Before people start creaming themselves about PSG, remember, they have been dreadful this season and were there for the taking tonight. We are massive bottlers.

Question for the posters in here. Feel free to answer once you've cooled down:

1. Did Fergie always take off players on a yellow at half time?
2. Did we not dominate the second half until their scrappy goal? And was Fred not a part of this domination? After all, it was primarily in midfield we dominated them in order to set up the chances(that our attackers consistently fecked up).
3. Was Fred's second yellow card really a yellow card(or even a freekick for that matter)?
4. Can Ole be blamed for terrible finishing?

That's what I thought...

Sure it does. The goals go in, none of this happens, and you go back in your box until the weekend.

Not at all. We were basically playing with 10 and a half men from the 25th minute, surely you can see that?

Not meaning to have a go, and I'm sure you're not either. But can you not see how that was a stupid decision?

It really doesn't matter if we played well for about 30 minutes, Ole proves again just how poor a manager he is. Why the feck do we do this to ourselves?

Yes but having 10 men makes it 100 times harder to equalise and Fred's sending off is entirely on Ole.
Id say Fred's sending off is on the ref given he clearly got all of the ball. He could've subbed him off early, but unfortunately we lack energy without him. We had the edge for most of the second half, so not fetching him off was a risk that didn't come off but made sense.

Martial is a walking disaster this season but why are people saying he missed two easy chances?

Bruno should have been shooting after Cavani hit the bar, it was a poor decision from him to cut it back and give PSG time to cover the space.

Martial shouldn't have been on the pitch after that walking paced first half of his anyway.

He shouldn't have left Fred on but that we played well and should have been out of sight before the sending off.

I'm not Ole's biggest fan but I don't blame him for today's result. It's on Martial IMO.

I think the comments in this thread are now becoming premature after a game where Ole made one fatal error. All things considered we should be looking at the picture as a whole, which is this was our 3rd consecutive strong performance, showing there is a sense of consistency in the way we play. We are able to take games to teams a lot better, and we aren't relying solely on counter attacks to unlock big sides. It's a mistake in keeping Fred on and Ole will likely learn from that, but I've always maintained my own evaluation on how we progress emphasises on performance as much as it does results.

And if we perform against Leipzig the way we did today, we will almost certainly be in the knock out stages. I mark today as another sign of progression for the manager, even though we lost the game.

I am Ole out but blaming him for this match is just being silly.
Yes he should have taken Fred off but we should have scored and Martial missed a sitter.
Then take into consideration the quality of players they have compared to ours.
I don't think any of our players could be a regular in the PSG side.
I don't blame him for losing to PSG.
Both teams are as good as one another. They have two outstanding players but the squads are nearly the same.
Doesn't fly with me. Both PSG & leipzig didn't even turn up against us until tonight and even then we can't do the job of qualifying properly.
We haven't beaten any decent team all season that came to play.

won against PSG, he’s a genius, great tactics. lost against PSG, he is incompetent.

the lack of objectivity you see in this thread is sad.

Ole gambled by keeping Fred, but it’s a gamble with every player with a yellow card (especially in Fred’s position and role). It didn’t pay off. But that doesn’t mean he is incompetent and should go!!

what about the missed chances? Cavani hitting the cross bar? We were actually closer to scoring.

Unfortunately we lost today, we get up and carry on

Tactically he got things spot on. If anything, we had 2 glorious chances to take the lead and had we converted even one of them, that was game over.

However, keeping Fred on was an atrocious decision, and while no one can say if it cost us the game or not (as we were 2-1 down), it certainly did harm our chances

Other than booting the ref in the bollocks, Fred was screaming to get sent off ....so Ole keeps him on 2nd half :wenger:

Also I said it again and again, people jumping on in matchday thread to reply on anyone blaming Ole by saying he's blameless and it's a fecking joke to blame him for the match shows clearly that there're some here whose priority is Ole more than the club, as ridiculous as it sounds. We can't be losing this and the only reaction some can bring is to hit at posters for blaming the manager. It shows some are in it just for the manager.

We’ve known this and it’s annoying

There's an irony here. For a player who cemented his legacy as a sub coming on to win games, he doesn't seem to quite get it as a manager.

Did anyone hear Oles tactics over the microphone when we went 2-1 down? He shouted to Bruno “get in around Mason” that’s the extent of his tactical knowledge. Get around Mason. Jesus Christ imagine Pep saying that.

Players miss sitters all the time. Taking Fred off was a decision every single United fan could see as the sensible thing to do. Him not doing it put us to ten men, then it led to Cavani coming off and Maguire taking his place as the 9. I mean, how in the feck are y'all defending the management in this game.

Players let us down tonight by being so damn wasteful. Ole let us down by not taking Fred off imo.

It’s not good enough, but we are close to something great. Need a top striker in asap imo.

You are aspiring to be absolutely clueless if you don't see how diabolically poor management lost this match. It isn't even worthy of debate either you understand or you don't, and you obviously don't.
Take Fred off and bring who on with his engine?

He gambled on Fred because it gave us the best chance to maintain our hold on the game. I said this at half time.

Gamble backfired, fair enough, that’s football, we still created more than enough to win, your aspiring to be clueless if you ignore that as well.

He shouldn't have left Fred on but that we played well and should have been out of sight before the sending off.

I'm not Ole's biggest fan but I don't blame him for today's result. It's on Martial IMO.
Criminal from him, yes, but he's been out of form all season. Who do you think starts Martial? Or keeps him on the pitch after missing sitters and playing shite?

Why do we always talk about how many misses we have anyway? Every team misses chances. Only for Ole is the "if only X scored" excuse trotted out.

with the fixture schedule we have, we really could do without having to take a full strength squad to Germany next week.

If anything, today reinforces the point we've got a squad that can compete, both domestically and in Europe.

If we had a manager on the level of the squad, we'd be level with Liverpool. As it is, we've got Ole, so here we are.

Positives: I'd like to credit this to him: We had control for a period of time in that second half.

Negative: Abysmal game management. The Fred debacle. Leaving subs until it's too late. Not reacting to Tuschel changing things up.

It's a typical Ole affair. I'm always looking for a sliver of hope that he'll come good and become the manager to take us back to the top but I'm occasionally reminded why my head keeps telling me that's improbable. Days like this. Wonder how a proper top class tactician and coach would fare with this team.

Ole trusted Fred and tbf he was right as we were dominating the game in the second half (which Fred was big hand on). If Fred had been gotten a yellow for a rash tackle, then obviously Ole would have been wrong in his decision to trust Fred to not get sent off. Fred was not at all rash the whole half and got sent off for a good tackle. So Ole out?

He set the team up well, we did better against last years finalists than I expected tbh

I hate when people start with 'Did Fergie'...Ole isn't Fergie, he hasn't done anything to be like Fergie, nor does he have the same goodwill that Fergie had when mistakes happened. He made a massive error tonight and it should be questioned.

Bruno should have been shooting after Cavani hit the bar, it was a poor decision from him to cut it back and give PSG time to cover the space.

This is an absolutely horrible take imo. He put it on a plate for Martial who took an age to take his shot.

Players miss sitters - blame Ole.

The Caf is a belter.
How some people can't understand that manager is not there to get only some things right? The same how we as a club have high standards for midfielders, defenders etc...it goes for manager also. In big games all decisions are important.
Yes, we did play good. He prepared us good for game. But, he fecked up with Fred. And lost the game there. While i am writing this, pundits are saying exactly that. They can't believe why Fred was not subbed.

Criminal from him, yes, but he's been out of form all season..Who do you think starts Martial? Or keeps him on the pitch after missing sitters and playing shite?
What should he do? Bring on Ighalo? Or Greenwood who we all know have banged in goals this season?

All things considered we should be looking at the picture as a whole, which is this was our 3rd consecutive strong performance

A defeat in such an important match can never be a "strong performance". We're not Sheffield United.

Someone hacked your account

We'd have definitely levelled the game with Fred on the pitch  must sack him!

Yes it's an error in hindsight. Martial and Cavani take their chances and no one is talking about it.

Actually there would be people here lamenting how lucky he was that Fred was on the pitch at all.

We have a talented team with a limited manager. With Ole we won't go much further than where we are now.

Sure, we will win games, sure there's going to be dramatic & emotional results that are tied to his status as a former player.
But he's not a top manager, almost 2 years in and we have no identity, no established "best XI", no consistency and acceptance of poor results.
We rely too much on individual goals, penalties, and luck.

He should've been sacked over a year ago imo.

This is what kills me, because I am convinced of the same too. I said a month or so ago that we'll be good enough to keep him in a job but not good enough to win anything major. It's a hard place to be, or believe you are in. I just hope I'm wrong and he can take us up a level or two, because you know he won't ever be going anywhere until he decides himself.

Jesus! That's a new one now.

You want a manager from touchline to shout - Hey Bruno, get around Mason and make an overlapping run and create a 2 v 1 situation on that flank, and then cross it in?

It's a touchline instruction, it's never going to be more than a few words
