Every single team in the premier league has signed more players in this window than United. Shocking. When people wake up and realise it wasn't moyes dragging us down it was SAF propping us up the better

Come on Ed. Two weeks to prove you are not a chocolate teapot.

Ask yourselves why he'd be haggling. It's not for no reason or for a laugh. It's because he's been told to.
He's a Glazer man in a cosy role. If he had lots of money and the licence to spend it he would. He doesn't though.

It's not because he's incapable, it's because he's a Glazer man working under the Glazers. Maybe we'll see a late £100 million 'bid' for James Rodriguez as proof we have an 'unlimited' budget.

Would obviously be sad to see us miss out top four again, but I'm very curious as to what the Glazers would do next should we miss out on top four again.

The issue isn't Woodward sitting there with £200 million and somehow failing to tie up deals, it's that the majority of the budget has been spent.

Maybe we'll see a reactive signing on the back of a few defeats, but ambitious top clubs should be proactive, especially when the squad is average, and I still want them out.

Woodward has all the appeal of a hemorrhoid right now. His over inflated and ill deserved sense of self congratulation makes his face one of the most punchable in world football. He talked some insufferable shit last summer but the "watch this space" sound bite from last month is on course to expose him for the clown wit many suspect him to be. If he was a boxer he'd be Mohammed Ali at the weigh in and Butter Bean in the ring.

Unless he goes out and infuses this squad with two or three world class players before deadline day, he is officially and irrevocably a twat. Sponsorship deals are all fine and dandy, and kudos on that, but is he really a footballing man? Does he have any f*cking clue whatsoever when it comes to signing players? He says he wants the best players in the world at Utd, yet faffs about like an old lady at a supermarket check out with a Tardis like handbag when it comes time to pay.

There's been serious underinvestment in the squad for a number of years, don't know whose fault that is. The glazers or Fergies. But it doesn't matter now does it? We can't slowly rebuild the team, promote from within etc, because we are already out of Europe and even our cherished sponsorship deals have clauses in them relating to CL participation. I will say that for all he has done for the club, and let's remember it's unbelievable, the final step of the Ferguson legacy was a failure. From a poorly planned and terribly executed succession plan to the unbalanced and poor quality squad he left behind. At a time when we needed a bold manager to come and make the changes necessary to move forwards into a new era, we employed a car mechanic to do brain surgery.

A year later we've finally gone to a proper neurosurgeon but he's not going to be able to fix us overnight. I don't believe for a second that the budget is spent. Most transfer fees are paid in installments and amortized over the duration of a contract. We have bags of cash if we need it. The cost of failure is far greater than the cost of success in this case.

Woodward looks so pleased with himself, even at times of abject incompetence, that I'd be startled if he wasn't the sort of chap that masturbates to pictures of himself.

I hope they'll feck off back to Florida and sell the club. I suspect you might be right about the budget. On what though?

Even feckin David May is tired of this facade... Just when you thought it was all that RedCafe nonsense and all these angry, impatient muppets from the Caf that can't wait for God knows what... Well, sorry bout your luck but it's season now. Game is on and reality strikes again.

Just look what winning a pre-season Mickey Mouse cup can do with your brain.

If that is true it really is shocking, given the number of first team players who left and our performance from last year.

Something is not right here.

When United got listed on the NYSE, investors were told that the club operated on a revenue model where an average spend of only 40 million would be needed annually. We have spent more than twice that amount this year on Mata, Herrera and Shaw.

This doesn't mean we are skint. It just means we have feckloads of cash but our owners aren't going to spend any of it.

But but but we have spent over 60 millions!!1!!

Reckon Glazers/Woodward will panic and sign Di Maria. People have referenced their reluctance to spent but the clause in the kit deal might well force their hand. Similar to Arsenal losing last season to Villa and signing Ozil after a slight meltdown. I hope we can somewhat emulate their season if we do sign one or two decent players.

The short term value of Utd will drop and the Glazers do not want that as I'm sure Utd is their favorite piece of collateral. Long term, who knows what could happen but if the club ever goes up for sale or is subject to takeover the price will be insane. Glazers out.
Chocolate teapot out.

Quick question dudes, if you are LVG and Woodward rolled into one, who do you buy?
Blind, because that's the best use of our remaining budget.
Assuming the Glazers don't suddenly release the funds for a reactive signing.

Think of all those lovely Chevrolet/Nike shirts Di Maria would sell for you, Joel...

The injection of pace into our attack Di Maria and Cuadrado would bring...

Don't understand how anyone can blame Woodward who is being made a scapegoat for Van Gaals indecisiveness. Van Gaal has pretty much confirmed that he is still assessing the squad and could sign a new player in 24 hours if need be which suggests that he hasn't given Woodward the signal to buy players.

Woodward has done well this summer. Signed Shaw and Herrera with minimal fuss. Last January he signed Mata. People need to get off his back.

This.

Reality is we need a further £150m or so if we are to recruit the three or four sort of players we need at market rates.

This squad is an absolute, utter state.

We don't really know either way. Although LvG might be one of the more likely managers to come out and complain - hardly any are ever going to actually do it, his responses are to be expected.

This guy is making me more and more angry and they very fact people refer to him as Woody annoys me too, he doesn't deserve nicknames. This guy is a complete bellend, doesn't have a clue about buying players and is just a puppet for the Glazers to throw around as they please.

We are missing the two least-likely-to-be-sold players from the last two years(minus DDG) in Rafa and RVP. Also our main midfielder in Carrick, and a £30m defender in Shaw.
You would expect any team to suffer with those types of players missing from their side. It highlights the thin squad we have, but doesn't mean the team is shit.

From now though, we meed to be buying players of a quality that makes some first-teamers back-ups, rather than buying back-ups for the players we have.

Well, LVG has come out and said he needs new players so there's no hiding place for Woodward from here on in, and please, no more excuses from his apologists.

Last season I thought Woodward deserved the sack more than Moyes. Given that he couldn't secure one single signing all summer despite us ending champions that same year and with a relatively good budget he was the biggest flop of them all. Yes Moyes's reign was a total disaster , and the man was clueless against top teams but Woodward didn't help with his own incompetence to close down deals and bring in some talent to the squad.

This summer we've signed Herrera and Shaw, two deals that were already complete from the Moyes era, and a 17 year old Goalie for the future. Teams that have finished above us have signed more players and players of greater quality such as Chelsea and we're just relying on LVG to get us a top 4 spot with all the pieces of wood he inherited. No manager in the world bar SAF can do that and no manager will ever be SAF, so now Mr. Glazer must open his check book and realise that the squad NEEDS a couple od marquee signings to compete. And I don't think I'm a plastic fan because I believe we need new players.

If Ed can't do it he has to face the music.

Not really. Van gaal has said he knows what type of players he wants and that he gave Woodward a list earlier on, he also said today he knows they need players. Before the World Cup he said that it's not his job to complete transfers either, he just picks the players. Woodward is the one who's job it is to sign the players and he's been fecking shite at it so far.

Time to find out what Woodward is made of now! from what LVG is saying it seems clear he wants new players so it's up to Woodward to get them now, the period of assessing the squad must be all but over if it isn't already.

Something has got to change, we have been the quietest club in the window. This is completely unacceptable, we lost five first team players this Summer and haven't replaced any of them. Woodward keeps making these empty promises and comes out with the "watch this space" remark. Well we have watched this space and bugger all has happened you useless bastard. We allegedly had money to spend this summer and haven't done much more than we did last summer, as a fan I feel cheated.

Van Gaal said he would spend the pre season assessing his current players. He said he wouldn't spend during that period. Yesterday he said it only takes 24hours to sign a player which suggests that he hasn't given woodward the go ahead to sign his targets.

Not strictly true, we've spent over £50m (mental eh) and replaced Evra with Shaw.
