Got to disagree with that second bet there. I think there are going to be tons of fouls in the Portugal game. Ghana are going to be going all guns blazing I reckon, closing down from the very start. And we all know how dirty Portugal can be. Going to be a cracking game I think, something like 3-3.

Been going back and forth with the Germany game. Initially I thought it was going to be a goal fest, but the closer to kick-off it gets, the more I think both teams will just be happy with a 0-0 draw.

To start with Ghana have no Muntari so that's got to count in my favour - he's a brainless foul machine! Portugal have a glimmer of hope but for me they just don't look like they have that aggression in them for this tournament. If they bring in William Carvalho as the holding midfielder instead of Veloso that counts in my favour as well.

Instinctively I would say that the Portugal game will have loads of fouls because Ghana are aggressive and will get desperate and the Russia game will see them have the majority of possession because they have this annoying habit of recycling possession among their defenders ad nauseam, but I can't find any stats in recent times to back up either. The fact that my instincts go against the stats is a perfect reason to avoid the bets altogether, but after taking out £500 and having £150 left over I just couldn't resist...

Belgium to have under 53.5% possession is another one I think will happen but can't really back up with stats. South Korea are a good possession side and I can see Belgium finally getting an early goal and taking Korea apart on the counter while they pass the ball around aimlessly.

USA/Germany Over 1.5
Portugal/Ghana Over 2.5
Algeria/Russia Over 1.5
South Korea/Belgium Over 1.5

£50 returns £150 with Betvictor.

Can anyone think of a good reason not to back James Rodriguez each way in the top scorer market? He's still 33/1 despite scoring 3 already, so an each way bet looks tempting. Colombia will be favourites against Uruguay, and should have a pretty good chance against either of Brazil/Chile in the quarters.

Amazing odds, He should have at least another 2 games. The fact that he takes free kicks and penalties makes him even more likely. What happens to the odds on E/W then?

If they knock out Brazil he will be a favourite along with Messi, van Persie and Robben (one or two of them will be gone by quarterfinals too). Messi has 4 already though and will score against Switzerland too so it might be difficult for Rodriguez to catch up with him.

1/4 odds on first 3 places. Quite often though the places end up getting split amongst many players that end up on the same number of goals, if that happens then you get reduced stakes put on at the same odds.

But even if he can't catch Messi, 1/4 the odds for a place is still pretty good. If they knock out Brazil then that'll mean he has 4 games total left, so should have every chance. Looking at the odds of all the others that have 3 or more goals so far, he seems to be a lot higher than he should be:

Messi (4) - 5/2
Neymar (4) - 11/4
Muller (3) - 6/1
Benzema (3) - 6/1
RVP (3) - 12/1
Robben (3) - 20/1
Rodriguez (3) - 33/1
Shaqiri (3) - 50/1

The other one that stands out for me is RVP, given the comparatively easy route Holland have to the semis.

He could definitely score against Mexico and Greece/Costa Rica. Argentina have a leaky defence too.

Have you's got any of them running on top team scorer bets I.e Rodriguez for COL or Messi for ARG

Amazing odds I agree. I think you can back him at that odds and if he scores vs uraguay ( which he probably will , also he is on pens and has a wicked free kick ) his odds will definately go down and u can cash in for profit. Mind he cud have had another goal as he wud have taken the penalty vs japan if he was on pitch.

Anyway , I have made tidy profit this worls cup and I am thinking of lumping a bit on one of todays games but not sure what to go for ... Currently I am thinking of portugal ghana over 3 goals but its only 1.6 so not sure if its that much value , over 10 cornrrs is 1.8 though and over 11 2.1 which can defo happen if it develops into end to end game , also thinking of algeria + .5 today.., any good suggestions for todays matches ?

Ghana without muntari and boateng, and ronaldo hopefully being closer to full fitness, portugal surely have to perform?

Rabiu to get booked anytime 7/2. Red Card 25/1
Calvalho to score anytime 12/1
Nani to score anytime 7/2

Podolski to score anytime 3/1
Bradley to score anytime 9/1
Beckerman to get booked and Germany win 11/2
Fabien Johnsen to get booked anytime 12/1

Over 4.5 yellow cards in Portugal - Ghana match @ 4.85!

Well, that sounds a lot to me, it's Portugal after all, Portugal with Pepe at that.

I don't think Portugal are as dirty as they used to be. Only 1 of their last 7 World Cup games has had 5+ yellows. Or 4 of their last 16 World Cup and Euros.

Yeah, my perception might be skewed on them, still often in memory that bloodbath with Dutch in 2006.

EDIT: But hell, there should've been two yellows for certain until now!

Looks like they're not dirty enough for you but too dirty for me! Shame. At this stage all I'm looking to do is make sure I don't lose too much. If Germany get a goal I'm back to just over half of what I started with today, if USA score as well I break even but I can't see either happening here.

EDIT: Thank you Muller!

Could've easily shown Gyan a yellow there at the end as well.

So close, so far away. No biggie, big odds low stakes was that bet. Onwards and upwards!

Had Portugal and Germany -1 at 4/1 have Belgium and Russia win both teams to score in both matches at 14/1.

I've took Russia at around evens.

Been betting on all sorts today and haven't lost. This will lose because I have posted here! Curse!

I am seriously glad Ronaldo got his goal today. As long as Jo doesn't score two (or doesn't get 1 goal + 1 assist) I've won £45 from my Ronaldo & Cavani to outscore Jo bets. Higuain has been terrible so far but I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't screw up the double though.

It would be pretty funny if Jo turned out to be the hero and loses me £100 though....

I'm pretty sure that marathonbet is going bankrupt. They offer insanely odd stuff....cheers for letting us know about them. Prob take a gander for the knockout stages....which is obviously where it'll get slightly more risky with the the stuff they offer -_-

Emptying my PaddyPower account for the rest of this tournament i think. Just leaving with my open bets as Messi/Neymar top goalscorers and Argentina/Neymar double. Should win a group winners accy later with Belgium.

Need Belgium to win. Do I cash out?
£33 return but it stands at £22.

Think you should cash out. They are playing with 10 men and they have already won the group so I doubt they will even try. Asians play with a lot of pride so I doubt South Korea will roll over.

The option to cash out isn't there right now. I'm going to keep faith in Belgium I guess. It looks quite comfortable at the moment. 4 minutes to go.

Was Belgium leading when I posted that? I thought the score was still 0-0.
Thank god you didn't listen to my advice to cash out.
Congrats mate!

Yeah they were 1-0 up. And cheers pal. Profit in the world cup again.

If they aren't offering the over/under [x amount of] fouls market in the Brazil-Chile and Colombia-Uruguay games at the moment does that mean they won't be offering it at all? Or do they only put that market up on the day? I was looking forward to putting a small fortune on them both...

888 have over/under fouls markets up for those games, Col/Uru is 33/20 over 36.5, Bra/Chi is 1/2 over 28.5. For info, this is how many fouls each of these teams has had in their games so far:

Colombia: 33, 25, 29
Uruguay: 38, 29, 38
Brazil: 26, 31, 33
Chile: 27, 29, 39
