The one thing he does well is laying off the ball, but he doesn't seem to make effective runs, he gets dominated in the air, and he doesn't get on the end of chances.

Not looking promising, unfortunately. We will surely be better off with Rashford, Garnacho and Sancho in a front three until Martial returns.

He's looking the part of a Burnley level striker at Manchester United, unfortunately. Not his fault that he's been forced into a starting role, but ETH really should not keep doing this to him. With Sancho back we have enough numbers to play Rashford up top and leave Weggy as a bench option.

There's a reason the entire footballing world was perplexed when we went for him

Think the idea was for him to start in some games (especially in cups) and come off the bench as impact sub. With Martial injured all the time, Wout has been playing almost all the time since his debut at Palace.

He's progressively getting more and more useless. This one was Ronaldo level bad

Enough of a sample size to make a judgment yet?

Because so far it's not looking good
It probably is purely because it has to be judged on its merits as a half season loan. So this portion of games represents a significant sample of what he will be judged against overall.

He has the workrate but no quality. I meant the positioning, movement. His movement and positioning is that of a player for lower mid table forward. He wouldn't be able to sniff out the chances, nor get involved to assert his presence like Fellaini.

Weird to say. As unsexy and basic as Fellaini's style looked, he knew how to position that draw those loose, aerial ball toward himself.

So far, I feel like this loan is going the Ighalo direction. At this rate, may as well just play Rashford upfront...

Weird how much we cross the ball when he is not on the pitch.

Has his uses to rest players when they are not required to play, but that is the second game in a row where we have look a million times better in attack after he has been subbed.

He's not meant to be starting games and it's becoming obvious he isn't going to suddenly transform into a player capable at this level

Weird how much we cross the ball when he is not on the pitch.

He is a major reason for that, though. He cant control the ball and we can't build attacks to get into crossing positions.

Shouldn’t be starting games. Bring him on with 10 mins to go and start throwing long balls into the box hoping for a miracle.

More of the same again. It felt like this game was always going to be chaotic and it didn’t really call for Weghorst. Sancho being not ready to start excuses it a bit as we were left with limited options.

I can’t help but think we’re in a bit of trouble if he continues to start games.

Well, the signs were there that we should not expect much from someone who is not good enough for fecking Burnley. I have to admit that I somehow expected him to do decent here and was 100% wrong. Guy is completely out of his depth here.

Can’t be starting up front in big games for us. Not good enough unfortunately.

Martial injured isn't an excusing for playing that guy. Put Rashford centrally, and now with Sancho back we have a lot of options, we don't need to play him, like at all.

He should be a sub you throw in the last 5 minutes when you're pressing with all your team searching for a goal and want more bodies in the box.

It’s an easy comparison because of his size but if he was playing in a curly wig that could easily be Fellaini up front.

I would drop him for the cupfinal. Martial offers far more defensively vs Trippier.

If he plays a single minute against Barcelona or Newcastle other than if we're winning handsomely, we need to be worried about Ten Hag.

He's so far below the standard of what we need. He doesn't really do anything. He's an appendix.

If you rate this guy then I can only assume you also rate Scott McTominay and know nothing about football other than "working hard".

Completely useless in any top team.
Yeah unfortunately as has been said, with Martial injured, he's been thrown into the starting 11. He's clearly not the calibre of a Man Utd footballer. Almost reminds me of when Moyes bought Fellaini. It was hard to get used to someone so cumbersome on the ball. Wout has an OK touch and can play a bit, but it's all in slow motion. I was hoping he'd be used more as a sub when we can whip a few crosses in etc.
The attacks are too easy to track with him in the team, the opposition have more time to set themselves. I think this game might have been his last starting. In the league anyways.

Granted he's not good but when he's on the pitch we put next to zero crosses in. He's subbed and its raining crosses, WTF! Everyone can quite clearly see playing through balls to him it's doing nothing but we have never tried to utilise his strengths and that is a real head scratcher.

Shouldn't be starting. Bring him on near the end of games to press tired defenders.

Weird how much we cross the ball when he is not on the pitch.
We used to do the same to Cavani, I swear.

Although in this case, it might be that he’s not making these opportunities with his movement while on the pitch. Seems strange otherwise.

The crazy thing for me was people were actually defending this transfer or trying to convince themselves he was good because he held the ball well in some instances.

Nothing against the lad. He clearly doesn't belong to this level of football. He's clearly trying but he's just an awful footballer. This can't be helped. It's our fault bringing him.
He was supposed to be a stopgap to play once a month but Martial. Only real gripe were suggestions to make it permanent after 2 games. Shocker from the same fanbase that brought us Ole at the wheel. Unlike us to get carried away.

Terrible. Shouldn’t be starting again for us.

He already started too much games. Please don’t make him start the next one.

He should be third choice striker behind Martial and Rashford and a sub option. I think he just limits us as a team, even if he's playing okay.
