If he starts doing that we will win the league.Ole's real test is consistently winning games that we are expected to win starting today.

And by your logic Mourinho’s 2nd season was better than Fergie’s treble winning team. It goes both ways.So by your logic if a team finished with 40 pts and avoided relegation by finishing 17th, then got 40 pts but finished 15th the season after, this would be progress? No its stagnation.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Liverpool are top of the league and haven't got out of second gear yetIf he starts doing that we will win the league.
I agree that Ole has done a good job in tightening the defence, and those resulsts are great. God point : )I know people like to throw shit at our defenders, but it's pleasing to see another 2 clean sheets on the bounce. That's 22 in 2020 which is significantly more than our rivals. Not bad, good to see us returning back to our defensive form after a sloppy start.

Sorry, right winger is correct. I have uppdaited the post : )Left winger? We got rashford there, we need someone on the right unless we will start playing diamond more often.

But he have had to arrange the middfield in a defencive way to tighen the defence, and it have have hampered our offencive game.
The centerbacks are to slow, and if we had a world class center back paring (like Rio and Vidic was), our attacking play would become a lot better : )

You're doing the lord's workI'm not sure it has. We've got the second highest goals per game in 2020, just slightly behind Manchester City.

But lets say that the majority of these goals come from games we are more open and don't keep clean sheets. Below is the list of our clean sheets. Only 6 of them are tight results, i.e. 0-0 or 1-0. 12 of these fixtures have us scoring more goals than our current average i.e. 3 or more goals. In these 22 fixtures we've scored 57 goals. I wish I had stats for specific starting midfields but alas I do not. As it would be interesting to see our results when McFred starts together.

First of all, this is his third season. Lets stop talking about his first season as it was some free time or something.
We have squad who must challenge for title. Is our squad that far behind City or Liverpool? I don't think so. As last game proved, we are well covered on all positions but manager must use players better and find the way to play his best players. It is manager's job. To start James and Mata in first 11 in wrong system while having VDB, Pogba and Cavani on the bench is his decision. The fact that we don't have players for 4231 (while having perfect players for another formation) is not excuse for not challenging.
Again i repeat; challenge not winning. If City or Liverpool go again on 95 points and we finish on 80 then fair play to them and Ole. We tried, they were better and that is it.
In fairness, half of his first season, Mourinho was in charge, and from Ole took over, United were actually the third best team in the league. So what´s your point exactly?First of all, this is his third season. Lets stop talking about his first season as it was some free time or something.

It's actually amazing how points are twisted based on who the manager is.
Both extreme camps constantly shift the goalposts on certain subjects to suit their narratives.
Yeah, that's true.
I don't even see these camps as 'Ole in' or 'Ole out'.
The small minority that camp out with these extreme opinions are far more 'Ole can do no wrong' and 'Ole can do no right'. Both are so entrenched in their beliefs, that reasoned nuanced conversations, pointing out even his obvious flaws or qualities are impossible to have in a civilised manner.
Yes, it is.It's actually amazing how points are twisted based on who the manager is.
They have already decided on Ole's position, so what happens on the pitch has 0 relevance.
I believe Ole might not be good enough to win us titles but he is also doing decent job, finishing 3rd and then winning 2/2 games in CL against tough opposition. We have to improve our league form though.
My view on it too. He's changed my opinions on him before, so he may well make me believe he can win the league but not right now.
Yeah, our form in 2020 is very good. Scored many goals, defensively good and also did well in the league. Shame somehow signing Bruno is used against Ole (not surprised though).
We have very good team, if can perform consistently then at least we should finish top 4 comfortably.
Both sides of this points argument reek of bias.
That's people for you. Little to do with football.
My personal slant is that he's more than earned his right to see out the tetchy bits. By the end of his tenure (whenever that may be), we'll almost certainly be in a far better position moving forward than at any point since Moyes turned up. When folks say we have the squad to challenge, that's mainly down to Solskjaer as far as I can see.
Our team is good and we finally have some really nice squad depth. Add to that Ole's improvements in a coaching and tactical sense and I fully fancy a comfortable top four finish. I would be happy with that outcome, and with a good summer window next year, I would expect more improvements and a title fight.
Aye, there's plenty of reasoned posters to converse with so the small minority can be ignored.
He'll certainly leave us in a far better place than the mess left behind by Jose. He's built a good solid squad with some very exciting youngsters and gotten rid of players that needed binning. He's also improved the likes of Rashford, Fred and McTominay while managing Greenwoods development in top notch fashion.
We should be consistent, right now that's our biggest issue.
Yeah we have to build on what we have achieved to mount title challenge, we should have been aggressive this window.
Man knows what good show is.
Our home form is deeply concerning. We've been awful in all of those games too. Our last six games:
Southampton D
West Ham D
Palace L
Spurs L
Chelsea D
Arsenal D?

I just sat down and skimmed through this entire thread, more or less. There's a lot of sober minds who were treated like garbage along the way and are owed an apology, by people who are still posting on almost every page. Also I just love how the narrative have gone from people hating on Ole and lashing out at anyone either supporting him or merely reserving their judgement, to now claiming "he's improved a lot" and using that to justify their initial bias. As if he used to be the worst there is and now suddenly he's good. That makes no sense to me, it's just making up excuses for oneself by fitting the narrative.
I'd much rather suggest he was never that bad to begin with, that perhaps he even had a long-term plan just like he claimed and that he was right in saying there's no quick-fix to the situation he inherited. That maybe, just maybe, you were simply wrong back then and way premature (not to mention exaggerated) in your objections.
I remember during his initial run thinking "this can't last". The drive was back (I'd even call it overdrive especially that match against PSG) and the positivity, but for the most part the quality still wasn't there and many of these players were the same ones that had downed tools many times before so I kind of expected them to do it again at some point. A lot of people, even in this thread, knew his initial season could end badly, and that we'd definitely struggle the next unless some serious improvements were made. I believe Ole himself made a transfer wish in that regard, highlighting the need to strengthen all across the field before backing down on his demand the moment he knew these wouldn't be met. Which makes sense, to say you're happy with your squad even if you're not, as you can't go to war against your employers nor risk your players feeling unappreciated or inadequate if you want to maintain a healthy working environment.
Positivity breeds success, even when it's not really warranted it will still improve your chances more so than defeatism. It's why it's called "defeatism", because it leads to defeat.
So no, Solskjær hasn't suddenly improved, he's done a good job making the right calls all along (well as much as you can expect from any manager at least / nobody's perfect). He's taken the necessary steps needed for making the most of a very difficult situation. It's the quality of our squad, alongside the mentality and togetherness (the "culture" if you may) also needed for success, that are finally up to standards and that's why we're seeing improvement in results. To judge someone's management before these fundamental requirements are in place, like so many have done in this thread, that's just silly and I hope we as supporters have learnt from this.
Criticism where criticism's due, sure, but also credit where credit's due. And if it isn't due, if circumstances dictate it's too soon to tell, then focus on supporting your team. Negativity is a destructive force, it shouldn't come easy to you.
Needs 3-4 more transfer windows to get the side to play with energy and focus on a consistent basis.
