Wimbledon 2015

Serena's competition is a joke. The fact that she is winning so many Slams after turning 30 and doing it so easily sometimes speaks volumes. It's not that she got better, but that there's just no player left that can reliably challenge her. Just a bunch of fluctuating baseline bruisers.
It's insane to see Steffi and Margaret Court records being easily overtaken like that

Sam Groth might have the worst return of serve I've ever seen. Federer would feel more threatened if he was serving to a wall.

Thought Dreddy just looked a little lacking today, whether that be in ability spirit or energy. That's what you get when you play such an improvised expressive game - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Was reasonably close though - taking that tiebreak would've changed the game completely.

Got a set back on the tie break but he's a bit crap. His volleying has been so inconsistent today.

But his tennis really is an entertaining and enjoyable - no matter if he is winning or loosing.

Federer breaks.

Such a strange match. Rarely do you see 2-1 set lead which was so dominant. Groth's return of serve in the first serve was a joke quite frankly. He's played pretty well after the second.

Groth's volleying has gone from terrible to pretty good, but Federer should still have wrapped it up in three - double fault and an easy passing shot missed in the tie break. He might as well go home now if he gets broken back in this set...

Groth is also possibly the most courteous human on the planet.

This challenge rule is stupid.

Watching Lisicki, good serve, no chance her opponent could return, she tried and failed. But feckface said it was out, challenged it and the feckface was wrong. Replay the point? Eh? IMO the opponent had no play on it.

Again 40-30 down Lisicki serving, she smashes a forehand cross court which the oppo isn't getting, feckface calls it out, challenge, it's in... replay point? Eh? There was no fecking possible play on it so why replay? It's surely her point?

Anyways, her oppo then won the replayed point which gave her the break. Stupid rulings and shit linespeople make this sport infuriating.

Did anyone see that? They focussed in on the bloke in the box and over his shoulder was a massive pair of tits, so the cameraman, as unsubtle as you like, zoomed out to put her face in the frame.

Stay classy, Wimbledon.

feckface = lines person. They seem to be getting worse. So many wrong calls which are clearly wrong too, admitedly one of them in the Lisicki game was close. But I've seen calls wrong by a good distance recently.

Lisicki is out, Wimbledon is dead to me for another year

Agreed, although he does mess up some easy points. I guess being physically weaker will have that effect on him. I'll be surprised if he can regain his form again, or anything near it. He's 29, not much left at the top.
Definitely. I think Nadal needs to hire another coach. Leaving uncle Toni would be destabilising and it isn't needed whatsoever. Look at Federer and Djokovic as prime examples of tennis players who added to what they already had. Peak Nadal was so good at grinding down players with his physicality and fitness. Unfortunately he's no longer that good, which has affected his confidence quite a bit, though I didn't think he would have declined this rapidly. If he doesn't improve and adapt, then I think that will tarnish his legacy and degrade his status as a GOAT candidate.

You're German? Also, didn't see complain if the opponent bad no chance of reaching it?

No, I'm English, but Lisicki has the sexiest legs ever

That's what I found strange, she didn't seem to bother. Just took the ruling, I'd have argued. Same kinda thing just happened between Kvitova and Jankovic but it was called as a point this time. Seems there is a bit of variance on how the judges call the points :s

FFS Wimbledon is dead for you because sexy-legs is out.

She probably didn't think the points were hers.

Karlovic got away with a clear double hit at set point down against Tsonga in the fourth set tie-break, then went on to win it... Poor Jo-Willy.

It's 2:11AM. I want to watch Murray, and of course the bloody women's match has to go to a 3rd set :(:(

Venus is the only one that stands in the way of Serena holding a career grand slam right?!

Serena already has a career slam. She is looking for a calendar year grand slam which hasn't really been done. Its been sort of done 3 times before with Steffi Graf the last to do it in 88, but there was always some sort of variance in the tournament dates. If Serena does it this year, it will be the first time a women's tennis player has sequentially won the the Aussie, French, Wimbledon, and US in a calendar year.

Yup it's a big issue sometimes for example at Roland Garros Serena was playing Azarenka and on set point a shot really deep from Azarenka was called out by the lines person and since Rolland Garros has no Hawkeye the umpire came down to check and declared that the ball had touched the line and thus to replay the point . Azarenka was absolutely livid because the call was late and Serena had already hit the return into the net but the umpire still had the point replayed . Williams won the set on the replayed point and later the match .

What's the issue with 88? On first glance they all look to have been won in the calendar year.

Strange. You are right. I was looking at a different list. Winning it this year would certainly propel Serena into the goat discussions.

Switched over from the Murray match after the second set, just tuned back in and he's 5-1 down in the 3rd. Wtf happened?

Murray was cruising until Seppi took a medical timeout and then broke Murray straight after and hasn't lost a game since. Murray needs to refocus.

Seppi had a medical time-out and found some game, which seemed to piss Murray off.

He's since been holding his shoulder a bit so might be carrying an injury.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I meant by holding it (rather than just winning it)

Steffi Graf has both a 1988 Olympic Calander Slam and a Steffi Slam.......also flawless 95 and 96 but skipped the Aussie Open both years. While beating better competition for the most part in the finals. It's just a shame the Seles rivalry was cut short, a massive shame really.

Serena will probably just go on and on and on and on....I don't see anything coming through to truly threaten on a consistent basis except her own ageing.

I think Murray will win it this time. just have that feeling...

What a dick. Kyrgios literally didn't even attempt to play during the last game in which his opponent was serving all in protest towards the umpire who gave him a warning, presumably for being a mouthy twat.
