Except we have no chance in hell of getting Griezmann or Dybala or any other player who would actually do that because we're not going to have Champions League football next season. We're never going to get that player if we don't recover some ground, a guaranteed 25 goals next season would do us the world of good on that front.

Absolute rubbish.

We have every chance to get them if we put up the money. It depends on who else moves for them also.

One season out of the CL means nothing if we can persuade them that we are getting several other top players to join also.

Money trumps everything else.

No thanx, we're not a retirement home. Last thing we need is another overpaid past his prime striker.

If it's just for a year then why not? We're short on options anyway and he'd obviously be a good fit for a Mourinho team. Plus the arrival of Mourinho and Ibra would at least give us an instant morale lift. Don't see much downside.

If we get Mourinho, getting Ibra would be a very obvious move. He is 34 now, but he still plays brilliantly. In fact, there isn't much difference on how he plays now compared to how he played 5 years ago. He is still as powerful and clinical as before, while he was never a fast player.

Make it happen!

These players earn enough at their current Clubs. If they go it's because they can move up a level, and currently United is a step below Atletico or Juventus.

Wonder if he'll take a year contract. Anything more would be too risky considering his age and salary.

Beckham's Miami franchise is expected to start playing in 2018 with Ibra strongly linked to them. Apparently he's even bought a place in Miami already.

Which would mean he needs another club for one season and one season only.

If you sign Ibrahimovic and get a decent manager, I would bet on you winning the league without having to make any other changes to the squad.

Even this team would become lethal. Park the bus, hit it long to Zlatan, fill the box with players. Nocerino had the season of his life when Milan played played that way. The same would happen with Valencia and Phil Jones.

De Gea
Darmian - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
Valencia - Jones - Schneiderlin - Fellaini - Blind
Ibrahimovic

The best thing about getting Ibra is that he is a winner and will give some teamates a kick up the arse if they are not at the required level.

Ibrahimovic is seeking a one year deal before he leaves for Beckham's MLS franchise in 2017-18 season. I'm completely confused that people are against the idea of signing Ibrahimovic. We're in severe need of a prolific world class striker, Ibrahimovic gives us that, and he would be on a FREE transfer. His wages would be a lot but it's a one year contract, and why are we so concerned about wages anyway? This isn't a Wayne Rooney situation where a player is being paid 300k per week because of his name rather than his performances. Ibrahimovic is still world class at age 34. There's a chance that his performance level might fall off at age 35 but once again, it would be a one year deal on a free transfer, it's not a big gamble. We would be lucky if we could get him. I love Martial but he's not ready to be the main striker, and he is comfortable on the left wing.

Yeah, thankfully we're the only club who pays players actual money... it's amazing the entire football industry has managed to get by on chocolate coins for so long.

We are a step below on the pitch right now but still a step up as a career move. No question.

And neither of those are in the "top dollar wage payers" category, which we are (albeit only since 2014).

The point is, if we are willing we are able to offer a better financial package than all but 3 or 4 clubs.

We are not at the top of any food chain, but we can out spend most. And that is by far the most important factor in these things. By far.

We attract the odd mercenary, which clearly doesn't work as Di Maria showed. When was the last time we pried away a star player from a club like Atletico? Kagawa and Van Persie?

DDG.

We are a different beast now. Even though we are in an absolute mess, I stand by it that we are more attractive than ever now.

Why?

Because we finally are willing to pay market rates for top players. We always fell short here until 2014, which is why we were left with a pass-it squad by Fergie. We were cheapos.

Pretty sure Van Persie was after De Gea. And he forced a move to a club with title ambitions. We aren't that animal anymore.

A one year contract wouldn't hurt anyone as long as we sign another striker as well, but he needs to know at that age he won't be a regular.

He will be if he keeps up his current level of performance. Ligue Un may not be the strongest league but he is completely ripping it apart even at this age. Some players are just able to maintain a high level of performance into their mid to late 30's, just looking at United alone think along the lines of Giggs, Scholes, Sheringham, Larsson etc

I'm of the opinion that players in their mid 30s should manage their playing time to extend their careers at the top level.

My head says we should be doing everything necessary to avoid more Falcao style cock ups. But he's had no history of injury, is on a free, and still scoring for fun. Even at 35, we'd be daft not to.

If we sign him on big wages i'd fully expect we would want to play a fully fit and in form Ibrahimovic. This is potentially his last big season in club football, a chance to win yet another Championship in another country and cement his place as one of the great strikers on the decade.

If he were to then move to MSL that is pretty much semi retirement as the game is played at a much slower pace than in EPL

This * 100! Especially when we did a similar like punt on Falcao before. Makes perfect sense to me, as long as Ibra understood that he would not be playing as first choice every game.

At least we don't have to worry about him going to City. Him and Pep aren't great friends after all :D

23 goals and 10 assists in 21 league games. Most decisive player in Europe. Still has it.

It's not like he relies on his pace, it's a mixture of strength and technique with Zlatan and he seems to be as strong as ever. I would love to have him at United.

And for some reason he still has some pace.

To be honest I'm more and more thinking our squad could do with his winners mentality/ego.

Can you imagine Zlatan finding it acceptable like his team mates did the result against Midgetland?

Half time team talk would have been different i'll tell you that! LvG wouldn't have had to say a thing; Zlatan would have been fecking furious, firing up the rest of them. Then he would have gone out and scored a hat-trick!
