There's no way you're a real fan if you're not over the moon with that. In terms of the game we fully deserved it, so much better than Southampton who were lucky with their 2 goal lead.

Ole was great today with the changes he made. Early as well! Didn't wait until 60/80 minutes!

This was Ferguson at its best - steamrolling the opponent after going 2-0 down. And an injury time winner when the opponents are tired

Starting with Greenwood wasn't a good decision IMO. The lad has had his troubles recently and shouldn't be rewarded with an immediate return to the starting lineup. Also, he didn't offer much outside of the runs he made beyond the defense and the lucky chance he failed to convert.

The diamond was fine I guess but it entirely depended on how the players executed it. Southampton were stumped initially but the two set piece goals changed the game and then we had to chase it which opened up our flanks for their counterattacks.

He did redeem himself by changing things up at half-time instead of waiting for the 60 minute mark. He deserved the credit for changing it up and then his substitute scoring 2 and assisting 1.

it’s good to see that some fans can still analyse games properly. It’s been ole-in vs ole-out camps for some time now with people missing to actually acknowledge what is actually happening on the pitch.

agree with you, greenwood shouldn’t have started. But fair play to the manager for changing his tactics and actually making player changes at half time. He turned around (credit to the players for executing this properly).

We’ve pretty much stuck it to Southampton away all game, and yet the crybabies have sat in here whining the usual incoherent bitching about tactics and formations. Embarrassingly shit fans.

Up there with Woodward as the worse part of the club at the moment.

The constant over the top emotional talk about the manager, other managers, other teams, is melting heads big time.

It feels its like alternative facts as we are sitting top of the champs league group and progressing to the action in the league The clear bit is the team clearly playing for the coach so why is there constant tears from folk.

A draw between Spurs and Chelsea - and we could be 2 points from the top of the table if we beat Burnley away - and people want him sacked :)

Why is it so hard to get behind the team and be positive?

Support the club, support the manager, the players, stop being a "high standard" spoilt brats.

Exactly, it should be fine to have differing views but the toxicity in here at times from everyone entrenched in their views with absolutely zero willingness to change is crazy. We did well today and it was an exciting game, enjoy.

We were pretty average first half. The diamond (which evolved into matching their 4222) initially did well at stifling them but we didn't create much clear cut apart from Greenwood's chance from their 2 GK errors. It's not a formation we have played a lot recently and we were disjointed and after a good start descended into being very much So'ton's half. So'ton are a team that is well drilled and press well but, especially without Ings, simply don't have enough quality or firepower (which we saw given they only scored from set pieces) and we definitely made it hard for ourselves by starting with too cautious/negative a setup and that's becoming a theme (WBA, Brighton, Soton). Would you agree with that?
I wouldn't say we made it hard for ourselves, i never expected an easy game, we aren't going to dominate for 90 minutes. It wasn't anything special but I thought we were the better team in the first half, i might be wrong but i can barely remember a decent chance from open play for them. We were more comfortable than the last game in July throughout which is a positive sign.

You're right. I feel we were also creating more today than we were in the first fixture v Southampton last season (which I think was a draw too, and they might have had 10 men).

Fans want us to win 9 out of 10 games. This team isn't as good as some fans think it is and then they blame Ole when we don't win. They even blame him when we do.

No manager in the world is winning a PL title or CL title with this team. Defence isn't good enough. Rashford n Martial still blowing hot and cold. Midfield has its issues at times too.

Ole has done a good job for me. The players, most of them anyway, aren't capable of a PL challenge.

My sentiment has always been that while I don’t think we’ll be going anywhere significant under Ole, I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong and we get back to where we should be. Hopefully these past few games can represent a new baseline for us, rather than a purple patch that’s going to soon be followed by another run of matches where we can’t seem to score at all.

Continuously bashing the players even after such fantastic win isn't really anything less bizarre than what you think people are doing with the manager.

Our squad is fecking great and have big mentality shown today in second half.

If Ole wins one of CL or PL, this conversation ends.
It won’t. See Di Matteo, Ranieri, Benitez etc.

Some people have an idea of what they perceive proper coaching to be and everything else is wrong. It’s this weird ‘no gray area’ culture that’s crept into all aspects of culture in the last few years.

It’s news or fake news essentially.

What a strange post. My opinion is Ole is doing a fine job, and the club confirming that could only be positive for the club, players and most fans.
surely there have to be a pick up in form up til then, so if he signed a new contract in April. It only means we did. Have no idea what Hodgson or anyone else have to do with anything.
I would wait and see where we are at the end of the season before giving out any new contract extention. If were top 4 fine, but if we fail to qualify it means no progress has been made season on season. Giving contracts out mid season can rebound on you. Remember when we made him permanent manager and how the season fell apart?

You really have a fecking problem mate. I've already said I misunderstood your question and what I said earlier was due to that misunderstanding.

This is my explanation of what I meant when I said Poch and i clearly said I may have misunderstood your question. What more do you want  . It seems like you just want to have the last word in every conversation and you think you know it all so I'm not going to bother replying you because you surely will have something to say again and it's a waste of time going back and forth with you

My problem is that you changed your argument from Ole can't win league title as he needs to have the best team in the league especially under this board to something like Poch is one of the coaches that has the ability to get a club to surpass their expectations. Two complete different topic and you fused them together just to confuse the discussion   What's the point?

It’s not really bashing is it? You said so yourself earlier, poor performances deserve to be criticised where they happen. You said yourself that Greenwood was poor, on another day he could have had two goals. Rashford missed a sitter and Martial hasn’t started this season yet.

The original poster is right. You can’t win a league or a major trophy with a front line that perform that way, or a goal keeper who is occasionally shaky.

He’s not said they won’t improve, he’s just said that they won’t win a title in the current state.

Di Matteo and Ranieri are once in a life time flukes. I think most of us would be able to spot a fluke like that and won't award life time loyalty based on that.

I'm not bashing anyone. I'm behind the manager and team. I'm merely pointing out the limitations of the players. It's not their fault they aren't world class. Most of them try their best so that's enough for me.

If Ole or whoever won a title with this squad it would be a ridiculous achievement.

The gamble paid off today, just. On another day it won’t.

What gamble?
We should never have been 2-0 down. It was one of those sod's law outcomes a weaker mentality team would have crumbled under.

Which I disagree with. The current squad is for me good enough to finally mount a title challenge. Not say win it, of course you never knew but quality wise and in comparison to other rival teams, I don't find any reason why we can't challenge for the league.

Greenwood and Rashford were poor today but this isn't the usual thing we got from them. Greenwood on another day wouldn't miss such 2 ridiculous chances. He had a day off.

It has to be noted most of our best players are already 25 and beyond that. If we don't challenge for the league within the next 2 years max, it'll be simply a waste for me.

Good win. It still doesn't change my mind. Ole may publicly not say anything about the goals conceded but the first goal is a coaching issue.

Serious question are you a robot?

Either or play too much football manager if manager fault for rashford letting his player get away near post.

Spot on. We have a really good squad. We as fans should demand results.

The squad is good enough to challenge for the league. I look at the other rivals and I see no reason why we should consider ours not good enough for a challenge. Liverpool and City aren't any more unbeatable gods like they used to be last 2 seasons.

We can judge quality of the squad in comparison to other teams around in general, which in this regard, the current squad is good enough for the majority of it.

Completely agree with this and your previous post.

There’s clear limitations to this squad but it’s not far off being something special. It would be a major achievement for any manager to win something with this current team, and not because they’re shit, there’s clear areas of weakness which we all see but some chose to blame Ole for.

But we were. Conceding from the same set piece we conceded to them the last time we played them.

Taking off a goal scorer when you need three and keeping on the more defensive players was a gamble. It worked in the end but for me it’s a decision that backfires more often than not. For me the more prudent decision would’ve been to take off a midfielder and gone to our normal shape with three forwards because if it hadn’t worked we didn’t have the option of another goal scorer to bring on.
