Wimbledon 2012

I hope this guy goes far in the tournament. Would like to see him play some more.

He looked like a world beater... obviously, it's highly unlikely he'll ever match that level of performance again... but just imagine if he could!

First time Rafa is beaten at Wimbledon before final since 2005. Discounting 2009 when he was injured.

The acoustics at the Wimbledon centre court are so feckin' great. When a guy is really smashing the shit out of the ball it really sounds like a gun is firing.

How many times have even the best players gone two sets up on Nadal and then just faded away or been overpowered? Rosol was completely undaunted out there. wasn't even remotely phased by the disruption when they closed the roof. Amazing.

The road ahead of that last game was quite something too, must've been one of those rare atmospheres to be a part of

Great line from somewhere on Twitter :

Really big chance for someone else at Wimbledon now.... to knock out Andy Murray

He won't. It's just one of those days when a guy will come and blast absolutely everything and everything hits the lines. Won't be surprised if he loses in the next round tbh.

Why would that phase Rosol? If anything, it helped him. Nadal had momentum going and was finally convincingly beating Rosol. The 30 min break completely killed the momentum.

Get the money on for a straight sets defeat against Kohlschreiber.

Do people really think it was more entertaining when some big cnut was hitting big serves constantly and every point being done in two or three shots?
Better than two cnuts bashing it around behind the baseline for 20 shots before some cnut makes a mistake. Rinse and repeat 200 times.

:lol::lol::lol: at Rafa.

I've never heard of the other guy but he played like a beast! Destroyed poor old Rafa

Final likely to be djokovic Murray now.

Del Po, Ferrer and Tsonga still in Murray's half. But yes this is a good chance for Murray to lose here in the final instead of the semis. This is Djokovic's title and I finally have a tension free final to watch

Atleast you get high quality tennis and rallies in the Nadal Djoko matches. The French Open final might have been mediocre but the USO and Aussie Open finals were brilliant. Today's match will be remembered only for the massive shock that it is and not for the quality of tennis. This was about just as good quality tennis as Isner Mahut. Big serve bang bang game over.

Karlovic (ranked somewhere in the 200's) beating then #2 Hewitt was quite a shock too.

This year has been an absolute disaster with regard to sports.

It's preferable to big girls' tennis. Both the Murray and Nadal games were proper tennis not bore fests.

If you want good tennis without just brainless power hitting then it's matches like Tsonga Federer and Djokovic Federer (last years matches) which were proper tennis. Matches like Nadal Rusol today aren't high quality tennis whatsoever imo. No rallies at all.

"Ivo Karlovic questions Wimbledon integrity after loss to Andy Murray"

What was that all about? 11 foot fouls called against Karlovic?!

Djokovic-Tsonga at last years Wimbledon was brilliant as well. Best match at the Wimbledon since the 08 final.

If you say so. If you want to watch 3 shot rally's that's up to you. All it is one monotonus way of playing based solely on power and big serves being swapped for another. One that actually builds a bit of tension in a point.

I'd rather watch 3-shot rallies with some invention and excitement rather than heavily spun percentage shite from 3 yards behind the baseline. Not to mention the contrast between serve/volley and baseline merchants.

What's inventive about hitting a ball as hard as you can and running into the net?

Because tennis is a game of surfaces. What Wimbledon used to bring was fast reactions, technique, mentality, feel at net. It is what tennis is all about, this is where the pure talent comes and where all the great players made it their fortress.

I certainly don't like what Wimbledon has become - mindless bashing ala Roland Garros, and players coming to the net only to shake hands...
