Wimbledon 2016

Third set point. Second time on serve.

Ok, Ćilić, finish this.

2-2 at the end. Ćilić with some poor shots to finish it.

It's going to be tough for Cilic here... what must be going through his head after all those missed opportunities to win the match.

And win at the end. Congrats, but Ćilić helped. Federer really has to up it a notch for a place in final.

40th semi-final!

(31 Connors, 30 Đoković)

Federer won't have a better opportunity for the Slam win. Can't hope for better than Raonic and Murray as semi and Championship matches.

Wow what a win by Fedex. Cilic is a mental wimp.

Raonic will reach his first GS final.
I don't see him beating Federer. These guys just aren't too good mentally even when playing the better tennis. Raonic is having a great season though so hopefully he wins.

I hope Federer can win it at least 1 more time before he hangs up his racket for good.

Still can't believe he survived 3 match points to stay in it.

Problem with Tsonga that he is trying to outlast Murray. He ain't going to do that.

Federer's mental strength though. Delivering Aces when match point down! Although, both had their chances, and both pretty much bottled some easy and crucial point

Its amusing.

If a player you like comes back from two sets down, he's a winner/fighter. If a player you dislike does that then his opponent bottled it.

You can actually present a case that Cilic did bottle it, and had Federer lost, you could have said the same thing about him. Both missed some crucial points due to their mistake and not opponent's brilliance

It is more you who has a chip on his shoulder with Federer. Federer was great but it was definitely more of a case of Cilic losing it from a great position. anant probably covered it best above, that both bottled a lot of crucial points, especially in that fourth set. Federer made some big mistakes in that tie breaker and could have closed it out earlier without them.

Murray just can't break Tsonga down. I don't think Murray is playing particularly bad, Tsonga just looks unreal.

Chip on the shoulder? I am a fan of his. But it doesnt mean I dont give Djokovic and Nadal credit when they come back from behind. Bottling is a meaningless term in most cases. Every player makes errors. And noone who comes back after playing poorly wins every point on his own racquet. And the opponent making some mistakes doesn't mean you didn't do brilliantly as well.

This was my first post on here ..
Brilliant by Federer. Hope he goes on wins it.
.. but people saying Cilic totally bottled this are spot on. That does not take anything away from Federer. And no, not every 2-0 to 2-3 loss is a bottle job but in this case Cilic had plenty of opportunity to put Federer away in fourth set and he simply did not have the mental strength to close it out. It had little to do with acceptable mistakes or any other skill.
