzzing around in the right areas. The key thing was he created plenty of chances for them with his imposing physique and ball control just as he did v Arsenal when he was playing for Barca. He was offside too much though.

 His passing percentages were poor because he had a poor touch on the day. And passing the ball inaccurately because you're "hopeful" is something all footballers do. Only Ibrahimovic gains praise for it from you.

He was poor, but also lucky. A goal and a pass for a teammate to embarrass Valdes are enough for fanboys to hide him under. He was wasteful, he was clumsy, he was inaccurate with his touches, passes and finishing but he was Zlatan. So I guess none of that matters.
