Goldbridge talking shite again, suggesting Ole was right to keep Fred on at 45 minutes but should have taken him off at 60 minutes.

Everyone on the planet saw the sending off coming. Proof? Review the match thread.

We could be the only English side that fails to advance through the groups. Would be really sad even if we got the hardest group without any doubts.

I have an old microwave, it's still doing the basics but its pretty shite and makes my kitchen look cheap. The extractor fan makes noise but does nothing about the smoke. The handle came off but I can still open the door using my finger in the hole left behind. I know I should replace it but I don't want to spend a few hundred on a fancy one just to heat up yesterday's dinner.
That's how I feel about Ole to be honest. I just wish the last few managers of this club were braver. I want to see us go all out in attack and sustain that attitude every minute in every game. Give us something to cheer. Otherwise I want a new microwave, one with a roast chicken button so I can have that nervous excitement back.

Did the microwave have strong (and perhaps irrational derived) sentimental value too? Do you find yourself reminiscing about that one instance when a roast chicken dinner proved extra sumptuous because of that microwave and as such have felt compelled to keep it?

My advice would be don’t use it, get a new one ....or it’ll be you who’s the roast chicken

Ole can sort himself out

Donkey, idiot, shit, useless, championship player...all that is used for our players (by the same people who are here "disgusted" when people talk about Ole in that way).

Scroll through Psg game thread and read what people said about Fred for example. There is no poster here who called Ole idiot or piece of shit for example.

I hear you, but one does not justify the other, both examples are embarrassing.

Kind of. It's what got me in to Samsung appliances and black plastic was slick back then and now I'm all about the modern black stainless steel.

I thought Ole had the lads playing well, it's a shame Fred got suckered in by Paredes. I'm seeing improvement in the team so I'm happy. Rome wasn't fixed in a day...

I really don't think the match day thread should be used as evidence for what should be acceptable in other threads or for anything really.

A lot of it is purely a venting exercise which is fine for that thread.

Exactly, I know for a fact my most over the top and reactionary posts are in those threads, because its all heat of the moment stuff. You can't compare how people react during a game to a random lunchtime where no football is going on but people are spitting nonsense anger.

The inconsistency he and the team serve up is unacceptable. Time to go for him, he is out of his depth

It sounds like Deadwood Woodward has come out and backed Ole again. Hes also bragged we spent the most again, but still no end product. Will he be backed if he finishes 5th I wonder? Think ol Deadwood will be singing a different song then.

Whats so tough about our group? Have I missed something about PSG, Leipzig and Istanbul? We scored 9 past the latter two in two games. In what world do the underdogs beat the overwhelming favourites 5-0? I'd say if anything, bar Istanbul, we're three evenly matched good teams.

This place literally laughs at PSG every year and all of sudden, we're meant to fear them. One stupid decision stopped us from possibly winning 3 out of our last 4 games against them.

Everything boils down to ambiton, our objective strength on paper and alternatives. Our collective ambiton has obviously fallen hard, but it hasn’t increased on par with our current squad strength/new signings for some reason. The fanbase is divided down the middle into yes and no, which is difficult to find anywhere else. Half of the bunch see «development» after any win, no matter how we played, three points is us going somewhere - completely leaving out the fact that this squad could win games all the time even without a manager. Sack him tomorrow and we’d win games here and there regardless, our players are really good.

I have left the argument a long time ago and the discussion really looks like Republicans vs. Democrats these days, in other words just a bunch of people arguing without ever going to respect each other or listen, so what is the point - in the end we will see what happens.

My stance is still based on two things; we aren’t producing the points our team should be getting and also as important, we aren’t playing very well. We do not have an attacking system showing our ability, we do not outplay other teams with combinations and flair, we aren’t grabbing teams by the neck and punishing them from the go, we have an underdog mentality even against teams in the lower half, we basically don’t score enough goals and the team doesn’t entertain me (enough). We can play great one day and look like City, the next we look like WBA at home to Newcastle. With this playing material, it’s for me completely unacceptable.

Pains me to say though but Woodward is right in what he says. We've outspent pretty much everyone - the manager has been backed whether we want to protest or not. United have spent a fortune on players since Ole took over.
Question is, has the team improved in a way to reflect the spend? I'd say most definitely not. We can't always point fingers at Woodward when it comes to spending. He could give Ole another £500m and I still think we wouldn't be title challengers. He's not getting enough out of the players he has now.

Three semi final defeats last season say otherwise. After our position after GW2 in CL we've qualified by now haven't we? We got the one point needed in Istanbul & vs. Paris didn't we? We never choked yet again did we?

I prefer to have a team that is good enough but chokes - than a team that isn't good enough and is never in a position to choke. Which is where we have been for the last 10 years (including the last few seasons with Ferguson)

Shhh, don't tell these things, people will jump over you for not realising the size of the rebuild, blah blah.

This place is all about favoritism, whataboutism and hyperbole. I'm certainly guilty of carrying favorites as well.

But for anyone to suggest that PSG is a bad team after having been in the CL final a few months ago, is just plain WEIRD.

Yeah we lost the game, it absolutely sucks, but no one can with a credible face say that that game was not both fun to watch, and admit that the team came out to win, and quite frankly should have. The team is playing SO GOOD right now.

I'm not debating that.

The point I'm trying to make is that we are currently held back by our manager who's learning on the job. Is he the best manager we can get? Do you not think we should always strive to have the best manager we can get? If we had a top manager here, maybe we wouldn't have to settle for that.

Why do we always have to assume the role of naïve happy go lucky in these high stakes ties, whilst other teams wily take advantage of us?

A top manager already understands how PSG are trying to act, and takes Fred off at half-time before they have the chance to get him sent off. 2-1 down with 11 men, who knows what happens, but we will never know, because our manager routinely shoots himself in the foot.

We have an excellent squad at least a regular top 4 squad. The end product is missing. Now you would think the penny would drop with Deadwood. With the players we have we shouldnt be having swings in form like we are having. Its got to be coaching, tactics, in game management etc. Bruno had to bellow at Ole to make subs. Thats not right.

Still, we are not far behind, so let´s see in the end what team are the most consistent in the PL. I feel we have a strong team, and unlike 2 years ago, I feel we can go out and compete with any team. Not just being pushed back, hoping for a lucky victory. This team look a lot stronger than the team Ole inherited from Mourinho. Just think of how we were dominated against PSG and Barcelona at home soon 2 years ago. And also how we were dominated away against Tottenham when Rashford scored the winner. And even how dominated we were in the first match against Chelsea where we ended up winning 4-0. We look a much stronger side now, we can play more on the front foot, the way Ole wants.

There is a lot inconsistency all around in the European leagues, as well as in the PL. And the core of this inconsistency, is perhaps the inconsistency in players performances. It has been a special year for them too. In the end, a plan in hand does not win you the game.

Sometimes I feel people express pessimism just for the sake of it. When we go to Germany next week, I still think most fan can go there with some justified optimism. I expect us to be looking like the better team, and I expect us to dominate West Ham tomorrow. I think we can win any game. But we´ll never win every game. It´s football after all, sometimes a rather chaotic sport.

Whining he should be sack is pointless now, Woodward backing him 100% and players seems to enjoy under his tenure, looks very United too.;)

So yeah, go on...keep on whining.

For me this isn't really a pro, I mean it's not a con but the fact that we didn't get played off the park isn't a perk. Going into that game I didn't expect us to hold on for our lives. I get that expectations have been dropped because 4 years of Ole and Jose have had us going into these games with a negative approach. We are now a good team that can and should look respectable against anyone. For that you could say Ole and the club deserve some credit in assembling the team. Yesterday's team fielded the likes of Bruno, Cavani with the luxury of a Pogba to bring off the bench. Not getting played off the park should normally be the starting point for expectations. Beating PSG and Leipzig were true causes for celebration of progress

Great. He’ll last a full season get sacked and we’ll get Tuchel or Allegri.

Rinse Repeat. A new manager for you to blindly back.

Could it be the key reason why Ole is "comparably successful" with the previous two managers is because of...
... his positive manner in not giving pressure to the players?

We already know how the players couldn't handle the daily constant criticism from LVG ("he's too negative!") nor the pressures from Mourinho ("he's too toxic!"), but this two won't make schoolboy naive decision makings and arguably greater tactical knowledge plus better coaching in certain areas. Just that fans hate their chosen systems. Still, they won trophies.

The players are also on daily basis already given high pressures by the media and pundits, sometimes even the fans when they're present on the stadium.

His laissez-faire management style and especially the football system suits majority of the players who couldn't handle over pressures.
This can both be a good and bad things. We're yet (or ever?) to win any trophies.

 You believe that?
1. Didn't Ed also backed both LVG and Mou before, then later on he still sacked them?

2. Do the players really enjoy playing that kind of football?

Keep on believing then

Yes, you need to get in good players. But good players do not always succeed when they change team. And it looks like Ole´s new signings are doing well, coming into a positive atmosphere where they feel welcomed, and the new signings look like team players, not so much egos. Ole said he needed 3 years to build a title challenging squad and I think he can bring us there with another summer window with money well spent.

Let's just put a pin in giving Ole 3 years or him being a summer from challenging, he'll have to earn that (3 years is a lot of time and money commitment for something this uncertain) but I think I can agree with the rest. I however feel the club is getting better at signing players and building teams. The Cavani signing is already a masterstroke from clueless Ed woodward and our clueless structure everyone likes to disparage. He too is getting better at the job but like Ole that doesn't mean I want him there longterm

Basically he need to win a title to turn everyone on his side! Ideally a big one.
Why shouldn't he be judged with the same standard ? You guys sacked all the previous coach despite winning a cup , why you should lower your standard for Ole ? He has spend almost 300m , outspending anyone else by the same period and 0 trophy to show off , You can't keep giving him time to rebuild , the players isn't get any younger , another 2 years of trophyless and some players will reach 30 so you might have to replace them again. Just sack him and hire Max Allegri , you will be title contender with this squad in no time. No need to make excuses such as rebuild this rebuild that.

Yeah well, he has to make sure to survive during those 3 years, and he did first season. This one just started.

Okay...what kind of football?
Is this "the ugliest football" on earth?

Are you for feckin real ? As we have spent less than 40 million than you lot over the past 3 seasons, as do you forget that kind of info is easy to find. Fat frank has spent more than Ole last 2 season, city have outspent us also last 2, everton less then 10 million, so take your fake news bullshit stats and well you know where to stick them.

As for sacking him, why ? We have also have to listen to worse excuses than "rebuild" like why flopenham hotduds never win anything , whats its 12 yrs since you last won a trophy in the league cup, last one before that 90 and league, well tellies were still black n white, so sorry you dont have a right to knock a club that wins things, when lets be honest even in our worse, we still win things and spursy well do the spursy thing, fail.

The difference is we have serial winner as our manager who won a trophy with your washed up squad , despite your fanbase didn't allow him to use an excuse like having an injury prone back line , chuckle brother , inconsistent striking option, lingard as 10, Mata as right winger and a virus as a midfielder. Right now United ,factually have a serial loser as a manager , you can give him a billion worth of players and a decade of time i will still bet my missus that he will not win you the league. Remember cnut of 92 had a narrative that you guys had a good enough squad to win the league , it's the manager was the problem , now their narrative is players isn't good enough and the manager isn't the problem , your club legend are jokes. Today I won't be surprised he is getting schooled by Moyesy , another coach you guys sacked who also had a finished squad , simply because he wasn't a club legend.

I think he's doing ok, could be better obviously but as yet Martial and Greenwood aren't upto last seasons form and I think Rashford has been poor in alot of games, I think if utd win a cup and get more points than last season he deserves another year,
