It gets stick here but I stand by the value proposition of the Series S at £250 is incredible.

It absolutely is. The lower resolution isn't really an issue for people who are knowingly buying it and the lack of space isn't either given you can just put in your external HDD to it. Being a casual gamer, I'm really looking forward to my Series S arriving day after!

The difference between 1440p to 4K to me is minuscule. I game at 1440p on PC and game at 4K on my TV, I just don’t see it. The performance hit @4k is ridiculous I pick 1440p every time.

The S will be a great little console imo.

Only about 4.5 million pixels difference.

Means little in terms of what you see though

I'm gonna presume you game on a relatively small monitor and play 4k on a big tv, if they were both on a decent size tv the difference is easily recognised.

What TV size do you have and is it OLED?

If you have a massive TV then you will see the difference. Same if you have OLED TV?

There are lots of 1440p monitors that look better than 4K TVs. It depends on the quality of both. If you buy a cheap 4K TV then don’t expect it to be brilliant.

Ive haven‘t got an OLED but we do have 3 4K tv’s in our house that are mid-high range all around 55 inch. I like 4K, movies and documentaries look great, same with HDR. But I game at 1440p on my monitor (27 inch) and whilst it’s not at 4K levels 1440p doesn’t seem far off to my eye.

My point of this was id take 1440p at 60 FPS over 4K 30 everytime

Am actually a wee bit sad not to pick up my Series S pre order on Tuesday. Terrific bit of kit.

I have not heard anything from Argos about my order being dispatched. I hope they don't feck me over!

I think mines will be next week, no update on the UPS tracking since Holland.

Amazon says arriving before 8pm tomorrow. Better not have one of the last slots. They always get delayed til the next day as well.

They always say that. They only give an estimated time slot when it’s officially out for delivery.

You guys won't be laughing when the next Skyrim is exclusive!

(I don't like those games)

I will have one myself by then, even a fool can see the value of the S as a secondary machine.

I'm considering the exact same, ps5 as my main console and an S just because some of my knobhead mates bum the Xbox, although they only play FIFA like the wankers they are.

S is going to be ideal for the Xbox exclusives. So won't need to pick one up for a year or two anyway.

I think a lot of people will do the same, picking up an S Xmas next year will be great value, plenty of stuff on the backlog from gamepass and hopefully some great exclusives too.

That's the only argument I can see for the S. I just can't get over how tiny the SSD is!
That's the thing though I think it's very much hitting that note, it's a secondary machine for people with another console It's about getting an MS device into homes they might not otherwise, and hopefully selling more game pass subs.

Edit: People with a PS5 and an S aren't going to be playing cross platform games on it, and MS titles are going to use smart delivery to make installs of first party games relatively compact. As a secondary device the HDD size seems less of an issue.

My mate works at Argos and said they have no clue when preorders are being sent out. But thankfully my console has been dispatched from GAME. My other mate Mike Ashley has not let me down.

Strange that, I pre ordered my PS5 with Argos and they sent it to DPD already for launch, I thought they would have done similar for Xbox.

Don't forget Argos offer same day delivery too, they're usually decent with deliveries at least in my area.

Money has been taken from Amazon now but still not dispatched. Hopefully only needs to be in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

My mate’s has been dispatched though.

Nah not for next gen consoles.

Argos have no control over this as it’s coming directly from supplier rather than their warehouse. Yeah people were getting DHL shipping from Argos last week.

Just had my UPS update, picked up in Eindhoven and estimated delivery midday on the 11th. Pleased with that!

Scrap that, literally just had a text confirming delivery for tomorrow. Wooooo.

Step son ordered from Amazon and it's been shipped, arriving tomorrow.

He's getting the series S so ill get a good look at how it performs tomorrow
