World Cup Betting Thread

Quite frustrating. In a perfect world, we'd already won the bet.

Too bad I didn't have regular fouls at my bookie, that goes well.

Luckily for is the 2nd half is generally the card winner for these bets. A goal either way would be brilliant for us. I can see time wasting gaining a yellow near the end too.

That's what I am hoping anyway.

Those who took the bet on bet365, congrats. Red is there counted as 2.

My bookie distinguishs them.

Should've been a yellow anyway at most.

Ah yeah, so they do. Never knew that. Weird. Even more so considering the odds.

Haven't a couple people on here taken the red card too?

Success.

Feck me just lost 80 quid on England and Italy.

Tempted to take Japan +0.75 Asian handicap and Greece at under 2.5 goals.

Italy-Uruguay - Red card to be shown @4.5

£ 33.33
Single
Statistics (England) - Total Possession % - Under 55.5
Unsettled

£ 27.78
Single
Statistics (England) - Total Attemps on Target - Under 7.5
Unsettled

Was really liking Italy over in possession as well but then saw it has gone up to 54.5%. Still like it though so may bide my time to see if it comes down and if not, then go for it before kickoff.

I also fancy there to be tons of fouls also, but have gone for the over 3.5 cards @2.2.

Both lines seem to have jumped in your favour so well done there.

Draw HT Italy v Uruguay @2.12

:D

And all Acca's very much alive.

Gone for Unders in Greece/Ivory @ 1.9 on Marathonbet which I think is a great price, seems to be 1.75 everywhere else.

Greece really are a poor team, they need to win this one but still can't see them going for it and will more than likely try to snatch a goal and defend it.

Columbia -1 for me. Ambitious but I think it should be comfortable providing they don't stop playing half way through.

betsson.com offered some pretty awesome 'fun bets' before the WC, e.g.

'Will any keeper do a scorpion kick?' Yes @225

'Will a naked woman get on the pitch?' Yes @1.2

And the best one was - and I'm not making this up - 'Will Suarez bite someone?' Yes @175

Wish I had put some money on that. :D:D

Ivory Coast draw no bet is 3.40 right now. They are 1-0 down. £5 on that.

:(

Makes up for my last minute winner in the Uruguay game I suppose!

I accidentally clicked on the lose-to-win accumulator myself yesterday so it can be done.

I'm not much of a stats bettor but it seems so obvious there'll be fouls in the Uruguay-Italy game. Uruguay are very dirty and always break up the play in the middle, Italy always play through the midfield and as the result matters one team is bound to get desperate/frustrated. Uruguay aren't a great possession side either because of their midfield three so Italy should be the one dominating this game. Uruguay might get the result on the break but Italy should have more of the ball no matter what.

Over 29.5 fouls @ 1.82
Uruguay over 16.5 fouls @ 1.9
Italy possession over 53.5 @ 1.9

Looking at it now all of the odds seem to have shortened so I'm feeling pretty good about these bets...

£200 profit in one night...pretty happy about that! Think I'll leave £100 in for tomorrow and if it doesn't turn out so well I'll call it quits for the rest of this tournament with a ~£500 profit. :D

I still have £50 each on Ronaldo to score more than Jo ( :nervous:) and Cavani to score more than Jo. Bet's void if neither score and if both score one then it goes to assists and then minutes played. So as long as Ronaldo manages one measly goal against Ghana it's looking good...

£66.40 on France over 53.5% possession @ 1.9
£25 on France over 53.5% possession and Bosnia over 56.5% possession @ 3.61
£50 on Argentina under 58.5% possession @ 1.9

Just done this one myself. Think the Bosnia line is an excellent one, although Iran still have a chance to qualify with a win I can still see Bosnia controlling the game. The France one worries me a bit, they played counter attack vs the Swiss but Ecuador are a different task and looked to be very poor in possession vs Honduras.

Ecuador are definitely built for counter-attacking and I imagine Pogba will get brought back into the team for Sissoko which should help with possession. Not all that sure about Bosnia. Iran are obviously set up to play defensive, counter-attacking football and Bosnia are a very technical side, well capable of keeping possession for long periods, but they don't seem to have had 55%+ possession against any team in quite a while.

Dzeko under 0.5 tournament goals is 10/11 on marathon bet, you can then back him elsewhere at 6/4 anytime and guarantee a profit, nothing im missing right?

How do they count cards at William Hill? What's over and under 45 points?

Probably 20? I guess Honduras v Switzerland could be full of cards with Honduras playing dirty brand of football.

Willing to go with Iran v Bosnia under 2.5, France win and Argentina win but that will probably be a heavy loss going by my poor record so far. I have had some great calls but coupled with awful ones they do nothing - stuck money on Colombia to win BTTS at 3/1 yesterday then bottled by pairing it with Ivory Coast to win.

Or final crazy tenner on France, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Colombia and Greece to win their next games. Could be good but there'll be at least one upset in these I believe.

Don't do it Sarni, Acca's are just throwing money away!

I've thrown away plenty of money at this World Cup. Must be around $200 loss by now so I'm just playing for fun right now because I don't believe I can win anything, putting a fiver or a tenner on something silly makes up for a better watching. Aside from a weird accumulator that won me serious money at Euro 2008 I doubt I've ever won anything on an accumulator consisting of more than 5 games.

I'd like to take doubles now. Have no idea about Argentina v Nigeria and Bosnia v Iran. Both could go either way. Likewise the other two games today so I might keep my money.

Funny thing is I've managed to call some difficult games. Colombia to win BTTS yesterday was 3/1, Chile -1 against Australia was 5/2 and France against Switzerland were around evens, likewise France -1 against Honduras. I won $160 by laying USA while they were 1-0 up against Ghana then cashing in when they equalised. Then I bottled it on easy games that I had a bad feeling about - Brazil v Mexico being the prime one, I expected Brazil to struggle yet put $120 on them winning.

I had a lovely accumulator going only for Greece (the bastards) to ruin it. A draw in that game would have been enough to get a win. Gutted.

I'm seeing little value in today's games. Paddy Power don't do possession bets so options are limited. A couple of brave-ish doubles might be the thing to do. Some wins to nil and over/under goals, perhaps.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/25/luis-suarez-bite-swedish-gamblers-win

One winner, Jonathan Braeck from Stenungssund in Sweden, bet 80 Swedish krona (£7) that Suárez would bite, and the 23-year-old substitute teacher is now set for a payout of 14,000 krona (£1,225) for his wager.
Braeck said he intends to spend some of his winnings on travelling to a Premier League game in England, but he will not be visiting Liverpool to see the man who helped fund his trip. “It will be a trip to Manchester. I’m going to try to find someone to go with me to Manchester United,” he said. “If I had [Suárez’s] home address I’d send him a thank-you card. It was very nice of him to bite and give me a trip to Manchester.”

You couldn't make this stuff up, Wonderful! Thanks from another happy red!
