With the way things seem to be going, I'd probably be happy/content with Morata, Perisic, Fabinho and Lindelof now...
I have a feeling this window is going to be a shocker for us. I started optamistic and I know it is still early but we had stronger links to players this time last year and we had the Euros as an excuse for the hold ups.
He isn't and his career suggests he isn't. He is sitting pretty at a nothing Inter side of the level of Everton and isn't even their best player. If he is so brilliant, what is he brilliant at and why has no one else seen these brilliant qualities? How often does a brilliant player's career move downwards in terms of the levels of club they play for? I reckon both him and Salah will disappoint next season if they both play here. Insigne by all accounts had a better season than Perisic and plays LWF. He scored the volume of goals needed for this United team. I have seen Insigne play and don't particularly rate him so you will notice I am highly cautious over Serie A players, especially the ones who aren't so great.
I think we'll better adapt a wait and see attitude. Too many players are locked in bidding wars and clubs aren't releasing their players unless they get replacements and/or the fee they want. AC Milan had been the smartest club so far. They added some top quality players for relatively realistic fees.
Griezmann pretty much messed things up. There are only so many difference makers and it is hard enough to convince one of them to join you. There aren't too many replacement for these types of players.
I honestly don't care whether we sign Perisic / Matic or not. Not the players we should be looking at.
Most of those players already play in the CL and play for better teams. We are still playing catch up budThat's what it should be.
Do Woody and Jose realise we have qualified for the CL?!

Ed seems to be dithering badly. Starting to wonder if last summer's window was more down to Raola's efforts rather than Ed's.
Based on many reports, Ed seems to be flip flopping between different targets whilst (possibly?) getting distracted by things like the Ronaldo saga. We can't even seem to land someone like a Perisic where there appears to be no competition.

That is one thing we didn't do, there were several news stories saying Manchester united don't think Ronaldo will leave and are treating this news cautiously. Going for Perisic and Matic seems strange, yes.
That's the worrying thing, no-one even wants these guys yet we still can't get them over the line.
Good point on Railoa also, becoming obvious he (£££) was the main reason those happened.
Morata is not yet a world class player, and we also have a risk of him going back to Real Madrid after few years if we bring him in.
He is not an ideal signing in my opinion, but the best one given the availability in the current market.

Kind of agree. Getting to the point now where you can't help but get concerned Woody might of messed up another Summer window. And before anyone gives the old 'it's only June 30th...' excuse, We are hardly being linked with anyone which is a concern. Reminds me of the Moyes Summer. Obviously some deals will be kept under wraps, rightfully so. But most deals are generally leaked and we are hearing nothing. Even Morata has gone quiet the last few days.
Not the signings that make me optimistic about next season's league title. With Ibra's long term injury, just adding Morata and Perisic in attack don't feel me with confidence.
Think Mou is trying to build a team that will scrape a PL title in his reign, players with that mentality he likes but not exactly elite and then move on, doubt it will be an elite European force dominating football and challenging for CL's.
He'd have clearly just spent the last 3-4 seasons improving massively, & banging in loads of goals for us if that were to happen, so surely that would be a good thing.
Strange way of thinking, maybe best he does crap so no one else will want him instead.

It's not like we only need one world class attacker either. We need at least two. We don't have a single one currently.
Our supposed targets are not going to push our squad anywhere near the level it needs to be.

No I don't think it's enough. We were already a fair bit off the top and teams like City & Chelsea will be significantly stronger after their transfer dealings. We need more or better.

Morata is pretty close to being world class. It's just that since he came through the academy and with CR7, Benzema and Bale ahead of him, he has to play second fiddle. I don't think Morata will go back to Madrid if he leaves. Madrid have let him go twice now. He initially play for them with few sub ins under Mourinho and then he was sent out on loan to Juve where he proved himself and then he still didn't get enough games when he got back and he'll always be playing second fiddle to whoever Perez's new boy toy is. I would be happy with Morata, Lindelof, Fabinho or Matic, Perisic and another striker. We seem kinda weak on that front. I do think Morata is a good talent and will do well but I think we need another striker like Lacazette or a Sanchez. A winger who can play up front would be by final wish.
Our rivals are not really making big moves too.
As to the topic question no I wouldn't. Morata is a good player, but I don't think he'd get the amount of goals Ibra did last season. Plus we need to add goals. If Ibra was fit then yeah I'd be delighted with just him. But we another goal scoring threat alongside Morata.

3) Mendy+Fabinho
or
4) Keita+Romeu+Tierney/Roberton/Bertrand

I would be happy enough in that we would have a better side and it would mean we wouldnt be signing Michael Keane, Matic. Eric Dier or Lukaku for example but I do think we can do better this window in some positions for sure.

I'd be happy with Morata, Perisic, Matic and Lindelof now!! I'm starting to think we'll spend all summer chasing these three guys, Inter will hold us to ransom, Morata will get a new contract at Madrid and we'll sign Matic at the last minute after being messed around by Chelsea.

We could sign 2 of them tomorrow but Woodward wont pay what the clubs want. Morato and perisic, if you believe the press, were about £20 million short. This is feck all in the grand scheme of things so just pay it. Matic will only come once Chelsea get their player in.
Having had a year, I don't see any real reason to expect a massive change in terms of what Jose will get from this squad. So with him staying, we are accepting that he wasn't the problem; the squad just isn't good enough. That mindset is supported by LVGs time at the club, in which a similar group of players also finished around 5th and also generally played poor football.
So it would make sense to me to be looking at a fair few more changes than we seem keen on. I know it isn't ideal to do so but it's also not ideal to have a sub-par squad. Because we know how this story ends, we have seen what you get from this league when you have so many weak links.

Yeah similar to the 2013 summer in terms of inactivity in all forms.
By this time last season, we knew we were getting Ibra and Mkhi(just a matter of when they'd be announced) and we had the Pogba links.
Certainly a downgrade from last summer so far.

You do realise it was down to Woodward to sign those players don't u? Why Moyes gets stick for that window is beyond me. He gave his list to Dedwood, just as Jose has this window. If we don't get the targets, how does that become the managers fault? It was Woody's fault we didn't secure our targets then, and it will be his fault again should the same happen this window.

I've voted yes, not because I think it appropriately addresses the weaknesses in the squad but because it is significantly better than what I think the club will get.
I doubt that Jose will be as relaxed about the lack of activity as many on here. I just hope he doesn't walk over it.
Im changing my mind too, just been on the joe Hart thread, and have been forced to rethink how unbearable actual unhappiness could be.
Seems pretty unrealistic that we get Fabinho, so the thread title should probably be changed.
Anyway, even if we get all 4, i won't be happy. Given that i strongly expected to get Griezmann, who'd make us a better club then all those 4 combined, there is not much that can be done in the transfer market to make me happy, or fulllfil my expectations i head before.
In addition i don't see those players strengthening our first 11 compared to last season, bar Fabinho maybe.
Lindelöf is not better then Rojo on his crazy form last season.
Morata is not better then Ibrahimovic last season.
Perisic is not better then (*insert any player*)..nah that's a little exaggerated. I quite rate Perisic to be honest, he is a slightly better technical Lingard, and i also like Lingard. I can see why Mourinho wants to buy him. Talentwise he is nowhere near Martial or Micky. The biggest problem i have with him is that he will be another "Schneiderlin", bought by one manager, and disregarded by the next. Pretty sure that who ever becomes our next manager wouldn't back Perisic one bit. 40-50m is pretty expensive for such a player. He won't elevate us in other regions..in Mourinho's workhorse system he is probably a slight upgrade (to Lingard as a starter).
Fabinho would finally be a worthy Carrick successor, but it would surely take him time to settle in the Prem, if we will even manage to get him, which looks unlikely currently.
The positives are the big potential of Lindelöf and Fabinho, i'd see this window more as a long term one if those players would come.
But i can't see our best(!) starting 11 being better then last season with those.
Which isn't a bad thing, because even with our current players i'd expect us to rival for the title, or at least second place, given that the cohesion should be much better now then last year.
CL is another story..with Griez we would have been serious "2nd rate contenders" after Real, Bayern...with those players not so much.

Gave a list consisting of Ronaldo, Bale, Kroos and Fabregas and you expect Ed to bring them ? Our list target was the most unrealistic list ever we had in any window. We kept chasing impossible dreams till time run out of us. It was clear there was no plan b and the targets were chosen randomly. Ed did a very good job for LVG and Jose later.
