Wimbledon 2012

Been surprised Federer's not gone for bigger shots earlier into rallies.

So who would be the better opponent for Murray in the hypothetical final, Federer or Djokovic?

Or won't he make it anyway?

He'll lose to either but my guess is he'd prefer playing Federer. Djokovic is at his peak and will be stronger if a match goes the distance.

Interesting match so far. 3rd set will be crucial for Federer, if he loses this, can't see him winning.

Stupid rain has killed my tata sky signal.

Any rivers?! Mine all are lagging.

Horey Shit.....A temporary Federer 04-07 appearance.

feck yesss!!!!

Heart was pounding at the end of that rally. Wow.

Siblime by Federer.

Brilliant stuff by Fed this. Lovely to watch him play like this.

Federed breaks in 3rd set. 2-1 to Federer in sets. Come on Federer!!

Unbelievable really, Federer should of won that one in the middle.....instead Djokovic basically hands him this one, though Federer didn't "give up" with some shots like he has been accustomed too forcing Djokovic to miss sitters, so credit to him for that. Glad the game has come to life though.

Good myth. But just a myth.

The guy is 30. He's not at his peak. Did Djokovic "give up" with that rubbish smash?

Federed just needs to avoid being broke and he'll win:)

Djokovic just isnt playing well at all.

It's not really. Hell you can just rewatch the first 2 sets to see what I mean. It's not something that's new to Federers game. He picks when he's ready to go for the break instead of going for them most points.

That's how all players play. You don't "go for it" every point.

What is up with Djokovic? This game has gone to shit. I'd take Federer-Tsonga, needs his revenge for last year.

Must admit, I'm an absolute Federer 'fan boy'. He was my hero growing up.

Would love him to win here, and he looks well on the way to doing so.

He's one of those few players in a sport whereby his technique's been slightly unorthodox in some ways, but has been so good that he's left people going "oh, well maybe he's got it spot on and is actually the benchmark of what's right".

He doesn't even look at the other side of the court when he hits it for feck's sake! :D

I said most not every and I also didn't say they did, but they go for more than Federer. His talent means he has the luxury of doing it more than most. It's not some new thing to his game, I don't know why you're upset about it, he's had a tendency to give up on games/full sets at times since about 2007 now, and with age, he cherry picks more to conserve energy, it's a good move and keeps him competitive.

I'm sorry I don't buy that. Players don't give up. Their intensity goes up and down. And they go for winners at opportune moments.

Also, Federer goes for it more than most players. He's an offensive tennis player. Always has been.

Federer better beat Murray (if he makes it there) in the final. Wish Nadal hadn't lost so early. With Djokovic heading out he could have win this.

Anyway hopefully this match goes to 5.

A visit from mental breakdown Djokovic now. I'll allow it. Though he got out of that well, but he looks done. Maybe he's just finally gassed after 18 months at the top.

He's not playing badly. He'll make Federer have to work for it IMO.

I don't mind Djokovic at all, but watching the world number one in his prime struggle to hold serve to the best player in Tennis history who is towards the end of his career is just incredible.

Novak hasn't been at the level of last year. It was always going to be impossible to replicate.

Rafa should've beaten him at the Aussie Open too.

Yeah, there's something beautiful about this. It's like when Scholes came back in January and started fecking up everything in sight.

...not as beautiful as that, though. That was immense.

Djokovic hasn't really been very good this year. Somehow managed to win the Aussie Open, average in the Masters series' in America, won nothing on Clay, lost RG and now seems to be heading out.

Don't fall for the "he looks done" thing with Djokovic. The amount of times he's looked "done" in the past 18 months and then come back from a million match points down isn't funny.

I hope federer has enough left to beat the fist pumper murray in the final, if the beats tsonga.

But if tsonga gets to the final I'llbe up for him!

Exactly the same feelings. Want Tsonga to win this tournament but Federer is a better option than Murray.
