You would have to point them out because I never saw that.

In any case Liverpool were playing the most enterprising football at that point in time so I can understand people not begrudging them the win for being the most entertaining team. We aren't RAWK after all, we can give credit where credit is due. Is

Really?

I can't.

@the unknown one.

I absolutely hate them and above all didn't want Pool to win the league in 2014. I hope it was oppo fans or a negligible minority that wanted them to win.

It was the season Arsenal started really strongly, and half the media already had the "Wenger justified doing it his way" stuff written, only for Liverpool to emerge with a ridiciulous run of games and smash through.

This season, they really cannot lose.
Top 4 will count as a terrific season, having finished 8th last year. With us, City and Chelsea spending big and under new managers, and Arsenal never missing top 4, that's 4 tough barriers for starters.
And that's without factoring Tottenham in, with their new wave of stars.

They could finish 6th and claim it was quite a good result, while sneaking in on the radar, as anything above that looks good "progress"

There is a guy above claiming he would not have begrudged Liverpool the title in 2014.

Absolutely laughable.

He said ”he would understand people not begrudging” because of their style aka saying there are people who would’ve said had they won the title, they would’ve deserved to win it. Of course they would’ve deserved that. Delighted they didn’t.

Anyway, let’s end this and let this thread be about Mane. So he’ll miss this weekend vs Burnley but expected to return after that?

I asked a question similar to this to a friend yesterday.
Would you rather:

A. Win the league
b. Finish second, behind Liverpool but with City being relegated and the owners selling up to an average joe owner

People who care more about Liverpool losing than United winning would seem to care more about Liverpool's fortunes than our own. Which is a pretty weird position for United fans to take.

Believe me, finishing 2nd to United would probably hurt them more than relegation

Word. That raises another question in my mind: Would you rather watch Liverpool play (and lose) than United?

All this cause I just said I wouldn't like to see a Liverpool player injured for a long time...

Maybe in last game of the season, last minute winner scenario. But that would be short lived. They'd recover immediately. Way better than huge weekday games against Newcastle and Aston Villa and Preston North End.

No one in their right mind would prefer relegation over a title challenge and a CL spot the next season, even if it meant losing out to United.

If you offered me an exciting title race between United and Liverpool with United ending up champions or Chelsea champions and Liverpool ending up fifth, I'd take the former without any hesitation.

Liverpool belongs in the PL, so I'll take a league win for sure. Had it been United 2nd and City relegated then maybe, because City is a nothing club that got lucky.

I have a deep and direct hatred towards Liverpool, nothing would make me happier than seeing them go down! Apart from United winning the treble again

I usually prefer if we win the league and lose to Liverpool. However, the choice in this poll is not only about winning the league, it's also about having a Liverpool-free season in the PL which would give me such immense joy as even the scouser commentators won't be able to go on about them when they're not there.

Assuming it's not a win the league now or never situation, I'm 55-45 to see Pool get relegated. It might sound sad but it's a perfectly rational decision given the choices presented.

I voted option 2, I've seen us win the league many times, I have whitnessed us coming 1st and them second. In this current climate I would bloody love to see them relegated . It's not like we havent won the title in 3 decades, seeing them relegated is a once in a life time event. I would also vote on us coming 7th and them finishing 2nd because of steven gerrard slipping and costing a game 1 week after giving a brave-heart inspired speech about not letting this slip

1st and them 2nd - beating the league over a massive rival is incredibly, incredibly satisfying.

City got relegated not that long ago and for one missed the Derby games for the few years they were gone

Reading United and match day forums...wasn't that the case for much of previous few seasons?

You got a point  Still not a case of preferring Liverpool’s defeat over United’s victory. The last three seasons have surely been more or less ”wishing some of our rivals would lose, too, just make oneself feel a bit less crap”.

Not to mention that Liverpool are currently immensely frustrated with their regular 6th/7th placed finishes - something that can be funny when they fail to meet expectations. If they got relegated it'd be hilarious, but if they bounced right back then some decent mid-table/top half finishes would suddenly be quite satisfying for them. It'd kill off the boom-bust cycle that we enjoy seeing so much.

I don't ever want to see Liverpool relegated. If we finished second to United it would hurt at first but I'd get over it and hope that we could go one better the following season.

Second for us represents a pretty good season anyway so I could probably take that but relegation is unthinkable.

People actually voting for option 2?

What the feck is wrong with some of you

I find this demeaning of other people's opinion just because you cannot even attempt to understand their thinking a bit ridiculous. I mean you supported LvG until his last days for crying out loud, not sure you can be the judge of correctness of people's opinions.

Anyway, as much as I do enjoy beating Liverpool and still consider our games with them one of the highlights of the season, I will never share the same hatred for them as so many on here do. I just don't have it in me.

In seasons gone by I've been shocked to see some Utd fans refusing to cheer for Liverpool when it would mean helping us out to win the league.

I think I get it for the locals. But for people not even living in the country I dunno how you can develop hatred that strong

How on earth is it rational? It's ridiculously irrational.

We're United supporters. That means United doing well is supposed to be our priority. Any option that sees us do worse is the illogical option for someone who is actually supporting the team to pick.

Very sad if people are so obsessed with Liverpool that they'd sooner see their own club do worse purely out of spite.

Mate, I support my club. If you're voting for option two you're literally more a fan of hating Liverpool than you are of Manchester United. At that point you're no longer enjoying football for the joy and happiness it brings but because you want to inflict misery on others. You get into football to get behind a team. This is ridiculous.

Perfectly put

This is a club that condoned racism on one of our club legends Patrice Evra.

How can you not hate them?
