Zlatan Ibrahimovic

What are you talking about? He's shit, he isn't worldclass because he's cocky

Does any one have the compilation of Zlatan Ibrahimovic against us last season in the CL?

The pass he delivered to Stankovic was class. He released the ball with pace from a standin position on the right wing, it wasnt a high cross but it tricked our entire backline before it suddenly dipped and fell on Stankovic's chest only for the player to fluff as Stankovic himself could not predict the height.

Never seen any one barring Zidane, Rivaldo, Veron and Scholes would manage to pull anything of that kind....

The guy is an absolute class act - I can't believe some still aren't convinced! It just seems to be fashionable to slag him off, but it's getting a bit hard to do that now.

Hear here!

People slagging him off are either:

A) stupid enough not to admit their wrongs

B) sticking to it out of tradition

C) subjectively judging Zlatan as a person rather than a player

Does anybody know the record of most goals scored in your first season for la liga side?

Why not? He's off to a pretty good start, don't see any reason for him to suffer a goal drought either. Seeing as that record for Juventus was 16 he overtook it during his first season.

In Spain in recent times I think Ronaldo(Brazil) had 34 goals in 37 appearances I think for Barcelona in his first and only season for them

for a club like Juventus, 16 goals scored (previous record) in your first season by a player is pretty poor.

The best ever single season by a striker ever.In that season we witnessed the best player of football. If it wasn't for his injuries he'd be above Maradona and Pele

Without question, but even at Madrid sometimes he'll just refuse to put a shift in and basically be lazy as feck. He scored spectacular goals and had a fabulous record but he, with all his talent, could have pushed himself much further for the whites. He lost his way somewhat

Many of you lot draw your assumptions on highlights and youtube only compounds that. Ronaldo got his goals at Barca but his overall influence in the game was restrictive, if all these goals were summed up in one shot, it would appear the player was from another planet clearly not the case. Apart from a minute or two when he came to life in a match and scored some breath taking goals, his all round game wasnt there, more over Spanish league was shite - its the media, Barcelona and his sponsors that puffed him up with famous one liner "The Greatest" although he was some player. In those days if some article comes out in World Soccer Monthly that feed their journalists from the meat thrown by big clubs, and outcome of world cups it was treated as the gospel, these days it can be either ridiculed or accepted, there is always a fair forum to debate.

Ronaldo's best season was in 97-98 at Inter Milan not when he was at Barca. He played a free role behind the striker probably the best league in the world then, was breathtaking and deservedly warranted comparisons with Maradona.

Also its hard to compare players from different eras. Ronaldo had he stayed away from injuries he might've been regarded the greatest of all time but had Pele and Maradona got the protection that Ronaldo enjoyed - for starters tackling from behind being a straight red, where they would've ended up? or if Ronaldo was subjected to the punishment that Maradona went through in the 80's how long his career would've lasted in top flight football.

Also if you look at Maradona's time at Barca compared to Ronaldo its not hard to figure out the crude fouls he suffered on the pitch, whenever he touched the ball and moved up from the midfield he was kicked and floored immediately that would warrant a straight red in today's standards, obstructive plays going unnoticed even without a a whisltle. As for Ronaldo at Barca being a striker, he was operating closer to the 20 yard box , it was tough for defenders to foul and get away coupled with the protection attackers got from early 90's with FIFA's changed rules , defenders allowed him to run with the ball, he did the damage.

At Inter once he started playing as a Trequartista, he was dropping deep collecting the and moving he ball up, making him a safer target for fouling and one season of kicking was sufficient to crock him down permanatly, its not hard to predict whether he would've lasted one full season in Spain had he made his debut in 80's compared to Pele and Maradona making their debut in mid 90's.

I'm amazed how you have the balls to judge my admiration for Ronaldo only through youtube clips. You act as if you own the entire knowledge of football

Last night

Imagine when he gets his first goal in the knock out stage, it's going to confirm what most people thought about how good he is, and it really shouldn't, all you have to do is watch him work his magic.

You always resort to insults because you're clueless.
No one was saying Ronaldo's season at Barca was his best but you felt the need to tell it how it is.

It's a good post with some interesting points - you might try tackling some of them instead of just being snotty.
