You guys do realise he's 34, don't you?

When you consider the number of people who are umming & ahhing over a 30 year old Ronaldo, this guy is 4 years older.
Rooney has looked done for the last two seasons, whereas Zlatan is pretty much still as good as he's ever been. It would be worth a go, he's still got a good season or two to give

Mourinho and Ibrahimovic would be a very nice change of direction by the club. Could bring some excitement and hope back to the club.

Fingers crossed. We need big characters and proven winners.

He'd be 35, I'm not sure this would be a step in the right direction. I had great feelings about Schweinsteiger and that has proven a disaster in my opinion, high wages and a washed up player.

We don't need any more of them.

Well yeah, but the signs of Schweinsteigers decline have been clear ever since the WC final 2014. Zlatan's as good as ever, he'd love to work with Mourinho again (I'm getting ahead of myself here) and he's a free agent. Martial would have a field day with Zlatan's hold up play.

Zlatan would make a helluva lot more inpact than the last 35 year old Swedish forward the club brought in. I'd go so far as to say he'd instantly become our next best player, after DDG (stay!). For free. A no brainer. Get it done Woody, him and Mourinho in. Ta.

This isn't happening. He hates Van Gaal and I don't think our board would be brave enough to sign Zlatan at 35

In fairness I think one could see Schweinsteiger's decline even at Bayern. The WC was was imo the last time we have seen him on top of his game and even there he missed half of the tournament due to injuries. It's also the reason why Bayern let him go for such a minimal fee.

Ibrahimovic on the other hand seems to be, even with 34, Paris main man up front and as long as we don't give him a 5 year contract but a rolling 1 year contract instead it might be worth taking a gamble on him just so we don't have to rely on Rooney alone. Of course we won't be getting a prime career Ibrahimovic but he's still good enough to win us the occasional game on his own.

It only makes sense if Rooney is leaving.

You make it sound like Van Gaal will be staying beyond this summer.

As far as we are concerned right now, he is. Nothing has come from United to suggest otherwise and they seem to be sticking with him regardless of results, so I have to assume he'll be here until the end of his contract.....sadly.

If we fail to make the CL he will go, no doubt about it.

I cant see him joining unless we are in champions league or if PSG win it this year... Would love him here though the mad bastard!

He has been one of my favorite players. However, I cannot see United signing him. I guess we will go for someone younger.

Besides Ibrahimovic, what other realistic options do we have for the striker position? (Assuming we don't play the Champions League next season).

He's not going to be here if we miss out on top 4, which is looking extremely likely right now especially after the Rooney injury. I doubt he'll stay even if we do somehow sneak in, we've regressed under him.

Ibra & Rooney - slightly too senior but potentially lethal and a lot of fun next season.

Brain says no, but the muppet in me really wants it to happen. Just one season, if we make the champions league? Stranger things have happened.

I don't necessarily think no CL is a deal breaker with him. At this point, if he doesn't win it this season then i think he realizes it won't happen. Winning the PL would have a higher appeal i reckon. Can't think of a player that has won so many league titles in so many different top leagues.

So hypothetically.. Working with the manager he adores in Mourinho, PL football, Old Trafford, Manchester United. One season before heading to sunny Florida. Sounds like a decent plan.

It doesn't make sense to have two strikers in decline.
It's more important that United have an attack that's going to actually work next season. The pressure United will be under after Guardiola joins City will be unprecedented - if Rooney, and Inrahimovic, could contribute to a successful attack I'd overlook their ages.

I'm all for it. He's better than Rooney for starters, and he should also not be expecting to play every game so could be great backup and an impact from the bench if needed.

Backup for our other fantastic new striker, of course.

Lukaku for a cool £60m.

He would expect to play most games. As he should.

Could be our modern day cantona.

He's clearly still fantastic too, his size will always be imposing but he's still very fit and quick enough too. Would be amazing in the premier league. Him and mourinho this summer would revitalise us no end

He is? I thought he slowed done a bit this season.

Yes. Even as a 10 he would be the best player in our team. He and martial could make a fantastic partnership, or use him as a target man to build off in the box. He's head and shoulders above Rooney.

Then give him most games if he's still up to it.
In another season when he's knackered, he'll be decent backup.
Ye, there'd be plenty of games for another striker to play anyway. Think he might join Beckham in Miami at some point but that's in 1/2 seasons.
