Wimbledon 2016

Tsonga looks to have faded now. Tie break looks to have taken its toll.

Cilic had three break points and missed two easy shots to break to 3-1 in the third. And then missed a crucial point in the tie break which was once again easy that would have set himself up for match point on his serve. He also couldn't capitalise on two match points. Cilic bottled it in the third.

Federer did not play well in the 3rd set but improved in the 4th and 5th.

Chip on the shoulder? I am a fan of his. But it doesnt mean I dont give Djokovic and Nadal credit when they come back from behind. Bottling is a meaningless term in most cases. Every player makes errors. And noone who comes back after playing poorly wins every point on his own racquet. And the opponent making some mistakes doesn't mean you didn't do brilliantly as well.

60k oh man

Cilic did bottle it, not even up for debate IMO. Federer didn't play well at all, it's not like all the BPs and MPs were saved with great play, it was unforced errors and the odd ace. Too many double faults and unforced errors at crucial times from Cilic. Federer will beat Ranoic in 3/4 sets.

Turning out to be a good match Murray v Tsonga … pity the whole country is just about to switch over to the Wales game
I thought the first set was brilliant, especially the tiebreak. Hopefully Murray sees this out in 4 sets before the Wales match.

You guys are mental at how much you support individuals. I just like good quality sport....they aren't exactly representing anything, other than a nation. Don't understand how such a fan rivalry comes from it. It's odd, I never really saw it before I saw it here either. Most tennis fans I know tend to appreciate most characters in the game, obviously preferring others here and there

I just take a liking to some players for no real reason, but it's hard to then not support them. I actually like quite a few players more than Murray even though I suppose I should support him as a fellow Brit. Right now I kind of want Tsonga to win

Respect for a top sportsman shouldn't be surprising, should it? I never used to like Murray but as he's got better and mentally stronger he's gained an increasing amount of my respect. At the end of the day, it's the same as the way anyone likes and respects sportsmen like Tiger Woods, Schumacher or Mohammed Ali.

I'd advise you to stay away from tennis forums in that case. It's amazing how fanboyish and stupid people get, especially with the silly nicknames they give other tennis players.

Not exactly talking about respect. But if anything, theres been a massive lack of it towards Federer, and players on his side of the draw......Federer didn't win for instance, Cilic bottled, and last week when Nole went out, Federer "had it easy"....disrespecting both Cilic and Roanic, both capable of troubling him.

Similar treatment I've seen towards Nole and Nadal.

I appreciate what we are getting, 3 of the best all at once, giving plenty of insane tennis and drama over the past 10 years.

We can all get a bit one-eyed when it comes to personal preferences in sport – surprises me that you have never encountered it outside of team sports.

I've encountered personal preferences and that's fine....not silliness and belittling opponents for little reason. I kind of always found it exclusive to Football, not actually team sports either.

I've seen over-reaction bordering on excess in all sorts of sport, OTT fan-boys are certainly not restricted to football alone. Don't count myself in that category btw.

I'd half to go back on the posts and check who wrote them to be fair, I couldn't count anyone and I've just been skimming this thread mostly and came across some of those things. But you are getting defensive quickly, so hmm........ ;)

Amazing set from Tsonga. When he went a break down I did not see this happening

Who here said Fed had it easy?

People were discussing on here how Cilic and Raonic would be tough games for him a few days ago. He'd rather face Nishikori and Goffin.

.....

Doesn't matter, I recall this guy. Still think he's a Nadalbot.

So you got one person?

And he is the only fanboy in this thread. Maybe you should message him rather than generalising the rest of us alongside him.

Theres no way he was the only not giving Federer his due for a comeback, if he was then, whatever. But it's not just him, because on these forums, I've seen similar disrespect towards Nole and Nadal, and it can't be him for Nadal if he is THE Nadal fan.

Be happy that you are one who seemingly enjoys the sport instead of one single player.

People prefer other players to others. But besides that poster, I rarely see any bitterness on here. People recognise when Nadal or Djokovic are better than Fed or when Fed was better than them.

People can have preferences as they all different types of players. I don't like watching Raonic. But I'd give him credit if he wins Wimbledon. I just think he's a serve bot who lacks personality. Roddick atleast had a bit of character about him.

smh Tsonga trolled so that you had to make the choice to continue watching or watch the semi....then crashed and burned so you had no Tennis to watch at half time. WOAT.

Tsonga really can wallop a tennis ball when he wants to! Great mental strength from Murray to pull it together at the end.

He played absolutely no one half decent until tonight. Even Fed admitted in an interview somewhere that he got lucky with the draw. Also, as good as Raonic has been this season, he's just not someone who beats the big guys much and I don't expect it to continue. And as for Cilic bottling it, well, he kind of did really.

Theres like a 50/50 chance of getting someone "half decent" in your draw before the quarters, and even then they themselves are more likely get beat by journeymen that the big 4. So whatever, I'm not sure what your point is, sometimes you get a slight toughie pre-quarters, sometimes you don't, sometimes you lose surprisingly to a hot low ranked hand.

Quick look over the history of the big 3's runs to the finals(at Wimbledon) would tell you none of them have had a distinct favourtism thrown their way for easy runs to the quarters.

All it takes is Federer to have a off day for Raonic to beat him. Just like Cilic nearly did and then Fed realised he had a backhand.

You can't seriously expect to think that Fed just turns up and Raonic will lose. Raonic is a dangerous player on grass. Federer would rather face Berdych than Raonic. I bet Murray would say the same. Berdych doesn't have any big weapons to hurt the top four. If Raonic is serving well and Federer isn't returning good then he will end up losing the set. Games against these big servers are high pressure because you know Raonic is consistently going to serve well. You have a bad service game and the set is over.

Cilic bottled it. But so did Federer in the second set when he could have broke back and missed easy shots.

Your favourite over the last few years has lost to easy draws at Wimbledon.

He got lucky because Djokovic was out. Raonic would say the fecking same thing. Murray would too if he wins it.

Why did Kerber suddenly become good at 28 years of age?

Weird for a tennis player to peak so late.
