I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall in one of these "talks, meetings, discussions, negotiations" they seem to take weeks if not months. I imagine they use them to skive off work and just abuse all the hospitality, most of the time spent sifting through complimentary menus and getting runners to get them their bizarre requests. Maybe 20 mins max spent discussing the actual transfer.

No Shaw, no Kroos. My opinion of him will be completely governed by who he brings in this summer, and I'm not exactly brimming with faith so far. Early days mind....
I don't see how he can be held accountable if both deals fall through because what else could he have offered especially in Shaw's case ? We have put up £27m for an eighteen year old leftback and offered to make him the highest paid teenager around, bettering that deal is beyond the borders of reason imo . Kroos was a difficult deal to complete even under the best circumstances because Bayern were always going to be predictably hard to deal with from the get go given that they are prepared to hold on to him and let him go for free . What else could he have done in these circumstances ? It is not he that identifies transfer targets and the one who spent ten months identifying those ones was deservedly sacked whilst the new guy will be able to completely focus on us in about seven weeks !

Like Scholes says, he's got a lot to prove. Van Gaal will be far more decisive about who he wants and who he wants to sell. I'll reserve judgment until the end of the transfer window.

One thing's for sure, if he doesn't deliver in this window he won't need to bother coming into work the day after the window closes.

There's more to his role than transfers. If he can't hack that, maybe we need to seperate the roles. Doesn't mean he's not worthy of his place at United.

I really don't see the Glazers stumping up for an additional employee just because he couldn't fulfil the full range of his duties.

If Chelsea come in and instantly sign Shaw then not looking good for him.

If Chelsea sign Shaw Woodward needs to take a place looking after the financial side of things and leave his current position. It'll be close to untenable as far as I'm concerned unless he pulls some miracles out of the bag later in the window which is highly unlikely.

If we haven't signed anyone by July,I am worried it could turn out to be like last summer. If it does happen, heads should roll and I am not sure if he can continue as our negotiator after that.

People are actually blaming Woodward if we don't get Shaw but Chelsea do! So if the Chelsea fan goes to Chelsea despite United offering his club £27m and him £100k per week Ed is to blame?

How about Ed offers £40m for the player and gives him £200k a week? He'll get him then but you lot will still complain.

I think the offer is fair however if Luke Shaw wants to sign for Chelsea then that's his decision.

I agree.

How much more can you offer for an 18 year-old with no European experience?

Golden words.

I feel sorry for the guy.

We hear news that we've bid for player x/y/z "feck sake Woodward, why are you being so open with our transfer dealings?"

We hear no news about any bids "feck sake Woodward, why aren't you bidding for anyone? We want to know what's happening!"

We bid x amount for Fabregas/other player "feck sake Woodward, why are you making such shit low bids"

We bid x amount for Shaw/other player "feck sake Woodward, why are you bidding so much? He isn't worth that".

Shaw/other player possibly goes to other club "feck sake Woodward, bid more for him and get it done".

The guy just can't win, at all. And all this from people looking in from outside the club, not party to any negotiations or discussions, not having a baldy feck what's going on and reading stories in the Daily Mail and Twitter.

Mental.

Can I just clear something up. This is what we're not sure about the Shaw situation:

1) Whether he's bid for Shaw
2.) How much he's bid for Shaw
3.) How much Southampton want for Shaw
4.) Wages offered to Shaw
5.) Wages Shaw wants
6.) Whether Chelsea want Shaw
7.) If Chelsea have bid for Shaw

Is that fair enough? That we don't know for certain about any of this? So can someone please tell me how you can judge Woodwood? How can some of you be so sure about something you know nothing about. NO big clubs have signed anyone yet. Not one. Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea/City/Us. If anything we seem to be the furthest along with the Shaw deal. I wish I had time to go through peoples posts who were complaining about how much we paid and now that we're not doing it quick enough.

Grow up some of you and stop believing everything you read in the papers. It's all a fecking load of shite. The only people you have to blame are yourselves for getting caught up in something that has been proven time and time again can either go wrong or be completely made up.

He'll be judged on his ability to get deals done for the players the manager wants and so far he's been a train wreck.

The season is finished roughly two weeks. We've bid for one player that we know of, really (well, reported to have bid)? That player hasn't gone elsewhere. We also don't know who the manager is after, or how far we are along with any deals.

Yeah, trainwreck sounds right.

Give your head a wobble.

To be fair, it is only May and no one has done any real business yet. I'd be disappointed if we haven't tied up a couple of deals before the world cup kicks off, as I thought we'd be in early like we used to be.

If this summer ends in the shambles of last years window, god help poor Ed. He spent all last summer chasing unattainable targets, albeit some I feel he was led to believe that the players may have been available when they clearly wasn't. But a last minute bid for Bale, when he was already pretty much Real's player and just waiting to dot the i's and cross the t's. Almost made it seem like us trying to convince fans we had money to spend, that we went in for Bale and were willing to spent £100m.

Too early to judge in May if Woody has done well or not.

and we've already missed out on Kroos and likely to lose out on Shaw to Chelsea! when the window opens he'll prob sell David De Gea at this rate.

How can you miss out on a player the manager apparently doesn't want?

How can you say it's likely that hell move to Chelsea based on reports when about 4 hours ago you'd have said he was definitely signing for us?

This is what happens in the transfer window. We're heavily linked to players. We buy some.
More often we don't get them or were never interested.

Just don't pay attention to the shite. Don't read the tabloids ignore talk sport and don't follow ITK's on twitter. Get excited when the club announce something. Otherwise you're effectively getting mad at yourself for believing papers with less than a 5% success rate.

Where the hell have you got that we bid for Bale from?

This is what happens in the transfer window. People loses their wits, panic and blame everyone. The funny thing is that the transfer window hasn't officially been opened yet.

Not really.

Why did this shit not happen under Gill and Ferguson?

Somebody is leaking our targets.
