Youri Tielemans

Kids clearly got potential but it showed how he isn't quite ready yet. Pogba pressed him quickly and won the physical battle with him pretty much every time

Although I know what you mean but if Pogba puts his mind to it and has capable enough team mates, he could individually dominate most midfielders in the world so it's not a slight on the kid tbh.

I didn't see the game so can't judge myself however!

I meant more in the sense that he wanted to much time on the ball. As soon as he got it we pressed him hard and he usually lost it. Think Monaco etc will be a great step up for him.

Well, there is four years difference between them and Pogba has at least seven inches and ten kilos on him. So it is understandable that he be underwhelming in the physical matchup. However in my opinion he came into the second half when the team pushed on and had an excellent second half to make the battle quite even after 90 minutes. I think if we had him in our squad he would fight Herrera for the pressing role in midfield and play it well, thought he might lack in stature I think he is an intelligent reader of positions and can pass quite well.

Not really sure how he'd do in the rigors of the premier league at 19 so I think you're absolutely correct in him physically being not ready.

Looks good but surely Fabinho or Bakayoko would be much better signings. Mourinho won't have the patience for Tielemens and I'd imagine he's already tearing his hair out with Pogba. Fabinho would be a great signing for midfield and as a back up for Valencia.

I don't get the hype. Looks a very ordinary player.

Check out the passing accuracy on the highlights below as well as his turns. It was far from his best game, but I think he showed high level technical skills. It's clear he needs a more difficult league as he needs to get used to faster play as some of what he was trying to do works in the Belgian but doesn't against quality opposition.

Think he'd be impressive in a system where he's protected and coached by someone who actually has patience. He'd be labelled a flop and just sit on the bench here, Monaco is a brilliant choice.

I can see him moving to a club like Spurs or Liverpool.

Spurs would be a good move for him.

Pochettino would really help bring him on and he'd get to learn from his fellow Belgian compatriot Dembélé; the ideal longterm replacement.

I see a bit of Seedorf in him. Composed and well balanced. I'd take him as long as he can play in a 3 with Pogba and Mkhitaryan as a number 10.

If he needs to play with a CDM then he's just competition for Pogba and that's more of a luxury than a priority. Hopefully we sign a player of this calibre to replace "Schneidsteiger".

What impressed me the most is the yellow armband he's wearing. At 20, he's captaining the side. The manager must hold him in high regard in terms of work ethic and leadership. When you're exhibiting those qualities at that age, that says a lot.

Still think you can see glimpses of his huge potential despite what was a below par display for him. In a better side which is going to have more of the ball, a player like him could really thrive.

Think the move to Monaco is a good one, get him used to a faster paced league and by 22/23 he should be ready to make that big move.

At 23 he'll probably be heading into his peak, players who tend to start earlier tend to peak sooner and fall off by their early 30's just like our Wayne, obviously there's exceptions to the rule but it's another reason why I wouldn't class someone like Lukaku as an unfinished product.

Wayne probably hasn't done everything in his power to prolong his career either, especially when you have Zlatan to compare with. Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Lampard, Xavi were all in their late teens/early twenties when they became first team regulars and have all had long careers. Pirlo made his senior debut at 16 and IMO his very best came after moving to Juventus at which point he was 32 if i'm not mistaken. I think that Tielemans with his level of technique and intelligence could have a similar longetivity to his career if he stays professional.

Yeah there are exceptions, but alot of this examples had to have to discipline to sort of "remake" themselves, I'm sure I read that Youri has some attitude problems? All I'm saying is that at 23 he'd have been a professional for 6 years, which means he'd be at his peak in terms of development, so if he's still not dictating play etc then he probably never will.

I don't really think our answer to our mediocre midfield is to add more mediocre players.

Not worth the risk. He'd be ridiculously overpriced anyway, might as well wait for him prove to himself on a bigger league before pulling the trigger.

We'd have to revert to a three man midfield to fit him in, as him and Pogba wouldn't be anywhere near good enough defensively as a pairing. Although I think that a three man midfield would be for the best for us anyway, for the time being at least, considering the midfielders that we already have at our disposal.

At only 19 years old he had a better game than Carrick and Pogba in the middle.

If I was Jose I'd be putting in a bid.

Pogba ran the game Tielemans had a better 15 to 20 minutes at max :lol:
And i rate him but he was outshone by Pogba over both legs, but still showed flashes of what he can do.

Eh, he'd be about how much Lukaku cost Chelsea - around £20m or so. Belgian league players don't really go for *that* much. De Bruyne and Courtois were about £6m and £7m each.

Nobody expects him to be the finished product. His passing range is phenomenal. It would be worth investing imo.

he did not have a better game than any of them. sorry I just don't agree. him vs pogba was like a boy vs a man. He's talented and can be great but let's not go OTT with him

Not great tonight. Those Anderlecht CB's though..

He had better shots than Pogba, thats about it. he looks like a talented player, but still so far off the level requiired here, week in week out.

Over the two games i was more impressed with the defender Kara, thought he did really well.
